Get to Know Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-‘s Kum Haehyun

One of the more interesting additions to the cast of Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- is Kum Haehyun, as this seemingly muscular brute is actually a robot suit piloted by a girl.

To help players familiarize themselves with the character, Arc System Works recently released an introductory video that sees battle planner Pachi explain what makes Haehyun unique, such as the fact that she uses links instead of gatling chains, her controllable Choudengan projectile which can be controlled with the joystick, and more.

While Pachi’s narration itself is in Japanese, greatfernman has provided a translation that you can read here if the visuals aren’t enough.

53 Moves You Should Be Punishing in Street Fighter V

As is the case with any new game, it’s likely that more than a few Street Fighter V players are letting punish opportunities slip by. In face, this lack of familiarity means some simply don’t know how to deal with the offense their opponents are dishing out.

To help educate players, SFGod shared a new video that shows a number of moves (53, to be exact) that may seem safe, but are actually punishable. These include poorly ranged run-ins from Ken, light punch Tragedy Assaults from Nash, Dhalsim’s instant air teleports, and more.

Take note that, while the video below uses Rashid as an example, every character should be able to punish these in their own way.

Easily Research Street Fighter V’s Hitboxes with These Visual Guides

While players have more than a few options to check out Street Fighter V’s hitboxes in action, most center on the PC version due to the ability to modify the game on that platform. As such, folks who stick with PlayStation 4 are at a bit of a disadvantage.

To help address this, a helpful member of the community named eiSH has created a set of visual guides for every Street Fighter V character, each showing the hit and hurtboxes for the active frames of each cast member’s normal and special moves.

Each graphic is available in a high-resolution JPEG format, which means that players can save them for storage or printing. We’ve included a small example, but be sure to visit DeviantArt for more.

Ryu Succumbs to the Satsui no Hadou in Fan-Made Street Fighter V Story

Street Fighter V’s cinematic story expansion is still a few months away, which means the few glimpses we have ofthe game’s narrative consist of short vignettes that only serve to hint at what we’ll get in June.

Not satisfied with what the game has available so far, sigmaG19 put together their own story, using in-game footage, clever editing, and move-swapping. Titled “Satsui no Hadou,” the video attempts to piece together the possible relation between Evil Ryu and newcomer Necalli’s awakening.

Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments.

Get the Most Out of Tarkatan Alien’s Combos in Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat X’s Tarkatan Alien is a unique and interesting variation in that it actually borrows moves from classic franchise character Baraka. This means that fans disappointed at the latter not being playable in the game have a somewhat reasonable substitute.

For those players, Critical Reaction’s HoneyBee recently put out a fantastic combo guide for this hybrid fighter. In the video below, he not only demonstrates combos, but also gives tips on useful situations, reasons to change things up, and more.

Mad Catz Releases XInput Drivers for Street Fighter V Products

One ironic issue with Mad Catz’ latest crop of Street Fighter branded products is that a few don’t work with Street Fighter V on PC. This is due to the lack of support for DirectInput controllers, such as those developed for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

To address this problem ahead of an official Street Fighter V patch, the manufacturers have released a new set of drivers for the Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition 2+, Tournament Edition S+, and FightPad PRO. These will identify the controllers as XInput devices, making them compatible with Street Fighter V on PC.

As for older models, Mad Catz is expected to provide an update on that matter sometime in the future.

Capcom Drops Early Gameplay Details for Street Fighter V’s Alex

After weeks of waiting, Capcom has finally released initial details on Street Fighter V’s first post-launch character, Alex. Fans have long anticipated the return of the Street Fighter III lead has been absent from fighting games since his appearance in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom so his return can’t come too soon.

As was previously mentioned, Alex’s changes in Street Fighter V have to do with amplifying his background as a grappler, so his tools are designed to help him get in and do massive damage.

Alex’s V-Skill, called Overhaul, turns Alex’s next attack into a “hard hit” with a bit of quick stretching. This means that the next hit will grant the attack all the bonuses of a counter hit, including increased hit stun. Whiffs will waste the hard hit bonus, so players will need to strategically plan their next attack.

Rage Shift, on the other hand, is a clothesline V-Trigger that Alex can charge. While charging, the move will parry any attack sent Alex’s way, and a full charge will break the opponent’s guard.

And finally, Alex’s Critical Art, Heavy Hammer, sees the returning fighter knock his opponent down with a thunderous chop before putting them into a painful looking crucifix hold.

The update that adds Alex to the game will also include bug fixes and balance changes. These mainly focus on things like Vega’s hilarious flight glitch and corrections to a few of the option selects players have found since Street Fighter V’s release

Upcoming Street Fighter V Changes

Vega

  •  If you hit V-Trigger Bloody Kiss (anti-air) in certain situations, Vega will no longer continue to rise off the top of the screen.

M. Bison

  •  If M. Bison is interrupted by an opponent’s V-Trigger or Critical Art during his invisible frames of Double Knee Press in V-Trigger mode, M. Bison will no longer remain invisible until his next move.

Rashid

  • Rashid will no longer float in the air for a moment if you perform his V-Trigger after he touches the ground upon a missed Eagle Spike.

Chun-Li

  • During V-Trigger activation, the hit stop and block stop has been made the same for multi-hitting moves (medium or heavy attacks for both normal and special moves).
    • She was previously able to perform option selects involving standing HP into Houyokusen, so this has been removed.

General Changes

Vertical and Back Jump Frames

  • All characters except Birdie and Zangief: Vertical jump and back jump frames have changed from 3f->4f.
  • Birdie: Vertical jump and back jump frames have changed from 4f->5f.
  • Zangief: No changes to jump frames.
    • These changes reduce the effectiveness of throw tech option selects involving jumping (also known as “jump grab”). Changing forward jump frames would affect the game balance too much so those remain unchanged.

Throw Escape Change

  • If you push buttons during the normal throw delayed tech window you are unable to escape throws for 2 frames.
    • Prevents using light attacks to option select with throw escapes.
  • If you execute specific special moves during the normal throw delayed tech window you are unable to immediately escape throws. Each characters V-skills, V-triggers, V-reversals, critical arts, and moves have been set individually.
    • Prevents throw escape option selects involving specific moves such as Shoryuken, etc.

Alex, the aforementioned fixes, additional modes, the in-game shop, upgraded lobbies, and an online rematch option will be added to Street Fighter V when the update goes live later this month.

Daigo Umehara Unleashes the Beast in Online Street Fighter V Matches

Mad Catz’ Daigo Umehara has been a dominant force in every Street Fighter he’s touched, and it looks like Street Fighter V will be no exception. Despite a surprising loss to Lupe Fiasco during a recent exhibition, Daigo has been actively playing the game and securing a place for himself among the upper ranks of players online.

For those wishing to see more of the Beast letting loose in Street Fighter V, XusesGB has compiled an hour’s worth of match footage highlighting Daigo’s various online challengers. The footage should be of special interest both to Ryu players and those having trouble in the matchup, as Daigo showcases some excellent play with the character he’s most associated with in Street Fighter.
