sneaky_coyote shares a resource guide for Tekken 7’s Master Raven

Master Raven is one of the more unorthodox characters in Tekken 7. She lacks a standard hopkick, has poor punishment options, and relies heavily on advanced stance and crouch dash use. None of this means she’s a bad character (far from it!) but it does mean she has a learning curve that could prove daunting to new players.

That’s why a guide like sneaky coyote’s is so useful. More then just frame data, this guide gives a detailed breakdown of every move, its risk, and its usefulness. Since a large chunk of learning a character is just breaking down a move-set, this guide is a great starting point for Apprentice Ravens.

Sea Leaf Dojo explains hitboxes, hurtboxes, and collision boxes in fighting games

If you’re just beginning your journey into studying the mechanical workings of fighting games, the idea of a hitbox may be little more then trivia to you. Though many (not all!) fighting game developers don’t allow you to see the actual hitboxes, understanding their role in the game you play is critical to your development as a player.

Sea Leaf Dojo recently put out an educational video on the way hitboxes, hurtboxes, and collision boxes shape interactions in fighting games. Its a great starting point for those curious to know what’s going on behind the scenes of their favorite fighters.

TDG Fergus documents every free Rage Drive setup for Tekken 7’s Asuka

Its no secret that Asuka’s Rage Drive is very good in Tekken 7. The list of positives are outstanding: it’s +11 on block, starts combos and hits mid. If that wasn’t enough for you, Asuka can also combo into it from a wide variety of situations.

Tekken pro TDG|Fergus has compiled every stray hit that can lead to a free Rage Drive. As a character with several odd and long strings, this opens up a lot of big damage opportunities from seemingly inconsequential pokes like the B1+4 string, and safe crushing mids like 3+4.

Tekken 7 sets an August 31st launch date for DLC Pack #1, adds Tekken Bowling and costumes

When the original reveal of Tekken 7‘s new Tekken Bowling mode occurred, the tentative date for its release was “sometime in August”. It’s a photo finish, but it looks like Bandai Namco will keep their promise.

DLC Pack #1 is set to launch on August 31st, adding Tekken Bowling and 5 new costume sets:

  • Blood Vengeance School Uniforms for Xiaoyu & Alisa
  • Traditional Japanese Fundoshi for male fighters
  • Swimsuits for female fighters

  • Idol Master themed outfits for female fighters

Never drop the blue stuff with Novriltataki’s Tekken 7 Windup Uppercut tutorial

Though officially listed as the “Windup Uppercut” in the Tekken 7 command list, the just-frame version of Jack-7’s combo filling uppercut is generally (and amusingly) referred to as the Electric Mecha God Fist (or EMGF) in the Tekken community. While not at all critical to the robot’s neutral play (EMGF’s just-frame blue spark is purely cosmetic and changes nothing about its frame data), it is the highest damage Jack can get in select situations. And it’s flashy. That’s important, yeah?

For the situations where learning EWGF can beef your combo damage up, such as off of FF+1, novriltataki has created a great tutorial video. In it he walks you through the input, and a few tricks to understanding why you might be having trouble with it.

Pokkén Tournament DX demo goes live today for Nintendo Switch

Following the conclusion of the Pokkén World Championships, Nintendo announced that Pokkén Tournament DX would receive a free demo on the Nintendo Switch. While a demo made sense, it was up in the air as to when the demo would drop: no date or details accompanied the announcement.

Well, we have a date and time now, at least! It’s today, 9:00 PM PDT.

Its still unclear what exactly will be in the demo (presumably at least one of the new characters would be playable), but the quick announcement is good news for those looking to see how will DX preforms on the Switch. Its also a good sign Nintendo is willing to promote the game, and build off the momentum from a world event.

The Prince shares how to punish Rashid’s movelist with Akuma in Street Fighter V

Season 2 of Street Fighter V has been very kind to Rashid. SFV’s offense-oriented world plays to his high-octane strengths, and the series of quality of life buffs he received only made him a bigger threat over time. With all that in mind, The Prince has made a guide to punishing Rashid with Akuma for ECThrowdown.

Even if you aren’t an Akuma main, though, it’s still worth checking out: The Prince mercifully listed the frame data for each Rashid move in video, so you can use this as the basis for experimenting with your own character!
