On February 14th, Mad Otter Games issued a statement to let its community know that a hacker had “acquired access to game servers”. In a new note, the team reassured its community that all player data is backed up and will be restored in the near future. In addition, players are assured that “player names, addresses, payment or other credit card information, passwords and other personal information were NOT compromised in this security incident”.

Warclaw Mount Coming to Guild Wars 2 On February 26th – Only Available in WvW
ArenaNet has revealed a new mount coming to Guild Wars 2 on February 26th. The Warclaw, “a fearsome new cat mount created for combat and siege warfare” will only be available via World vs World, but it will be usable in the rest of the game world. “It comes with a variety of special abilities including Evade, Battle Maul and Chain Pull”, each of which has been added to “enhance WvW mechanics”.
How MMOs Have Improved
No matter what you think about current MMOs there are still games out there that do extremely well in today’s market. There are two that I can think which provide updates and content for their user bases as well as fast leveling practices and multi-tiered cash shop options. Neverwinter and Elder Scrolls Online remain strong money makers for their respective markets and also keep the classic fantasy feel we all grew up with.
Warhammer: Chaosbane Trailer Introduces Bragi Axebiter, the Dwarf Slayer
Bigben and Eko Software have sent out a new trailer featuring one of the four playable characters coming in Warhammer: Chaosbane, the upcoming ARPG. Bragi Axebiter is a dwarven Slayer “vowing to cleanse his honor by dying in combat against a formidable adversary”. He is in a constant search for the most powerful foes to bring his oath to an end. He is a hand-to-hand combat specialist with high mobility that brings him into “the heart of melee”.
Breach Announces Valley of Kings Content Update with New Map & Class
Breach players will soon have a new map and class to play with the launch of the Valley of Kings content expansion. In addition, a new Boss will become available named Sekmet, the warrior goddess of Egyptian mythology. Players will be able to take the part of the Medic Hero, the new class that arrives with content. Medics can “summon microbots to follow and heal allies over time and then redirect them to converge on enemies for burst damage”.
Undermountain is the Largest Expansion Ever for Neverwinter
Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment have announced that Undermountain is the next expansion coming to Neverwinter. The “largest expansion ever” will be arriving for PC players this Spring and at a later date for consoles. Players will be heading off to an massive dungeon beneath Waterdeep and content will include a level cap increase, five new Adventure Zones, the Yawning Portal Tavern social hub, a new endgame dungeon, and much more.
The Good and Bad of Anthem So Far
I’ve been playing Anthem this weekend, despite some frustration I’ve had with its design choices. The moment to moment action of Anthem is top-notch. They’ve nailed the combat, and the verticality of the world is as interesting as they posit. I love what I’ve seen of the characters and learned of the world, but there are fundamental issues I have with the UI and some design choices. Here are a few high level good and the bad bits of Anthem so far, as I see it.
