Witness the Astral Heats for the first four DLC characters of BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

With the Japanese release date of BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle having arrived, many players are getting their hands on early copies of the game, providing us with a look at certain types of content before the full release for other regions in June — particularly the four Day 1 DLC characters.

As such, we have a compilation of Astral Heats for Team RWBY’s Blake Belladonna, BlazBlue’s Platinum The Trinity, Under Night In-Birth’s Orie, and Persona 4 Arena’s Kanji Tatsumi. Blake’s Astral is clearly an homage to Adam Taurus’s (who happens to be Toshimichi Mori’s favorite RWBY character), attack from the Black Trailer, as Belladonna slashes her foe up with Gambol Shroud before sending them to the ground, where they disintegrate into tiny black pieces against a blood red background. Meanwhile, Platinum, Orie, and Kanji have retained Shining Layered Force, Rest In Piece, and The Man Series: Brofist, from their respective origin games. You can see all four of them in English below.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle arrived on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in Japan today, Thursday, May 31st. A North American release on the same platforms will follow this Tuesday, June 5th. A European release for PS4 and Switch, by PQube Games, is scheduled for Friday, June 22nd.

Ryu takes on a new quest with the Arthur Crossover Costume, coming to Extra Battle in Street Fighter V

The next Crossover Costume completes a classic hero vs. villain face-off!

It’s almost time to get the final piece of M. Bison’s Astaroth Crossover Costume in Street Fighter V‘s Extra Battle mode — and every villain needs a hero to “rise up” against him… Capcom obviously had this pairing in mind, because they have now revealed the next Crossover Costume will go to SF series cover boy Ryu, and he’ll be donning the armor of the valiant knight that dared to fight Astaroth: Arthur!

From Capcom-Unity:

Appearing in Ghosts ‘n Goblins (1985) and its sequels, Arthur is the main protagonist who is on a mission to rescue the princess Guinevere from countless villains like Astaroth. Utilizing an arsenal of knightly weapons including a lance, dagger, axe, sword, crossbow, and more, Arthur is able to fend off armies of undead in the name of the princess. One of the most notable things about Arthur is the fact he loses his armor when hit, reducing his clothing to only boxer shorts. As both Ryu is the protagonist of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and has a penchant for being good, he’s the perfect character to don Arthur’s armor.

To unlock the Arthur costume for Ryu, you’ll  need to play four time-sensitive events in Extra Battle mode to earn all four pieces (as per usual). Each play costs 2500 Fight Money — but at least they aren’t usually very difficult, and you can try as many times as you need (or can afford) to beat the CPU.

You only get three chances to beat a Golden Shadaloo Soldier, however — and some more of them are coming soon, too.
