Capcom to Release Full Capcom Pro Tour 2017 Details in Late February

We all knew that Capcom Pro Tour would return for a 2017 season, after the massive success of the last couple of years. Details, however, had been scarce on the tournament series–with the only announced stop on the tour so far being Final Round 20.

However, that is soon to change. Capcom recently announced that details on the first few events outside of Final Round will be announced within the coming weeks.

Further, they announced that full details of the 2017 edition of Capcom Pro Tour will be announced in late February.

No other details, including tour format, have been announced as of this time.

“Nothing’s Ever in the Bag” — Echo Fox’s FGC Team Manager Talks about Commitment

Echo Fox has gone hard in the paint during the free agency period of Street Fighter V–and the FGC in general–in between season 1 and 2. They signed a large swath of players across the span of a few days, and looks poised to be a force to be reckoned with this year.

But if you ask Antonio Javier–FGC manager of Echo Fox, and former FGC manager of Evil Geniuses–he would tell you that even with an impressive roster, nothing is guaranteed. He states that “being in a prestigious team like Evil Geniuses and now Echo Fox, you always have a target on your back.”

He also discusses his unique role in the FGC as a manager of a large esports decision, as well as his background with the game. When asked about what drives him to keep the roles he’s maintained in the community, he states, “I got … satisfaction in mentoring the players, in kind of guiding them along the way, which is why I can say that this is truly a dream job for me.” He also talks about Echo Fox’s commitment to the FGC, saying, “But Echo Fox wanted to dive right in and show the community that they are very serious about investing in it, and … my signing along with the team shows a lot of commitment.”

CEOtaku Will Return to Orlando, Florida on September 23 and 24

The CEO series of events have become one of the largest series in the United States, let alone the Southeast. From starting out in humble and hurried origins in 2010, it has grown into a main event in June, a Smash-centric event known as CEO Dreamland in April, and their Anime-centric event CEOtaku in September.

This year the latter event finally has its dates penciled in, as Alex Jebailey announced the dates of the third iteration of CEOtaku. The event will take place at the Wyndham Hotel in Orland,o on September 23rd and 24th of 2017. The event–as always–will feature tournaments for a variety of anime-style fighting games, such as BlazBlue and Guilty Gear.

Unsolved Mysteries: Akuma Disappears from Final Boss Battle in This Super Street Fighter II Turbo Glitch

This is Missing Person with a most ironic missing person report: while we know most everything there is to be known about Super Street Fighter II Turbo, there are still a few things that we don’t always see or understand.

Take this for instance. Silentscope was recently playing through the single-player mode on the Japanese version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Having triggered the right conditions, he fought Gouki (Akuma) instead of Dictator (M. Bison) for the final boss. However, he said that at around the 10 second mark, Akuma disappeared from the screen. Having lost the round by health deficit when the timer ran out, the game froze. Trying to award the round to Akuma, the game couldn’t–because the character asset was no longer available.

While he admits to playing this via emulator, the fact is that this is a strange glitch, and people within the ST community have yet to conjure up an explanation for Akuma’s untimely disappearance.

So where did Akuma go? That’s a question we hope to answer in the near future.

Panda Global Signs Two Super Smash Bros. Players in Time for Genesis 4

Just on the cusp of Genesis 4, Panda Global has made the move to sign two more players within the Super Smash Bros. community, and both on very opposite ends of the spectrum.

Rich Brown is one of the signings, who is a strong player in both Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. With Brawl oft neglected at tournaments these days, Brown will be playing Super Smash Bros. for Wii U at Genesis 4.

The more amazing signing was SuPeRbOoMfAn. He is a top player in the original Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo 64, and will be focused solely on that at Genesis. While it could be perplexing that they are signing someone focused on the original title, there is a strong revival of that game currently happening, so it should be quite interesting to see the direction they take with their signings from herein.

Get Savage with This Raspberry Combo Video for Dragonball Xenoverse 2

While not the most prominent fighting game series on the planet in the competitive scene, the Dragonball series has been a mainstay of fighting games for a long while. They are often considered casual, but fun enough to pull out to play for those crazy nights when you’re bored with more hardcore competitive play.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t the potential for interesting combos within its game mechanics. Here is a combo video for Raspberry, which shows some advanced combos that require great timing–with some being doggedly long!

Daigo Umehara’s Re-emerging Ryu Takes on EmuEmu’s Zangief in This Online Street Fighter V Set

HyperX’s Daigo Umehara experienced a bit of a character crisis at the beginning of season 2. We saw him play around with Urien, and Guile for a time. Whether this was exploring potential new mains, or practicing characters he has difficulties with in order to understand them, has yet to be fully determined.

Regardless, we now see him back with his trademark Ryu in season 2, and doing well. However, we see him running through a bit of a wall as he faces EmuEmu’s Zangief online.

Are we seeing Daigo face another matchup he struggles with? Time will tell.

Chie Satonaka never really saw much exposure at the highest competitive levels in Persona 4 Arena, or its update Ultimax. That, however, doesn’t mean that Chie can’t kick it with the rest of the cast, and that is exactly what we see in this combo video.
