Guile was already a solid character in Season 2 of Street Fighter V. With his fast charge times and his ability to build a wall that was difficult to get around, he was far and away stronger than most of the competition. Season 3 has given even more of a reason to pick the character up, with his V-Trigger II.

This V-Trigger allows him to not only do a double flash kick with his EX Flash Kick, but his normal version also shoots out a projectile which can make it tougher to punish his blocked Flash Kicks. In this video, VesperArcade discusses the many uses — and the strength — of this V-Trigger.

While Ibuki’s bomb in V-Trigger I was very strong in Street Fighter V‘s second season. However, many top players are adopting her second V-Trigger in Season 3, which sees her throw out a giant shuriken.

While the jury has been out on whether or not it is the most viable option, Shanks Luffy has compiled a quick video, showing off the combo potential of Ibuki’s Fuma Shuriken. Included in the video are various tournament-viable resets, along with a few fun tricks you probably won’t see in a tournament set. These include pulling five target combos in one combo, eleven kunais in one combo, and a seventy hit combo that includes a Critical Art.

While getting full combos off of counter-hits can be tricky in any game — as you may catch one without expecting it — Tekken 7‘s Claudio has a solid counter-hit launcher in his 4,3 string. Because of its short start-up of 12 frames, you can actually interrupt some of your opponents pressure if they get too greedy with it.

Getting the counter-hit is actually easy, but the fun part is getting the conversion off of it reliably. Fortunately, this video shows a plethora of options to convert with, including his back 4, as well as Starburst. Using these will be key to getting damage in critical moments.

It’s official — NuckleDu has parted ways with Team Liquid. While he had hinted as possibly doing so in January when his contract expired, he has now confirmed that he will likely be signing a new contract with another team soon.

Given the history he had with the organization as their first fighting game player — as well as the success he experienced with the team — Team Liquid posted a farewell video to honor him and their special relationship with Du. While we currently wait for his announcement of his new team, we look back with fond memories of his time in a Team Liquid jersey.

Capcom recently announced a patch intended to fix several bugs in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. However, there are still some remnants that have went unchecked, and one in particular affects R. Mika — or shall we say Nadeshiko — in a bizarre way.

Her V-Trigger II sees Nadeshiko runs in with a steel chair, hell-bent on damaging anyone in her path. However, in certain situations, she’ll teleport in with the steel chair and then teleport out like a character in Street Fighter II: Rainbow Edition. Nadeshiko clearly needs to work on her teleportation powers.

No doubt this will get patch out soon, but enjoy Nadeshiko’s phase-shifting abilities for the time being.

While tiers are a very popular way to decide your character in competitive fighting games, online play can skew the character popularity away from the most powerful. However, in Tekken 7, it appears as though the correlation between strong and popular sticks very close together.

Rounding out the top three by a long shot are Paul, Dragunov, and Bryan — three characters that are considered strong and easy to use by many. While other characters that are considered strong — such as Xiaoyu — are located near the bottom of the list, it’s worth noting that she takes far more effort to make work in the competitive scene.

When is it ever a bad day for a Tekken combo video? Tekken 7 has some amazing potential for combos, and even practical combos can look very flashy. However, the impractical combos far exceed the flashiness, and to players that understand the system and the relevant frame data know how amazing these combos are.

This combo video features a plethora of characters, including Jin, Jack-7, Hwoarang, and Geese showing off some amazing carries. It also showcases an Alisa combo off her exploding head launcher — something that would likely never see the light of day outside of combo videos.

With Frosty Faustings X and Evo Japan in the bag, and the community having two weeks in the lab and online with Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, we are starting to discuss potential character rankings for the game. Bear in mind that no tier list is perfect, and things will change the more we learn about the game.

With that said, VesperArcade has released his own personal tier list. While he bases it considerably on Tokido and Mago’s tier list, there are some deviations between the two, as he explains in the video.
