Back in 2009, a little group called “Mercenaries for Hire” was born. It was a Wizard101 “guild” that aimed to help players with difficult bosses and dungeons. . I ended up joining the merry band of misfits in 2014. Although it was a LOT of work, my time as a merc is one of the most memorable aspects of being a part of this community. Helping others deepened my understanding of average player skill and challenged me in ways that I had never thought about before.

Anthem VIP Demo Downloads Begin Ahead of This Weekend’s Event

The Anthem VIP beta test will kick off on Friday, January 25th at 9:00 am Pacific / 12:00 pm Eastern and will run through January 27th at 6:00 pm Pacific / 9:00 pm Eastern. Those who have preordered the game or who are members of EA / Origin Access will be able to take part in the beta this weekend. In order to jump into the game when the bell tolls the start of the event, players on all platforms can preload the client right now.

Guardians of Ember to be Republished by Gameforge – Beta Underway

You may remember the scandal with Insel Games’ Guardians of Ember and how it was removed from Steam for manipulating reviews. It didn’t take long for the game to end up for sale and for Gameforge to snap it up. It appears that Gameforge is ready to relaunch the game and is offering interested players a chance to beta test its version in preparation.

Warframe Devs to ‘Open the Prime Vault’ for a Limited Time

The Warframe development team has announced that on January 29th they will be “reopening the Prime Vault” to bring back Ember and Frost. “For a limited time, Ember Prime and Frost Prime Return from the Vault. Get these two Prime Warframes plus high-demand Vaulted Prime Accessories, Prime Weapons and discounted Platinum before they’re gone again on March 26th,” the site reads.

Bethesda Squashes Rumors that Fallout 76 is Going Free to Play

Bethesda has taken the rare step of debunking today’s Fallout 76 rumor that it would be going free to play. The rumor stemmed from copies of the game reportedly being pulled from brick-and-mortar stores. This led some Redditors to opine that Fallout 76 would soon be going free to play. However, Bethesda, in response to a Twitter user demanding a refund if the rumors are true, simply said, “There is no truth to this rumor.”

BioWare’s Casey Hudson Pens ‘One Month to Go’ Anthem Update

Fans looking forward to Anthem may want to check out the latest update on the BioWare site from General Manager Casey Hudson. In it, Hudson reviews some of the history of the game’s development and what it’s bringing to players that make it both familiar to fans and different from anything else BioWare has ever made. Hudson also speaks to upcoming beta opportunities, both the paid pre-order beta and the open beta demo that will launch a week later.
