Street Fighter V Trading Cards Now Available on Steam

Trading cards are one of the small, fun things that Valve has added onto their Steam service in previous years. Earned by simply playing certain games, these virtual treasures can be collected and traded like regular trading cards.

Now, all of you Street Fighter V players can begin gathering cards as well, as Capcom recently announced that their flagship fighter now supports this functionality. Like all Steam trading cards, half of the set can be collected by playing the game, while the other half must be traded from other players.

Those who collect the whole Street Fighter V set can then craft their cards into a special game badge that is displayed on their Steam profile. Additionally, this badge also gives players special bonus items, including emoticons, profile backgrounds, and even coupons.

Street Fighter V Glitch Causes Nash to Retain EX Flash

Any new game is bound to have a handful of glitches no matter how hard the developers try to find them all. The fighting game genre itself is full of stories of weird bugs being found in some of its most respected installments.

Street Fighter V is no exception. We’ve seen Vega fly and characters battle in space, and a brand new glitch creates an interesting graphical effect on Nash. As the replay below demonstrates, when Nash’s EX Moonsault is blocked and hit with a V-Reversal, it causes Nash to retain the yellow-ish EX flash until his opponent scores a clean hit on him.

While not exactly the most game breaking of bugs, it could cause some confusion when trying determine if Nash is using an EX move or not when the glitch is active.

Ryu’s Parry Opens Better Punish Opportunities Against Cammy in Street Fighter V

Ryu’s parry is a potentially powerful, if hard to master, tool in Street Fighter V. While easier to perform than its Street Fighter III incarnation, delicate timing is still necessary to avoid the disastrous consequences of a whiff.

In his latest video, Sebastian Rikk demonstrates how Ryu can use the parry to punish various parts of Cammy’s offense. Due to their pushback on block and possibility to lead to dangerous frame traps, parrying her moves is often the better solution, so give the guide below a look if you’re looking to put down the Killer Bee.

Kung Lao Can Permanently Lose His Hat in Mortal Kombat X

Arguably, the most iconic aspect of Kung Lao’s design is the razor-edged hat he’s worn since his debut in Mortal Kombat 2. But in Mortal Kombat X, it seem that he can permanently lose his iconic headwear when facing the Alien’s Konjurer variation.

As shown in the following video from Ketchup and Mustard, this glitch occurs when the Alien plants an egg and then throws Kung Lao right as the facehugger makes contact. Although the classic fighter typically regains his hat afterwards, the bug, fo some reason, keeps it from returning to Kung Lao as intended.

Without his hat, some of Kung Lao’s normals lose their hitboxes and a few of his special moves stop working entirely. And while there’s a tight window for making this happen, this setup is something that Konjurer Alien players will likely use as a practical reset, increasing the chances of this glitch occurring in a real match.

Persona Takes on Nash in Latest Street Fighter V Combo Video

With Street Fighter V now in the hands of players across the world, Persona has been busy putting their combo video skills to work in the new game. The last time we saw them, Persona took a look at Karin, and now the focus has been placed on Charlie Nash.

The combos featured here focus more on length and style, using a number of setups and extensions that may not be the most practical option in an actual match. Of course, that doesn’t take away from how impressive these findings are, so don’t hesitate to check out the video below.

Tarkatan Alien Pays Homage to Baraka in Mortal Kombat X

The Alien is one of the more interesting guest characters in Mortal Kombat X, owing to the fact that one of its variations actually pulls inspiration from a series veteran.

It’s that Baraka-esque Tarkatan fighting style that gets the spotlight in ElChakotay’s latest combo video. Below, he shows off a number of damaging mid-screen combos that can carry the opponent to the corner, as well as tactics to employ once they’re stuck at the edge of the screen.

Arcade Shock Unveils Original Arcade Stick

The folks at Arcade Shock have done a bang up job getting a good number of limited edition arcade sticks and parts to the west, but now they’re ready to take things a step further by releasing their own custom peripheral.

Designed by Marden Blake, the tentatively titled Arcade Shock x Nests R-Type Controller features a body modeled after high end audiophile equipment. While we’re still not sure exactly what that entails, Arcade Shock has confirmed that the form will be “virtually indestructible” and manufactured in Japan by a well-known automobile maker.

Additionally, the stick will feature proprietary arcade parts, with push buttons designed to give six levels of resistance and a lever that has been described as a “next generation” joystick. Arcade Shock also stated that buyers will be able to specify what PCB they want in the arcade stick, allowing it to work with their system of choice.

Further details on the R-Type Controller, as well as the final design, will be revealed in May. In the meantime, check out the concept render below and let us know what you think.

NESiCAxLive Launches at All Round 1 Locations

Taito’s NESiCAxLive service has been something of a boon for arcade operators, as the digital distribution service allows them to easily gain access to a number of titles for their customers without the costs associated with having to purchase and install new arcade boards.

While primarily available in Japan, the NESiCA system made the trip to Southern California last year thanks to Round 1. And now, after a successful few months, the organization has expanded this effort to all of their North American locations.

Further details on which games will be available are still forthcoming, but it’s likely the NESiCA cabinets in question will be restricted to Ultra Street Fighter IV and BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND, similar to their initial showing in Southern California. Whether or not the rest of the lineup, which runs the gamut from classics such as Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and King of Fighters 2002 to lesser known modern titles like Aquapazza and Nitroplus Blasterz, will ever appear remains to be seen.

For a full list of Round 1 locations, be sure to visit their official website.
