AnimEVO announces 19 games for this year’s massive Evo 2018 side tournament

AnimEVO is going all in at Vegas this year! With a focus on anime-style fighting games and puzzle games, the side tournament team has announced a whopping 19 titles for this year’s side tournament to Evo 2018.

Appearing on Super Desperation Radio, the following titles were announced:

  • Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code (PC)
  • Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[st] (PlayStation 4)
  • Gundam Versus (PlayStation 4)
  • Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star (PlayStation 2)
  • Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R (PlayStation 3)
  • Koihime Enbu (PlayStation 4)
  • The King of Fighters XIV (PlayStation 4)
  • Samurai Shodown V Special (PlayStation 4)
  • Garou: Mark of the Wolves (PlayStation 4)
  • Blazblue: Central Fiction (PlayStation 4)
  • Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (Nintendo Wii)
  • Puyopuyo Tetris (PlayStation 4/Nintendo Switch)
  • Catherine (PlayStation 3)
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (CPS2 Supergun)
  • Arcana Heart 3 Love Max Six Stars!!!!!! (PC)
  • Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S (Super Famicom)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Super Nintendo)

While registration has yet to get underway, they are still asking for more titles if other members of the community wish to run an event with them. Further, they have put out a call for volunteers to help run brackets.

These amazing combos in The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match show unlimited potential

The King of Fighters ’98 is a title that has enjoyed a longevity of two decades of play — and it shows no signs of slowing down. With China and Latin America still exploring the title, it still has a lot of life left in it, and these combos show exactly that.

With highly-impractical setups and interactions, these combos ultimately show the depth of the 20-year-old game system. It also shows off some boss-mode combos, showing why Ultimate Rugal — as with many boss characters from that era — are “ultimately” banned in competitive play.
