The latest ArcLive episode reveals more Yang gameplay and shows off BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle DLC characters

Another Wednesday passed, another episode of ArcLive is up. The Arc System Works stream — still focusing on the upcoming BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, played quite a bit of the game this week. Fans also got the chance to see more of Yang, the last member of team RWBY, who is still shrouded the most in mystery.

However, the company finally unveiled another look at the fist-fighter, showing off her Distortion moves, assists, and combos in tandem with other characters. Her spunk rivals Chie Satonaka’s, dare we say. Check her out in the gameplay short below:

Other than new Yang gameplay, the show featured two guests: community artist Shunao and FGC commentator Samifish. Shunao presented some special artwork during the show; the first part dives into a discussion about the game and features a fun segment where the audience and hosts name iconic duos from the game. The second part prominently features live BBTAG gameplay with DLC characters Kanji, Orie, Platinum, and Blake. Lastly, the hosts and guests take a brief look at what’s inside the BBTAG Collector’s Edition box.

Tomoko Hiroki presents the new Party Battle Mode for Dragon Ball FighterZ

Unite to defeat Frieza in this brand new mode!

Earlier in May, the Dragon Ball FighterZ patch balanced a few characters, squashed multiple bugs, and added some new modes: Party Battle Mode and the FighterZ Cup. A new video from Bandai Namco has game’s producer, Tomoko Hiroki herself, going over the Party Battle Mode in greater detail.

The Party Battle Mode is a limited time online-only event. Three players form a team to challenge an army of powerful enemies, counted across the world in a cooperative effort. This particular Party Battle is called “The Emperor Strikes Back” with Frieza as the villain. Victory in this mode earns Zenny and Premium Z Coins.

As of today, the event is accessible in the game, and it will last until May 21st 11:00 PM PT. So gather your team and for once, cooperate with your allies to defeat Frieza!

The SRK Rollback: Best of May 11-17, 2018

Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news — and our favorite SRK articles — from May 11 to May 17, 2018!

Zavian “mushin_Z” Sildra, Editor-in-Chief:

Frame 1:

Capcom announces the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Tournament Series

It is probably too much to dream for that Capcom will officially support competition in pre-Street Fighter V titles on an ongoing basis… but this is a start, and while it’s certainly primarily to build hype for their new collection, we can still hope it will be successful, and encourage a repeat.

Frame 2:
sfv guile win pose comb
Is Street Fighter V the most top-heavy fighter in over a decade? Twin Galaxies discusses the game’s character (im)balance

Any discussion of balance in SFV threatens to open a can of worms; and while this article doesn’t go into great depth on the subject — and seems to throw some shade on the LATAM scene by downplaying the value of CYG BST|Chris T’s recent CPT win with Ken — it’s still a subject we should keep talking about, as better balance means more fun and fairness for all.

Frame 3:

Catch Blade Strangers in action in this footage from BitSummit Vol. 6

Blade Strangers is the best upcoming fighting game none of us knew we needed. But need it we do!

Frame 4:
Ryu Super Turbo
Take on old-school killers in the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection Exhibition event at Combo Breaker 2018

Umehara, Wong, Ortiz, and Valle — plus four other contenders from the FGC, facing off in the classics. This is gonna be a blast.

Frame 5:
soulcalibur vi yoshimitsu trailer 2 750x400
Yoshimitsu spins and slices into SoulCalibur VI in this new character reveal trailer

Yoshi’s comin’ back, and he’s looking meaner and crazier than ever. As one of my SoulCalibur favorites, I’m happy to see he’s making it into the base roster!

Frame 1:
Power Rangers Legacy Wars Street Fighter Crossover Event Featured Image
Street Fighter icons join Power Rangers: Legacy Wars in morphenomenal event

I don’t understand why this exists, but I hope this leads to an eventual Power Rangers console fighting game.

Frame 2:
kofxiv_antonov_750
InfernoKong shows off a true champion’s might with this The King of Fighters XIV’s combo video

Antonov is by far my favorite new KOFXIV character, and InfernoKong’s work with the character is exceptional.

Frame 3:
Dissidia_NT_LockeLocke Cole from Final Fantasy VI is Dissidia Final Fantasy NT’s second DLC character

Really, you could make a fighting game of just FFVI characters and I know I’d be happy.

Frame 4:
blastoise_750Unannounced Pokkén Tournament DX patch buffs Blastoise, DLC supports

I still believe they intended to release this later. I’m not sure what other explanation there is for something like this to drop without notes.

Frame 5:
skullo_winARIKA shows off gameplay of Fighting EX Layer’s Shadowgeist, Skullomania, Sanane, Doctrine Dark, Darun Mister, Kairi, & Hokuto

This still remains one of my most-anticipated games, and these additional teases aren’t making the wait any easier.
