The contest was held in December and devs were so pleased with what they saw that a new video has been created to showcase some of the best of the best. “What would sci-fi be without spaceships? Neural MMO Teaching AI About Agents’ ‘Overall Competence’

OpenAI is a California-based nonprofit group that released “Neural MMO”, a “massively multiagent” game with the goal that “the inclusion of many agents and species leads to better exploration, divergent niche formation, and greater overall competence”. Players enter a tile-based map where, according to VentureBeat, “they observe the square crops of tiles centered on their respective positions & make one movement & one attack per tick”. They are engaged with foraging or are in combat with others.

Shroud of the Avatar – ‘We Are Nomadic Now’ as the Team Gives Up Its Office Space

The Shroud of the Avatar livestream from last week started off with a bang as Starr Long kicked things off with “We are nomadic now” and told the viewers that Portalarium had decided to give up its office space in favor of teleworking. The move away from offices will free up resources and time, according to Long, due to increasing office rental costs and rising utilities as well as commute time / cost for developers.

Neverwinter’s Challenge Campaigns to Keep Zones Relevant Even for Max Level ‘Toons

The Neverwinter site has been updated with a new blog post that introduces the new Challenge Campaigns that are designed to bring relevance back to older areas to make them more attractive to endgame players. Campaigns that are considered older and that are not leveling zones will be “scaled to offer a consistent challenge when adventuring in their zones”. Three weekly quests sending players off to these specially-designated zones will also be available in Protector’s Enclave.
