Next Injustice 2 Character to be Revealed This Tuesday, February 7th

With the game scheduled for a May release, the hype train for Netherrealm Studios’ Injustice 2 just keeps on rolling. After the screechingly-good reveal of Black Canary earlier this week, we already have a date for the next character reveal, which will occur this Tuesday February 7th, according to an announcement on the official Injustice website.

Will we finally get a reveal trailer for the villainous Brainiac, the Society’s Poison Ivy or Bane, or perhaps a new hero or villain entirely? Only time will tell, but keep your browser locked to Shoryuken for all the latest news on Injustice 2 as it arrives!

Injustice 2 launches on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 16th, 2017.

VesperArcade Locks On to Cammy’s Street Fighter V Season Two Changes with These Demonstration Videos

VesperArcade continues his demonstration series of Street Fighter V Season Two character changes with a look at Cammy. Considered by many to be a strong character in the game’s initial Season, she’s caused a bit of a stir in the first month of Season Two, as many believe she was buffed into one of the strongest characters in the current climate.

Though her Cannon Spikes had their invincibility reduced, the EX version has increased juggle potential when used in air combos. Her EX Cannon Strike does more damage, in exchange for getting 4 more frames of landing recovery, making it a bit more difficult to pressure opponents afterwards. Her Spiral Arrows also have more juggle potential when used in the air, while the EX version has projectile invincibility for the entire animation, making it easier to deal with zoning. Several normals were improved, by either getting sped up, or becoming more advantageous on hit. Lift Upper is now plus on hit and block, making it a better pressure tool. Perhaps her most striking change is the recovery reduction on her V-Skill, as well as it becoming safe on block.  The hit effect was also changed to leave opponents standing, along with giving her frame advantage. Vesper gave his final thoughts on the changes.

Overall, I would say greatly buffed, because of how strong Cammy was in Season 1. She has even better pressure now on normals, which is insane that Capcom would buff that, especially her standing Medium Punch and her B+MP. Her V-Reversal, one of the worst in the game, got buffed. This is especially important because it crosses you up, it turns the tables. So if you’re in the corner, you put your opponent in the corner if they don’t stop it. She’s already a character that hits you once and she can snowball, but now she has even more juggle options to get more damage. Cammy was already considered a top tier character in Season 1. The fact that Capcom buffed her pressure and combo potential even more is going to make Cammy one of the best characters in Season 2 in my opinion.

You can hear about all her changes in full below.

He also provided a visual look at her changes and new combos.

Featuring a mix of current and classic titles, including Street Fighter V, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, The King of Fighters XIV, Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom 2, among others.

Some of the more interesting moments include a pair of Vegas scoring a Double KO with their Critical Arts hitting at the same time, Tracer and Sombra taking their battles from Overwatch into the ring of Street Fighter V, King hitting a Home Run with one of Akuma’s Gohadoukens, a combo into the recently removed Ramon LP Dash Cancel Infinite, and Sagat being frozen in mid-air when trying to punish Vega’s Ultra II. NetherRealm Studios: The Second Wave of Injustice Beta Codes Will Be Released Alongside Version 2

Following Tuesday’s Injustice Watchtower Livestream, the first wave of codes for the Injustice 2 online beta went live: allowing thousands of eager players to get their hands on an early version of the game, similar to the Mortal Kombat X enhanced online beta. For those of us still twiddling our thumbs and refreshing our inboxes in hopes of receiving a code, NetherRealm Studios has provided some information on when the next round will be distributed. An admin at the WB Games forums, NRS-Lanny, posted earlier today that the developers have already “fixed multiple issues and bugs for the next update of the beta, and will continue to improve the experience as data comes in. When version 2 of the beta is released, more codes will go out.”

During the course of the MKX EO beta, each version provided bug fixes, balance changes and additional characters to try out. Currently, the only heroes and villains available are Superman, Batman, Supergirl and Atrocitus. Could Aquaman, Gorilla Grodd, Wonder Woman, Blue Beetle, or the Suicide Squad’s Harley Quinn and Deadshot join the fray? Only time will tell. For now, we can only follow the Injustice Twitter account for updates.

Learn How to Exploit Liu Kang’s Flame Fist Openings in Mortal Kombat XL with SylverRye’s Guide

GutToughGaming’s SylverRye is a strong Liu Kang player, who has been quickly making a name for himself over the last few months with several strong tournament placings–most recently getting 9th at Kumite In Tennessee 2017. In an effort to help the Mortal Kombat XL community level up, he has released a guide showcasing various ways to deal with the openings that can be found in Kang’s Flame Fist pressure. He demonstrates these methods with Takeda, but encourages all players to hit up the training room with their own characters to find the specific solutions that work for them.

If Liu cancels his Windmill Punches into Dragon’s Roar (DB2), it is possible to: backdash; take the hit and be knocked away from him; punish the Windmill Punches (which are -16 on block, regardless of whether or not he Meter Burns them) before the cancel; check him with a D1; neutral jump over DB2 to make it whiff, and get a full combo; or jump forward to create some distance. He then shows ways to deal with Windmill Punches into Low Fireball–which is gapless–but some characters like Takeda and Triborg can get a neutral jump punish, or backdash it. Cancels into his Dragon Parry (DB3) can be dealt with by low poking him with something like a D3, or catching him with a neutral jump punch. You can also wait until he’s recovering and punish. However, if he Meter Burns them, the punches last longer and launch at the end, guaranteeing a DB2. Some characters can backdash, but no one can jump out.

Lastly, he covers some of FF’s more gimmicky tactics. He also promises a future video on how to deal with Dragon’s Fire. You can see the video below.

NetherRealm Studios’ First Injustice Watchtower Live Streams Next Tuesday; Exclusive Character Gameplay Reveal to Come

It’s been a huge week for Injustice 2 fans. After revealing the title’s release date, we were treated to a new story trailer and in-game screenshots confirming new challengers Robin and Brainiac, the returns of the Flash and Green Lantern, and teases of Bane and Poison Ivy–and on top of it all, the ominous Darkseid revealed as pre-order bonus DLC for the title.

Now it seems NRS is going to be providing us with another large shot of information fairly soon, as when the story trailer was uploaded to the official InjusticeGame YouTube Channel, it came with a special annotation that read, “Next Tuesday Jan. 24th, watch an exclusive character gameplay reveal on the Injustice Watchtower Livestream! https://www.twitch.tv/netherrealm.” No start time has been yet announced.

During the pre-release of Mortal Kombat X, and continuing whenever a DLC character would be revealed, the developers would host a “Kombat Kast” showcasing gameplay and balance patch changes. This will likely be in a similar vein to those streams. Perhaps we’ll get our first glimpse at Darkseid or Deadshot, who has not had any full gameplay shown since his reveal… Regardless, it’s sure to be a fun show, so don’t forget to tune in! You can see the trailer with the annotation below.

The Injustice 2 Beta Is Now Open for Registration

The news just keeps on coming for Injustice 2 fans. Following the announcement of the game’s release date, a new cinematic trailer revealing several new characters, and the arrival of Darkseid as a pre-order bonus, Ed Boon’s latest Twitter hint–which is decidedly less cryptic than his usual teasers–implied earlier today that we’d be seeing a Beta test for Injustice 2 sometime in the near future.

You can view the tweet below, where Boon displays a picture of characters in the Greek alphabet, noting, “Don’t know why, but I can’t help feeling like something’s missing today….” Upon examination, the character absent from the photo is, of course, “beta.”

The mystery didn’t last long, as an Injustice 2 beta has now been officially announced:

If you want in on the test, head over the the beta site and register!

Back before the launch of the Mortal Kombat XL update, along with NRS’s new rollback-based netcode (which this title will be sporting from day 1), they held an “Enhanced Online Beta,” allowing players to try out the new netcode for themselves–as well as some of the character balance changes–before it was all released to the public. Injustice: Gods Among Us also received a demo version back in 2013, but its features were strictly offline.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you excited for the Injustice 2 beta? Do you hope they’ll take feedback on the netcode, and perhaps even character balance? Let us know in the Comments! Injustice 2 is set to be released on May 16th.

Michael Murray Confirms Tekken 7 Console Release Date to Be Revealed Next Week

It’s been a long, long wait for Tekken fans, when it comes to the series’ latest installment being released on consoles. The 7th iteration of the franchise has been available in arcades since March 2015–with the title even having received an updated version, Fated Retribution, last July. Fortunately for fans of the King of Iron Fist Tournament, the long wait will finally be over soon: as Michael Murray, one of the title’s game designers (and who generally appears at events as a translator for Executive Producer Katsuhiro Harada) responded to a fan on Twitter recently, saying that the release date would be revealed “next week.” Last month, Bandai Namco mentioned that we would be seeing news about a release date for the game in January, so it looks like that revelation is indeed just right around the corner. You can see Murray’s reply below.
