Echo Fox parts ways with Tekken legends JDCR and Saint

Just a few days ago the 2D FGC was rocked when Punk, Theo, and Scar were all simultaneously dropped from famed esports organization Echo Fox. Shortly thereafter, Echo Fox put out an official statement on the releases and it seemed, for a moment, that was the end of the story.

Today, the bleeding resumes: It’s now the 3D FGC’s turn to be baffled by Echo Fox’s decision. This time, it’s Korean Tekken legends — and Evo Champions — JDCR and Saint that have parted ways with the company.

JDCR and SAINT showed no signs of fatigue in a tournament scene for a game in its peak, so the layoffs are surprising, to say the least. Whatever organization scores either of these players is poised to corner Tekken — particularly if they can sign them both. As far as EchoFox’s future in the FGC — and the future of the few players left on staff — remains uncertain.

Join the Manji Clan with Hayate EIN’s Yoshimitsu primer for SoulCalibur VI

If you come from the Tekken series, you would probably never associate Yoshimitsu with solid fundamentals and versatile, practical strength. Get ready for culture shock: this has been the Yoshimitsu experience in high-level Calibur play for years thanks to his standard setting speed and incredibly strong and basic 50/50s. Not only does this hold true still in SoulCalibur VI, the fact he now builds meter faster than most characters in the game with his new “Soul Steal” mechanic makes him capable of bullying the opponent event more.

This doesn’t mean he is without stylish gimmicks, however. As Hayate EIN demonstrates in his latest breakdown video, his new Dragon Flight options and okizeme give him more than enough ways to confuse and frustrate opponents, particularly in Soul Charge. This is an excellent character to start SCVI with, and learn how a Calibur game is played.

VesperArcade offers thoughts on the impact of input lag reduction coming to Street Fighter V

What does reduced input lag mean for SFV players?

Capcom offered some unexpected (but not unwelcome) news earlier this week, with a promise on Twitter that October 23 would see a patch coming to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition to further reduce input latency. This possibly may be related to the lag reduction that Tekken 7 enjoyed thanks to updates to Unreal Engine 4, the shared foundation to both titles.

In this new video, VesperArcade and Mir continue to chat about what they want to see in Street Fighter V — and in this case, they discuss what impact further lag reduction will have on the game. With some speculation as to why we’re seeing this fix suddenly offered up (could it be related to the new arcade version…?), they then go over how reduced input lag changes how the game is played. Maybe we’ll actually be able to walk-and-block!

The model we were sent features patented Razer Green switches that are rich with clicky goodness, but is it truly Elite?

Final Fantasy XIV: The Alpha and the Omega

At long last, it’s time to take the fight to Omega in the Alphascape. The sentient super-weapon that dispatched Shinryu and chased Midgardsormr to Hydaelyn is ready to take on the Warrior of Light in the final tier of the eponymous raid series. It’s been a hell of a journey since we first scuffled with Exdeath in the summer of last year, but the end is within reach if you can handle the challenge. (Expect some mild spoilers.)
