Marvel Minds Returns with an In-Depth Look at Not Enough Damage vs. K-Brad at KIT 2017

After a bit of a hiatus, Marvel Minds has returned with another in-depth Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 match breakdown. For those not familiar with it, Marvel Minds had BROKENTIER’s Samantha “Persia” Hancock taking a look at notable tournament matches and breaking them down so that players can learn from them. For this return episode, Persia is joined by Seef, aka SBK, who will apparently be a part of future Marvel Minds videos moving forward.

For this return episode of Marvel Minds, Persia and Seef take a look at GB|Not Enough Damage’s match against EG|K-Brad from Kumite in Tennessee 2017. They start by examining both players’ team choices and playstyle, as well as both players’ thoughts about the match. Then, they go into the match itself, explaining what each player is trying to do in the various scramble situations in the set, including K-Brad’s amazing Trish comeback in game 5.

Street Fighter V Login and League Point Reset Issue Fixed, Points Restored

Recently, Street Fighter V’s matchmaking servers underwent a short maintenance period. While this was meant to address a few issues, it inadvertently caused a few more issues as well–some players had difficulty logging in and, more importantly, some had their League Points reset to zero.

Capcom however was quick to respond to this and have now stated that the issues have been fixed. The login issues caused by the update have been addressed, and players shouldn’t have trouble doing so.

More importantly, those players who had their League Point reset to zero after the maintenance should now find that these points have been restored to them.

Performing updates on a system is always a tricky thing, and occasional bugs and glitches are somewhat unavoidable. In times like these, a swift and timely response and resolution is the best thing to hope for–something that Capcom has done in this specific instance.

[Editor’s note: since this maintenance, I still have personally experienced the temporary version of the 0 LP glitch a couple of times in the last few days. Keep an eye on your LP, as this might not be completely fixed yet…]

Sea Leaf Dojo Goes In-Depth with Chun Li with This Multi-Part Series on Her Street Fighter V Season 2 Changes

As arguably the best character in the game’s first season, Chun-Li has received a number of changes for the second season of Street Fighter V. With most of these changes perceived as nerfs however, the number of people playing the character has seemingly dropped off.  But how do these changes really affect her? It’s that question that Sea Leaf Dojo is looking to answer.

Sea Leaf Dojo is currently doing a multi-part video series that analyzes her changes for season 2 of Street Fighter V.  The latest installment of the series, part 5, covers her air Lighting Legs, including the instant air ones, and her Spinning Bird Kick. Covered are the changes to frame data, damage, hit and hurt boxes, as well as any new combos that are possible.

In addition to this, you can also check out the previous 4 installments of the series:

Echo Fox’s FGC Manager Antonio Javier Talks about the Importance of Teams

In recent years, big esports teams have made a lot of inroads into the fighting game community, signing up a number of top players. However, despite this, the genre’s one-on-one nature has more than a few people wondering if teams really bring anything–aside from sponsorships–to a player.

In a recent interview with PVP Live, Echo Fox’s FGC Manager Antonio Javier argues that teams actually do matter. Aside from helping each other out during tournaments, ha also says having teammates also helps a player develop. “Teammates will be more inclined to share your own tendencies against various players,” Javier states,”It always helps to have someone there to give you feedback.”

He also states how having veteran players in a team means that they can help out the newer players. He specifically talks about Julio Fuentes, who despite being their tenured player, is still somewhat new, and how someone like him can benefit from having a veteran like Justin Wong on the team.

In addition to this, he also addresses the possibility of team tournaments. Javier states that he does hope that these things become more common down the line stating that the team format is something that is compelling to watch. As an example, he points out the recent Cooperation Cup 15 and how it was one of the most hype tournaments in recent memory.

Of course, Javier talks about a few more things aside from the above. Check out the full interview over at PVP Live.

Chun-Li Doesn’t Need Meter with This 473-Damage Crush Counter V-Trigger Combo in Street Fighter V

With the changes made to her in Season 2, we’ve seen something of a drop-off of players using Chun-Li. That said, despite the changes she’s still actually a dangerous character in the right hands.

One of the things that makes her dangerous is her damage output, especially with V-Trigger. This damage output is put fully on display with this optimized crush counter combo from Magikarp (using V-Trigger) that does a whopping 473 damage and 685 stun.

Now, while it is a corner-only combo, it’s still very practical since it mostly involves just juggling her opponent with standing roundhouse kicks. Additionally, since it ends with her Lightning Legs, it may be possible to tack on more damage at the end by cancelling it into her Critical Art.

5 Minute Fundamentals Breaks Down the Basics of Hit Boxes

Hit boxes are some of the most basic components of any 2D fighting game. That said, not everyone is able to truly grasp how they work.

To help newer players wrap their heads around them, lordofultima focuses on hit boxes in the latest installment of their “5 Minute Fundamentals” series. The video below goes over normal hit boxes, push boxes, vulnerable hit boxes (also known as hurt boxes), and the like, and also goes over the various properties that can be assigned to them. While the game explains them in the context of Street Fighter V, the concepts here can be applied to most other 2D fighters as well.

Explore Chun-Li’s Synergy with the Super Sword Bros. in This Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Combo Video

Chun-Li isn’t exactly a character associated with top-level Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 play. While she’s been a series staple, she doesn’t quite have the tools and the consistent damage output to make her a regular pick in tournaments. That said: she still has a great kit for doing some flashy combos, especially when given the right team.

In this new video, akaJoness explores some of her combo potential and synergy when teamed up Devil May Cry characters Dante and Vergil–a combination commonly known as “Chun May Cry.” The video below goes both ways, with Dante and Vergil both backing Chun-Li up to extend the combos she starts, as well as with Chun-Li backing both brothers up to extend their combos. The results are stylish combos for everyone on the team.

Street Fighter V Online Glitch Temporarily Knocks Players Back to Rookie Rank

As previously reported, Street Fighter V’s servers are down for maintenance today. While no details on what exactly this maintenance period will be addressing have been dropped, it’s likely meant to–at the very least–fix a number of glitches with the current system.

One such glitch is this one demonstrated in a video by Ditch Pickler. In the video below, he demonstrates how, after a loss in Ranked, he was suddenly put back in Rookie rank (with zero League Points), down from Super Gold, despite only losing 1 League Point. Happily, this is only temporary–as the rank fixes itself in later matches. There are thankfully no reports of this LP “loss” being permanent.

Why this happens is currently unknown. However, it’s possible that the temporary rank down was due to a connection issue with the server, and the game being unable to fetch the player’s correct rank in time. [I have personally experienced this glitch myself, as well. – Editor]
