Another week, another Ultimate from the Ultimates Ultra pack revealed for Killer Instinct! Iron Galaxy has promised to reveal all five of the Ultimates contained in the pack before its May 2nd release, having already showcasing Fulgore’s and Sadira’s.
Today, they move on to another Ultratech robotic creation–and one of the game’s newest characters–Kilgore, who recently became available again at a reduced price.
Beginning by launching a missile upwards into the sky, Kilgore then obliterates Maya in a manner extremely reminiscent of a legendary scene from Dragon Ball Z. You can check it out in all its glory below.
Be sure to check back next week for Riptor’s Ultimate, with ARIA’s closing out the pack in two weeks time. The Ultimates Ultra pack will be released free for all players on May 2nd.
What are your thoughts on this Ultimate? Does the DBZ nod bring back fond memories? Or are you waiting to see Riptor and ARIA’s in the coming weeks? Sound off in the comments.
Following last week’s breakdown of The Flash, Bane, and Captain Cold, as well as the Scarlet Speedster’s official trailer, NetherRealm Studios has announced that the next Watchtower livestream for Injustice 2 will take place this Wednesday, April 12th. Community Specialist Tyler Lansdown already promised us another triple-header, with one of the spotlighted characters being Gorilla Grodd; now we know the names of the other two, courtesy of the Injustice Twitter account.
Joining Grodd for character breakdowns will be his Society compatriot Scarecrow, who was recently revealed in the “It’s Good to be Bad” trailer and Firestorm, who we first saw on UpUpDownDown last month. Aside from Steve “16-Bit” Brownback describing Firestorm as “a far-ranged character who has a lot of good projectiles,” whose Trait is his Nuclear Level (which has three degrees, similar to Bane’s Venom), and Gorilla Grodd being playable in very early builds of the game, we haven’t seen much from this trio–so it should be a very noteworthy stream.
The action kicks off this Wednesday at 3:00 PM CST (1:00 PM PDT) on https://www.twitch.tv/netherrealm. As always, NRS employees will potentially answer your questions on stream if you use #AskTheWatchtower. If you’re interested in more Firestorm gameplay to hold you over, check out his trailer here.

The trailer–which you can see below–shows all 6 color variations (which includes his new cat plushie, that replaces his signature pillow) in addition to a few combos and intros.
Though no pricing details have been announced, Meitenkun’s pajamas, along with Kula’s sundress, will likely share Classic Iori’s price tag of $2.99. What do you think of this costume? Are any of you Meitenkun players eager to pick it up? Tell us in the comments!
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s re-release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC has undeniably sparked a revival for the franchise–with players new and old coming back to the title in earnest. However, some players may not be able to make it out to locals, instead having to rely on online play for their competitive fix. Finding a consistent source of online competition in a 6-year old title, with its players spread across a whopping five platforms, can prove challenging.
In an attempt to remedy this, trahh has created an online player database on the /r/MvC3 subreddit, allowing players to indicate their system(s) of preference, location, degrees of availability, and any other details they wish to provide in service of expanding their range of potential opponents. He has also provided a link to the Steam group for UMvC3, for any users who may want to join there.
You can fill out the form to join the list here, and can also view the spreadsheet, which has around 90 players listed at the time of this writing, here.
Gatoray has provided us with a trailer, released by SNK’s Facebook page, showing the costume in action, along with its six color options. You can view the video below.
No pricing information has been revealed as of this writing. Will this be a costume you’ll be picking up, Kula players? Let us know your thoughts on it in the Comments.
In the latest episode of The Fighter’s Dojo, Frabisaur takes a look at another concept that can separate lower and higher levels of play: frame data. To the uninitiated, it may just look like a series of random numbers, but knowledge of it is essential to take your game to the next level, and it’s a concept that can be applied to all titles. Questions answered in the video include “What is frame data?” and “Why is it so important?” He also mentions that this video will have follow-ups to explain how to apply frame data both offensively and defensively in greater detail. Frabisaur begins by defining frame data.
The simplest way I could describe frame data to you, is that it’s how we describe the animations of character’s movements. Frame data has to do with animations, and there are three things we measure when we talk about it. They are the startup frames of animation, the active frames of animation and the recovery frames of animation.
Utilizing Street Fighter V’s replay functions to look at a moment frame-by-frame, Frabisaur takes Necalli’s Standing Heavy Kick, which has 12 startup frames, 4 active frames and 21 recovery frames. Slowing the move down, he shows the entire animation of his leg at each of those three points, as well as how frame data impacts hitstun, blockstun and reeling animations.
In closing, Frabisaur emphasizes that frame data will help players have a greater understanding of the levels of commitment associated with every attack, and will also have deeper insight into what makes combos possible.
You can view the video below, and can also check out his past episodes on hitboxes and hurtboxes, as well as a mini on crossups, to supplement this content.
Though he has a schedule of episodes planned, Frabisaur is open to taking suggestions for future videos from viewers, so feel free to chime in with an idea. You can also follow him on Twitter at Frabisaur and catch his stream at twitch.tv/frabisaur for more tips and demonstrations.
We’re officially in day 3 of The King of Fighters XIV Version 2.0, and players are still eagerly hard at work with the new DLC characters, looking to flesh out what they’re all fully capable of.
To kick things off, we have a compilation of trials for all four of the new fighters, courtesy of Games In HD, who also uploaded each character’s new theme for your listening pleasure.
Next, we have a Whip combo exhibition from the COMBONAUTS, showing off some stylish sequences from the newcomer, due to her ability to turn opponents’ projectiles into a slow-moving orb for dirty mixups.
Gatoray shows us the damage Vanessa can do with between 1-5 bars of meter.
Rhuel47 also put together some combos for the female boxer, including a 79-hitter.
Lastly, Apolo Loussalier brings us another Rock Howard combo video: “Break The Limit.”
For more KOF XIV content, you can check out our day 1 roundup here, and a Joe combo tutorial here.
The Street Fighter V balance change discussions keep rolling out from VesperArcade; this time he looks at the most beautiful member of Shadaloo’s Four Heavenly Kings, Vega. The new buffs for the Spanish matador are aimed at providing more incentive for him to switch between his two stances, as Capcom feels the non-claw form is superior due to its higher damage output.
The hit advantage of his standing heavy punch with claw has been increased to +7, with reduced pushback on hit and block to improve his damage and options following a stance cancel after he confirms. His clawed crouching heavy punch is now plus on both hit and block–allowing for more pressure–as well as conversions into his lights for combos, or a Critical Art for huge damage. The Bloody Kiss Azul version of his V-Trigger is also now invincible from the first frame after hit, to prevent unfavorable trades after proper usage.
Perhaps the biggest buff to Vega in this new patch is his significantly improved clawed Flying Barcelona Attack, which will provide a myriad of new setups for Vega, some of which Vesper demonstrates.
Capcom greatly buffed Vega’s wall dive with claw on. They really want you to use this more and reward you for landing it. First off, it’s now +3 on block, so it’s still his turn. Second, they increased the damage and now you can juggle into pretty much anything you want. Right now in Season 2, after you land with the Claw, you don’t have too many options., but now you can go into pretty much any normal or you can even cancel into another wall dive for gimmicks.
EX Crimson Terror’s movement distance, which was reduced in Season 2, has now been improved to be in-between the current and original Season 1 versions of the move.
In closing, VesperArcade offers up his usual final thoughts on the impact of these changes:
My final verdict on Vega, in this patch alone, is buffed. So even though Vega’s gotten some of the most buffs in this April patch, it doesn’t seem like Capcom is focusing on any of his weaknesses… Instead, they really wanted to encourage Vega players to use both his stances equally, so most of his buffs focus on his claw stance to make it more rewarding, and to just make the character more interesting in general, since he does have a larger kit than most.
You can see the full video above, and can also check out VesperArcade’s additional coverage of the other changes coming to SFV:
