Free Taiko no Tatsujin customization items coming to Tekken 7 tomorrow, along with Eliza

With Eliza set to be released as paid DLC to all players starting tomorrow, we learned that she’ll be bringing even more new content along with her to Tekken 7. Revealed during the MASTERCUP Tekken Fight Club niconico stream earlier this week in Japan, a free set of 10 customization items from the rhythm game series Taiko no Tatsujin will be available — which will allow players to equip their favorite fighters with taiko characters, featuring various humorous and sound effects. It was also mentioned that Eliza herself will set you back a cool 500 yen (or about $5.00 USD here in America) if you were unable to pre-order the game or purchase a Day 1 Edition with a working code. You can see what some of these items will look like in-game, based off of their previous Arcade release back in August 2016, here.

Demon Machami is a super heel, while Shin rebels against his lineage in these CFN Portal profiles

After stepping into the ring with Meterorito Jr. and Antler Inoki, the new CFN character profiles continue, as the Shadaloo Combat Research Institute releases more Activity Reports on the various persons of the Street Fighter universe. As per usual, Private Nakagawa is back to provide narration for these profiles.

First up, the “Super Heel” and another superstar of the Squared Circle, Demon Machami!

Private Nakagawa: “We keep on introducing the pro-wrestlers. A skilled worker who uses powerful moves. She chose a ‘heel’ way of life for herself, and will continue until she burns out. A heel amongst heels, a super heel!” [“Super Heel” was the last gimmick of Devil Masami before her retirement.]

Mika’s seconds tried to enter the ring to help, but Mika stopped them from interfering. Mika’s resolution to a fair-and-square fight deeply impressed the crowd and Machami herself. Mika won the match, pinning Machami with her Dream Driver. After the match, Machami built a good friendship with Mika. She’s a very good singer.” [Devil Masami was also an enka singer, and released an album (“Rain of tears”) and various singles such as Silent Goodbye and 燃えつきるまで Moetsukiru made (“Until I burn out”). HoneyBee leaves Critical Reaction following 2nd place Injustice 2 finish at Evo 2017

After a two-year journey, Tim “HoneyBee” Commandeaur has announced his departure from Critical Reaction, following Evo 2017, on Twitter.

Known as the “Flash Lord” in Injustice: Gods Among Us — and as the top D’Vorah player in Mortal Kombat XL, with multiple top 8 finishes in both titles — his Injustice 2 career, though short, has been extremely explosive. After winning Toryuken 6 in May with Deadshot and Aquaman, the Canadian player finished 2nd at Evo 2017, with his Flash and Aquaman falling to eventual champion Noble|Dragon. Though along the way, he managed to defeat BxA|StarCharger, T7G|DR Gross, Echo Fox|Sonic Fox, and eliminate Echo Fox|Theo, two of the clear favorites to win the entire tournament.

With Bee now a free agent, and Injustice 2‘s first balance patch on the horizon that could potentially strengthen the Scarlet Speedster, it will be interesting to see what this Canadian’s future holds as the Injustice 2 Pro Series marches on. You can see his Tweet announcing his departure from the team below.

Regardless of what his future holds or on what team he’ll end up a part of next, we at Shoryuken wish HoneyBee all the best in his future endeavors within the fighting game community.

Street Fighter X Tekken version 2013 players “cross the line” with these round robin replays from Evo 2017

Though Street Fighter X Tekken would only grace the Evolution main stage twice — in 2012 and 2013 — Aaron “Psychoblue” Pinsky has made it his mission to keep the 2D tag team crossover title alive, by personally organizing side tournaments for the game at each and every event he attends, including the last four years of the Evolution Championship Series. He even recently organized a Discord server for fans of the game to convene and seek out competition. Side tournaments for titles left out of the main lineup are fairly commonplace now, but it is perhaps rare to see Japanese players travel across the planet for the sole purpose of entering one of these unofficial competitions. But such is the case with Esuta, who has reigned over the SFXT competition at Evo for three consecutive years, utilizing a wide variety of characters. He even tied for 7th in 2013.

This year, 8 warriors arrived to “cross the line” in Las Vegas, for a round robin-style tournament, to crown the newest Evo champion. With each player facing one another for points, with the two highest-scoring players meeting each other in the finals, play was expected to be sharp — as these fighters, which included the likes of Esuta, Hazama, Roknin, and even Psychoblue himself, battled it out for crossover tag team supremacy. Would Esuta retain his crown for the fourth straight year, or would we crown a new SFXT champion? You can find out for yourself with the full playlist of matches below.

Injustice 2 Watchtower livestream to discuss upcoming balance patch today at 1:00 PM PST

With the dust now fully settled from Evo, and the final character of Fighter Pack 1, Starfire, set for an August release, the Injustice 2 Watchtower livestream returns today to discuss the details of the game’s upcoming balance patch. Since Injustice 2‘s release, NetherRealm Studios has displayed an uncharacteristic — but welcome — hands-off approach to their newest title, as previous patches have mostly just implemented bug fixes and quality-of-life changes to the game. The only balance changes so far have come in the form of removing unintended block infinites and combos off of throw techs utilizing certain character’s Traits, along with some slight adjustments to some of the Gear Abilities not seen in competitive play.

Though this was done in an attempt to wash away their previous stigma of being “patch happy,” NRS has stated their intention to shake things up following the conclusion of Fighter Pack 1, and will be discussing some of the changes they’ll likely be implementing for the DC brawler’s first proper rebalancing. Though we have seen the first four major tournaments taken by four different players using at least four different characters, there seems to be a generally agreed-upon top and bottom tier already, with the likes of returning veterans Black Adam, Aquaman, Superman, Batman, Catwoman and newcomers Deadshot and Atrocitus sitting at the top of the food chain, while Swamp Thing, Captain Cold, Gorilla Grodd and The Joker seem to be in need of some minor adjustments to improve their current standing.

The stream will be going live later today at the usual time of 3:00 PM CST (1:00 PM PST) at https://www.twitch.tv/netherrealm. You can see the announcement Tweet below.

What are you hoping to see changed in Injustice 2’s first major balance patch? Give us your thoughts in the comments section below.

Street Fighter V: VesperArcade breaks down Abigail’s specials and V-System ahead of tomorrow’s release

Recently, VesperArcade posted a breakdown of Abigail’s basic normals and Target Combos, based off of the footage of him we’ve seen from the recent Winner Stays On stream. Now, with the eve of his Street Fighter V release upon us, Vesper has made a second video looking at the Mad Gear lieutenant’s specials and Variable System abilities.

First off, Vesper notes that his armored command run, Nitro Charge, can be followed-up with the punch, kick or throw of your choice, as well as his V-Skill. You can also cancel Nitro Charge before Abigail starts running across the screen by holding back for a backwards roll, though this requires a commitment to the action. With a myriad of tools to destroy or bypass projectiles, as well as a variety of command throws, several armored specials, a high and low counter V-Skill, and even the ability to OTG juggle foes with EX Giant Flip — should they fail to quick rise — Abigail could prove quite the opposing challenge for those who face him. His V-Trigger — Max Power — also appears to be very versatile, especially with it only being 2 bars. Catch the video below for Vesper’s full breakdown and thoughts on Mad Gear’s gear-head.

Abigail will be released tomorrow — July 25th — and is naturally included in the Season 2 Character Pass, along with his Battle Costume.

Tekken 7’s Eliza will be available for download on July 28th

Though Tekken 7 has been in the public’s hands on consoles for nearly two months now, there has still been an air of mystery as to when players who didn’t pre-order the game would be able to get their hands on DLC character Eliza. We know that the narcoleptic vampire, who debuted in Tekken Revolution, will be joining the Arcade roster, along with the other currently-console-exclusive characters as part of an update on July 27th.

Now that the Bandai Namco Entertainment panel has concluded at San Diego Comic-Con, we know that the “unrelenting night” will dawn for all on consoles and Steam July 28th, thanks to a Tweet from chief producer Katsuhiro Harada. Pricing details for her are unknown at this time, but she is not included in the game’s Season Pass.

Additionally, they spoke about Tekken 7’s next guest character, SNK’s Geese Howard. Maximilian, who attended the panel, snapped this screenshot of a slide about the King of South Town.

Are you excited to finally get a chance to play as Eliza if you didn’t pre-order the game? Will any of you be maining her once she becomes available for everyone? Give us your thoughts in the comments below.

Tekken 7 version 1.04 patch restores black color palettes in character customization

Yesterday, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Tekken 7 were updated to Version 1.04. Though no notes were officially released, the PS4’s Update History simply reads, “Fixed bugs related to some Customization items,” meaning that this 740 MB update was likely intended to restore the dark and black color palettes to Character Customization. These palettes were removed in Version 1.03, due to the discovery that a certain Dragunov costume could be painted entirely black.

Additionally, the Tekken 7 Twitter account stated that PC players would be receiving an update to the Steam version at the end of this month, with all of the currently-released console changes rolled into a one single patch. Harada also clarified that players should be able to use pure black colors “VERY soon. However, depending on the type of Customization, it will be somewhat closer to gray.” You can see the Tweets, as well as a screenshot of the PS4’s Update History, below.

Kenny Omega and Xavier Woods run it back in Tekken 7 in this hilarious skit from CEO 2017

At CEO 2016, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Kenny Omega and the WWE’s Austin Creed (A.K.A. Xavier Woods), faced off in a first-to-five Street Fighter V exhibition match following a war of words across social media, Wood’s YouTube gaming Channel UpUpDownDown, and even WWE and NJPW programming. Ultimately Omega and his Alex claimed victory over Woods’ Birdie, granting the Bullet Club leader possession of the CEO Championship.

Now, one year later, the two have returned to CEO 2017. Though the extravagant lifestyle of being a Champion, as well as a member of The Elite, has appeared to dull “The Cleaner’s” edge. Noticing this, Woods looks to take revenge in the newly-released battleground of Tekken 7. Will Omega’s Bryan Fury be able to “clean up” Xavier? Or will the Power of Positivity and the costume of Omega’s rival, IWGP Champion Kazuchika “Rainmaker” Okada, be able to guide Woods and his King to victory? Find out in the two-part encounter below. Be advised there is a bit of NSFW language used by Omega!
