Sony is releasing a new limited-edition PlayStation 4 Pro to celebrate 500 million units sold

Thanks to a few key exclusives and sponsorships, the Sony PlayStation 4 has become the console of choice for fighting game tournaments. Of course, it helps that it’s also been a big sales success for Sony in this generation of consoles. How successful? Well, it’s officially sold more than 500 million units worldwide.

To celebrate this milestone, Sony is releasing a special 500 Million Limited Edition PlayStation 4 Pro. Releasing later this month, this new limited-edition variant of the PlayStation 4 Pro comes in a unique translucent blue casing, with gold lettering. It also comes with a matching translucent blue Dual Shock 4 controller, as well as a PlayStation Camera, vertical stand, mono headset, and 2 TB hard drive.

Only 50,000 of these 500 Million LE PlayStation 4 Pro will be produced, with each one numbered. As a added bonus, certain units will receive “extra special” serial numbers representing important dates in PlayStation history (e.g. 09995  for U.S. launch date of the original PlayStation [September 9th, 1995]; 01115 for for the U.S. launch date of PS4 [November 15, 2013]; and 01013 for the U.S. launch date of PS VR [October 13, 2016]).

The 500 Million LE PlayStation 4 Pro will retail for $499 when it hits retailer websites on August 24. In addition to this, the translucent blue Dual Shock 4 can also be purchased separately for $64.99, alongside a 500 Million Limited Edition Gold Wireless Headset with the same translucent blue design and copper detailing, priced at $99.99.

Rising Up: G bread-and-butter combo guide — Punishes, confirm combos, juggles, & more

G, the self-proclaimed “President of the Earth,” has just been released for purchase in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Though he appears in the game’s opening reel and has been technically revealed since the launch of Season 3, G is a completely new character to the Street Fighter franchise, and seems to have no storyline ties with any other character yet, other than sharing a costume and some attack animations with Q of Street Fighter III. G brings a mechanic of his own to the table: he can channel “presidential power” from the Earth itself. When storing this power, his special moves improve dramatically, though he loses it whenever he’s knocked over. G must carefully consider which combos allow him to build this power, and has different combo routes depending on how much power he has charged, which made scripting a combo guide quite difficult! Still, I’ve put together this guide of his most essential combo routes, so that players can quickly learn the basics and start developing their neutral game. Here are your best bread-and-butter combos that I’ve found for every common scenario. This video features anti-airs, punishes, confirms, counter-hit combos, crush counter combos, juggles, and more.

This G bread-and-butter video is not the full G tutorial I’m working on, but rather simply a guide to his basic optimal combo routes. The combos are all my own findings, alongside a few things I’ve observed from other players. Due to the mechanics of his presidential influence, G has an unusually large number of optimal combos compared to most characters, with some good depth on his first V-Trigger in particular. Thus, I wholeheartedly encourage anyone watching to point out superior combo routes in the comments, for both me and the other players, so that I can amend them into the final video when I release it!

Team NINJA has released the character movelists for Dead or Alive 6’s Evo 2018 build

Team NINJA brought their upcoming Dead or Alive 6 to Evo 2018 last week. This allowed players who were at the event a chance to try the game out and see how the characters in the build at the show had changed.

As part of this, Team NINJA has also released the official movelists for the characters who were in the Evo build of Dead or Alive 6. These were released ostensibly so that people at Evo would know how to use the characters (especially newcomer Diego). However, now that Evo is over, they still serve to show the rest of us how these characters have changed for Dead or Alive 6, at least at this point in development.

You can check out the movelists by following the links to the official site below.

For those having trouble identifying what’s new (understandable, due to how sizable 3D fighter movelists are), the folks over at Free Step Dodge have compiled a list of new strings for each of these characters, that you can check out here.

Dead or Alive 6 is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in 2019.
