Warlock Debuts First Look At Gameplay

Game Informer

Opening Night Live 2026 just gave us a first look at Warlock in action, and there’s lots to dissect about what was shown.

In the new game under development by Invoke Studios, Players take on the role of a Warlock named Kaatri. The lead is played by Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) and her menacing patron is played by Maggie Robertson, who helped to scare players as Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village.

The debut gameplay leaned heavily into showing off the ways that Kaatri will use her Warlock magic to solve both environmental puzzles and take on combat in novel ways. At one point, she was able to stick a loose rock to a wall to create a platform. In another location, she completed a short-range teleport to cross a wide gap. In combat, she changed places with one of her foes just before being struck by a much larger monster. Elsewhere, she locked a giant monster in place with black tentacles in order to leverage a powerful attack spell that sent swords flying in from every direction into her foe.

The gameplay shows an interesting mix of classic third-person action combat, but instilled with a good bit of Dungeons & Dragons fiction, the appearance of classic monsters and magic from that fiction, and a heavy focus on dark magic – something that likely helps it feel quite different from other third-person adventures on the market.

Check out the gameplay in the video below.

Exodus’ Opening Night Live Trailer Reveals An April 2027 Release Date

Game Informer

Exodus, the debut game from Archetype Entertainment, is officially dropping on April 7, 2027, according to a new trailer. This new information comes courtesy of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live stream, one of the year’s three Geoff Keighley-hosted showcases of new trailers and reveals from the video game industry. Exodus was first revealed at The Game Awards in 2023, so it’s fitting that Keighley would reveal the game’s release date a few years later. You can check the trailer out for yourself right here.

The new trailer mostly focuses on Salt, one of Exodus’ crew of companions. She’s an awakened octopus (meaning she has human-level intelligence and a translator chip for communication) who pilots a mech suit. As goofy as that sounds, the trailer shows off a cold personality and a tragic backstory. It also includes glimpses of Emrys, another of the game’s companions, who’s a Celestial – a highly evolved offshoot of humanity.

Exodus is developed by Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by developers with experience at BioWare, Halo Studios, and Naughty Dog. Players inhabit Jun Aslan, the heir to a powerful Dynasty fighting to save their homeworld of Lidon. Between the game’s third-person shooting, choice-based story, and colorful cast of companions, there are a lot of comparisons to Mass Effect, which is not surprising, given that many of the people who worked on this game also worked on that series. Its world also revolves around the concept of time dilation – the idea that people moving at near-light speeds experience time differently than those back on Earth. It might seem familiar if you’ve seen the movie Interstellar. Fittingly, Exodus also includes Interstellar star Matthew McConaughey’s first video game performance as the mysterious C. C. Orlev.

If you stuck around to the end of that trailer above, you might have realized I’m burying the lede – Exodus is also appearing on the cover of the next issue of Game Informer! You can read more about that new issue, which launches today, right here. For more Exodus, which launches April 7 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, you can read my exclusive cover story, filled with interviews and hands-on details.

Stage Tour Goes Live On December 10, With Hardware Bundles Up For Pre-Order Now

Game Informer

The era of plastic instruments may not be over. Stage Tour, a new rhythm game from RedOctane Games, will kick off its set on December 10, 2026.

In a new trailer shown at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, Motley Crue’s “Kickstart My Heart” led the release date announcement. Songs from bands like Paramore, Metallica, and Blink-182 are all on the setlist as well.

If you’re eager for the return of this particular era of rhythm gaming, hardware pre-order bundles are live now on the Stage Tour site as well. Prices vary depending on what instrument configurations you want and include some pre-order discounts; a game and guitar, for example, will currently cost $129.99, later increasing to $149.98. A full band kit bundle, with guitar, mic, and basic drum kit will run $299.99 at the moment, and there’s a higher option if you want some special cymbals for your drum kit.

It’s a little pricey, but it’s hard to deny that my wallet is fighting with my nostalgia for rocking out on plastic instruments. I’m hopeful that Stage Tour will put on a raucously good concert when it arrives this December.

Mega Man: Dual Override Gameplay Trailer Reveals New Robot Master And Proto Man’s Return

Game Informer

A new trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live gave us a new look at the Blue Bomber in action, including the reveal of a new foe and a familiar ally.

The video shows Mega Man doing what he does best: blasting apart Dr. Wily’s machines, though he has a new antagonist in the form of Twinkle Girl. She’s evidently the game’s first Robot Master, and actually looks rather pleasant and whimsical despite trying to kill Mega Man.  We also see Mega Man sporting a new suit that may either represent the power he receives from defeating Twinkle Girl, or a separate transformation in the vein of the armor set from Mega Man X. The trailer ends with the reveal of updated key art featuring  Mega Man’s longtime frenemy Proto Man.

Mega Man: Dual Override is coming in 2027 to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Silent Hill: Townfall Cast Impresses In New Trailer

Game Informer

We’re only a month out from another terrifying adventure, and the chance of both fog and scary creatures is very high.

Today’s Opening Night Live presentation gave us a new look at Silent Hill: Townfall. Konami’s long-running horror franchise continues to impress in the latest video, where we got a look at both some eerie new scenes from the game, as well as a good listen to the strong cast that will help to carry the project.

Horror games often lean heavily on voice acting to help carry the weight of the implied terror, and the new Silent Hill has some impressive talent helping to do just that. Emmy Award winner Terry O’Quinn, (Lost, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live), Kezia Burrows (Observation), and Jovan Adepo (3 Body Problem, IT: Welcome to Derry, The Odyssey) are all in place to offer up their skills.

The new trailer also offers brief glimpses at some of the frightening creatures that players can expect to encounter, including an especially disqueiting creature that towers up and out of the fog, with only its strange appendages dipping down into visibility, even as it casually drops human bodies from far above.

Silent Hill Townfall is on the way soon. Players can expect to take on the horror on September 24 on either PS5 or PC. You can read more about the game in our preview from earlier this summer.

DED.NET Is A New PUBG Multiplayer Shooter With Roguelite Progression

Game Informer

A new PUBG shooter has stormed onto the battlefield, full of sound and fury. DED.NET took the stage at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 tonight, broadcasting its particularly irreverent approach to an online first-person shooter.

In a trailer highlight the setting of a place called Cascadia in the ’90s, we saw a lot: characters doing penguin body-slides across the map, launching explosives from a graffiti-laden grenade launcher, and a guarantee that words used to describe DED.NET couldn’t be spoken on the Opening Night Live stage.

There’s an interesting sell under the gratuitous aesthetic, though; today’s trailer description describes a multiplayer FPS “with roguelite progression across runs,” which sounds a little intriguing. Hopefully we’ll see more of that as we learn more about the latest entry in the PUBG family.

Urban Open-World Action Game Ananta Has A New Trailer And Release Date

Game Informer

Ananta, the urban open-world action game by NetEase, got a new trailer during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live show. In addition to showing off the game’s story and gameplay, it finally revealed a 2027 release date.

Colloquially known online as “anime Grand Theft Auto”, Ananta comes from developer Naked Rain and centers on the premise “Go Viral. Save the world.” Players control a protagonist known simply as Captain, a member of a crumbling peacekeeping agency called the ACD. This organization handles the daily chaos that unfolds in metropolises such as the previously revealed Nova City. To rebuild the ACD – and also find your missing father – you must embark on a wacky quest to become the one thing that thrives in a world driven by algorithms and online culture: an internet influencer.

Gameplay revolves around gaining fame by completing story missions and other activities such as bounties, side quests, and smaller interactions like taking selfies with citizens. Every situation offers an opportunity to build reputation and expand your influence; the more famous you become, the more missions, resources, and influencer perks you’ll unlock.

The trailer also reveals the game’s second city, Chongxiao. This fictional metropolis is inspired by real-world cities such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Tokyo, and is a fully explorable sandbox featuring recreational destinations including gyms, restaurants, mahjong parlors, cat and maid cafes, clothing stores, hot springs, and more. You can also engage in various minigames, such as carnival games. Players traverse the large city in many ways: on the streets with cars, motorcycles, skateboards, and subways; on watercraft such as speedboats and yachts; in the sky with helicopters, hang gliders, and even flying cars.

Chongxiao’s population includes over 100 NPCs with individual stories and side quests. Helping builds relationships, and fostering a strong bond allows you to recruit citizens to join the ACD, which also unlocks new combat abilities and items. Ananta allows players to switch between controlling different ACD agents, which Naked Rain promises will offer a “distinct perspective, storyline, and approach to exploration and combat,” in a press release. Speaking of combat, the action is steeped in real-world martial arts, such as Shaolin kung fu, and players can seek out various masters to learn new fighting techniques. You can also dynamically interact with environmental objects to use as weapons.

Ananta is coming on January 15 for PlayStation 5 and PC via its own client as well as Steam.
