Get the Most Out of I-No’s Instant Overhead in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-

Learning to to execute and apply instant overheads are an important part of I-No’s game in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, as the sultry witch gets a good chuck of her offense from applying them in mixup situations after a knockdown.

As such, Mynusdono recently put together a series of quick tutorial videos showing how to properly utilize this facet of I-No’s gameplay. Each one is dedicated to a single concept, starting from a demonstration of how the instant overhead works before moving on to how to convert the instant overhead into damage from different screen positions and meter costs.

If this sounds like something you need to brush up on, check out the full playlist below.

Best of III Talks to Hold Back to Block’s Esteban Martinez, Chris G

The Daily Dot is back with yet another edition of Best of III. This time, they talk to a couple of very interesting guests, the first of which is someone who has spent the past few years taking a close look at the fighting game community: Hold Back to Block’s Esteban Martinez, the brains behind the the documentary FGC: Rise of the Fighting Game Community.

Some of the topics they touch on include reactions to the documentary as well as how he handled some of the more negative aspects of the community. Additionally, they also spend some time talking to Martinez about how “eSports” has influenced competitive fighting games, based on what he saw while making the film.

Their second guest was Tempo Storm’s Christopher “Chris G” Gonzalez. Kumite in Tennessee was something of a comeback tournament for the Marvel legend, and they talk to him a bit regarding how he has focused on his game instead of living on social media.

Street Fighter V’s Latest Beta Changes Have Been Datamined

As expected from a game in beta, Street Fighter V has received a number of balance changes each time it was made playable. Now, with a final beta phase coming this weekend, many players are likely wondering how the game has changed since the last beta phase in December.

Luckily for us, Shoryuken regular Eternal, who many may recognize as helping run our wiki, has been able to datamine adjustments made in the latest beta patch. While these updates were pushed for the recent “tech test“, they also include changes for characters who weren’t playable in that test, indicating that they may also be for this weekend’s beta.

As for the changes themselves, they mostly represent fine tuning of the game’s cast, with changes to frame data, hitboxes, and damage. However, there are some pretty interesting trends, such as an overall damage and stun buff to throws as well as lots of damage buffs all around.

Those interested can check out Eternal’s forum post for the list of discovered changes. Take note, however, that all of these changes have yet to be confirmed.

Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- on PC Receives Third-Party Hitbox Display Program

If there’s one feature that most fighting games tend to lack, it’s the ability to display hitboxes in training mode. While some have begun to implement these tools, it’s not something you tend to see on a regular basis.

That said, having these games released on PC has allowed modders to developer hitbox viewers of their own, the most recent of which arrived this weekend for Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-.

Developed by Altimor, the viewer is less of a mod and more of a separate program that runs alongside the game, injecting code to make the hitboxes viewable. This means that the Guilty Gear itself isn’t touched and runs normally both online and off.

Those interested in trying this out can grab the viewer over at Dustloop, and examples of the program in action have been compiled on Hardedge. Take not that there are a few lingering issues, such as projectiles not having visible hitboxes, but it’s likely we’ll see updates in the future.

Capcom Drops Details on Street Fighter V’s Story Mode, Final Beta

While we’ve come to know a fair bit about Street Fighter V thanks to the beta phases, one thing we haven’t heard much about is the game’s story.

In a recent post on Capcom-Unity, associate producer Peter “Combofiend” Rosas explains that there are two main components to Street Fighter V’s story mode. First, each character will have their own storyline that will be told with the help of illustrations by none other than famed Capcom artist Bengus.

You can catch a brief glimpse of this story in the trailer and screenshots below.
