Bafael Explains How to Quickly Adapt to Street Fighter V

Moving from one Street Fighter game to another is always a challenge. Each installment brings with it new mechanics and properties while dumping some old ones from the previous titles. Such is the case with Street Fighter V as the game looks to distance itself from Street Fighter IV.

Bafael recently put out a short video that details some of the practical gameplay adjustments that players coming into Street Fighter V from its predecessor should make. If you’re having a hard time transitioning, this may be just what you need to get yourself ready for extended beta sessions.

Izumojin Returns with a New X-Men: Children of the Atom Combo Video

For those familiar with the combo video scene, Izumojin is one of the most well known and respected creators out there. This wizard is responsible some of the best combo videos around, including a few that we’ve featured on Shoryuken’s front page.

Now, after a nearly year-long hiatus, Izumojin is back with yet another combo video, this time around focusing on X-Men: Children of the Atom. This game represents the genesis of the Vs. series and arguably all high-flying combo heavy fighting games. Owing to this fact, its engine is quite open, if a bit unrefined, allowing for some really impressive combos, such as the ones Izumojin compiled below.

Street Fighter V’s Ken Sets the Beta Ablaze

While Street Fighter V’s second beta has only been up for a day, that hasn’t stopped people from going in and figuring out some interesting looking combos for the playable cast, most notably Ken Masters and his arsenal of flaming attacks.

First up, we have some day one combos from LiangHuBBB. These cover basic juggles using his V-Trigger and his fierce Shoryuken.

Meanwhile, DaFeetLee focused on bread and butter combos for the returning fighter. That said, they also show some combos Ken can get out of Crush Counter, so take note.

Speaking of Crush Counter, flighflighflugit’s shared a couple of extended combos that Ken can get off one.

Cjbqulix, on the other hand, goes for straight up flashiness with their Ken combos, using V-Trigger cancels and aerial EX Tatsumakis to set up juggles.

XusesGB has also thrown their hat into the Ken combo video ring. Their video covers both basic and advanced combos with the veteran world warrior.

Of course, Ken isn’t the only character people are pumping out content for. We have some combos videos for R. Mika as well, the first set of which comes from BigCheese, including a combo that does a whopping 80% stun.

ArtificialStar concentrates on utilizing R. Mika’s V-Trigger, extending her combos with the Nadeshiko assist to tack on some extra damage.

Hurtbox TV continues their series of Street Fighter V combo videos with a demonstration focused on newcomer Necalli. Below, they showcase their impressive findings, including some combos that utilize a V-Trigger cancel to have him transform mid-combo.

Getting back to Ken for a bit, Hurtbox TV also covers Mr. Masters, again showing some of his extended V-Trigger cancels.

Last, but definitely not least, pepopulo shows a few of the amazing things Ken is currently capable of in the beta. These include linking multiple EX fireballs in the corner, using two EX hurricane kicks in a juggle, and even a full corner to corner carry combo.

Okay, we lied about that being the last one. This final video, however, isn’t a combo video. Rather, it shows a funny moment where ElChakotay was able to knock out their opponent by throwing R. Mika’s microphone at them.

Find some sick stuff of your own so far in the beta? Be sure to drop us a line and your video could end up in our next Street Fighter V beta roundup!

Street Fighter V Beta Preload Now Available on PC

Although it went live a little sooner than was expected, the official launch of Street Fighter V’s second beta phase is almost upon us. One of the biggest details this time around is that players on PC will be able to join in on the fun, starting at 9 AM PDT on October 23.

If you count yourself among those excited to try the game on PC, do yourself a favor and boot up Steam. Capcom recently announced that the beta client will be available for preload starting…oh, right about now.

Those who have pre-purchased Street Fighter V should have seen the title appear in their library around 10 AM PDT, giving them the ability to get the download over with and jump into the beta as soon as it goes live on PC. Like many things, that time was an estimate, so give it a little bit if the client has yet to show up.

Street Fighter V is set to launch for PlayStation 4 and PC sometime next spring. The second beta will be live today around 6 PM PDT; the full schedule can be found here.

Get Better Acquainted with Laura’s Electrifying Moveset in Street Fighter V

While we’ve seen a decent amount of footage of Laura in action, some folks may still be a bit confused about what this Street Fighter V newcomer brings to the table. With strikes that lead into throws and a V-Skill that changes into a command run, her moveset may not be the easiest to wrap one’s head around.

To address this, AXETB put together a short video that breaks down everything Laura has at her disposal. Using footage from a recent WinnerStaysOn session, they have painstakingly compiled slow motion footage of her moves, right down to her normal attacks.

All of you technicians out there will be happy to know that the demonstration below also goes over some early combos found by the WinnerStaysOn crew, with the same slow motion treatment given to Laura’s individual attacks.

Please note that all notation is written from the first player’s side, and that everything shown here is liable to change between now and Street Fighter V’s release next year.

Safely Fish for Evil Ryu’s Shoryuken with This Ultra Street Fighter IV Option Select

Two things that some would say define high level Ultra Street Fighter IV play are the usage of option selects as well as focus attack dash cancels. While useful on their own, these two will occasionally come together to form something quite dangerous in the right hands.

In this latest video, Rush & Kill Clan’s Mastik demonstrates how Evil Ryu can employ an option select that uses a focus attack dash canceled light Shoryuken to try to land his Metsu Hadouken ultra or safely back dash out if the attempt is blocked.

The option select works by following a light Shoryuken with a buffered half-circle backwards motion ending with a focus attack input after a slight delay and then closing out with a backdash. If the initial Shoryuken is blocked, then the succeeding motion inputs are ignored and the only thing that comes out is the FADC backdash. And when it connects, you can follow it up with his ultra.

Crossup El Fuerte’s Shower Kick with Balrog’s EX Dash Upper in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Strange, unexpected interactions are some of the most interesting things in fighting games, even in Ultra Street Fighter IV. These allow players to pull off things that that they normally wouldn’t be able to.

In his latest video, Sebastian Rikk demonstrates a strange interaction between El Fuerte’s Shower Kick and Balrog’s EX Dash Upper. When timed just right, the latter will not only go through the overhead, but it will also hit, allowing Balrog to convert the move into a combo.

Check out the video below and see if you can learn to apply this to your game.
