Thaiger Uppercut 2018 streaming live from Bangkok, Thailand

Thailand’s largest yearly fighting game event is this weekend! Thaiger Uppercut 2018 in Bangkok is a stop in the Capcom Pro Tour (as a Ranking Event) and the Tekken World Tour (Challenger Tournament).

Tournament Games

A number of strong competitors from across the region and beyond will be in attendance. Players include Tokido, Bonchan, Itabashi Zangief, sako, Dogura, INFILTRATION, Xian, Xiaohai, Dakou, Big Bird, K-Brad, Knee, qudans, LowHigh, JeoDDing, Chanel, Book, Tanukana and more. Three streams will be covering the event. TGU’s main channel will cover Street Fighter V pools and all main event finals; TGU’s secondary channel will cover Tekken 7 pools; and KZCafe will cover all side event finals. You can find each stream below.

Mini-documentary explores the local Street Fighter V community at 16-Bit Bar + Arcade in Columbus, Ohio

With all the continuing growth the fighting game community is experiencing with esports, sponsors, social media, and bigger cash payouts, it might be easy to forget where most of what we now have originally started: the local arcade scene. So, with that said, it’s nice when someone takes it upon themselves to show where their local scene comes from and who represents their region.

In this almost seven-minute mini-documentary — simply titled “SFV” — by Matt Herrick takes us on a visual tour of 16-Bit Bar + Arcade in Columbus, Ohio. At this local bar/arcade spot in the Midwest, plenty of drinks are served next to retro arcade games such as Donkey Kong, Tron, Galaga — and classic fighters such Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, and Killer Instinct are in abundance. It’s also at this venue where Beatdown at the Bit weekly tournaments are held for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.

Matt also interviews local players Sarah “litebriteRPG” Opelt, Brian “ocelotyouth” Opelt, and Red Bull Proving Grounds finalist Rob “RobTV” Burney. They talk about when they first started playing the Street Fighter series, and how they feel being a part of the fighting game community.

Kelot Cup 5 results

While the first Master event of the 2018 Tekken World Tour was raging on at Final Round 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia, many top Japanese Tekken 7 players were conspicuous by their absence: as Kelot Cup 5 was being held in Tokyo, Japan. The fifth iteration of the semi-annual 3v3 Team Tournament, with nearly 100 different squads participating. Notably, the Yamasa trio of Nobi, Take, and Yuu were split up among three different teams, adding another interesting wrinkle of unpredictability into the proceedings.

NurseLee explores the setup possibilities of Nash’s “Bullet Combination” in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

Nash’s target combo, Bullet Combination, received a set of buffs that wildly increased its value in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. This kick string ends in his “Bullet Clear” V-Skill, and by allowing him to both build V-meter and score big damage off conversions, Nash will constantly be able to build up to his V-Trigger no matter the situation.

On top of that, this opens up his strong okizeme setups he already had off of his EX Sonic Scythe. Check out NurseLee‘s demonstration above to see how Nash can keep the pressure up after his new conversions.
