Kurumi Mirumati Returns to Vanguard Princess on Steam

When eigoMANGA ported Tomoaki Sugeno’s indie fighter Vanguard Princess to Steam last year, some fans noted that while the game gained a new playable character in the form of Hilda Rize, it did so at the cost of another, Kurumi Mirumati. Now, eigoMANGA is bringing Kurumi back as downloadable content.

A plane crash survivor without any memory of her past, the cheerful teenager Kurumi brings a unique twist to the game by having only one offensive special move. She makes up for this deficiency with an assist meter that fills up faster than normal as well as sporting attacks that change depending on her selected assist. Combine this with her fast normals and command roll, and you’ve got an interesting, assist-based, mixup character that stands apart from the rest of the cast.

In addition to Kurumi, this package also adds Team and Streak modes. The former sees players face off against a team of two opponents, while the latter puts them through a series of uninterrupted one-on-one battles until they defeat the entire series or get knocked out.

Kurumi is currently available for $3.99. Vanguard Princess itself can be purchased on Steam for $4.99.

Any Street Fighter fan who grew up with the series as part of their childhood has most likely, at one time or another, wished that they could actually bust out a Hadouken like Ryu and Ken. Well now they can, and safely from the comfort of their own bedroom to boot.

Tekken Prodigy Alexandre “AK” Lavarez Invited to Tekken 7 World Championship

With the date for The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015 looming ever closer, Tekken fans from all over the world are waiting to see who will make it to the final tournament lineup. Now, thanks to a recent announcement on the tournament’s site, we know of one more player who will be participating: Alexandre “AK” Lavarez.

The teen Tekken prodigy has been invited on the merit of his performance in last year’s anniversary tournament. AK will be joining qualified players such as Nobi, AO, Mr. Naps, and more.

The same post also gave updated details on the tournament’s qualifying spots for the tournament. You can check these out below.

  • 11 qualifying players from Japan – 2 of which from the female division. (Yurisan no Hou, Maxi)
  • 8 qualifying players from Korea
  • 2 qualifying players from Evo 2015 – Nobi, AO.
  • 2 qualifying players from North America – West Coast (Mr. Naps), East Coast (Oct. 18)
  • 3 qualifying players from Europe – Paris Games Week (Oct. 29)
  • Tekken’s 20th Anniversary Event performer – AK from the Philippines.

The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015 will take place on December 12.

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round Cast Goes Trick or Treating in New Halloween Costumes

Back in May, Team NINJA held a contest that gave Dead or Alive 5 Last Round fans to design Halloween-themed costumes for the game. Now, with All Hallows Eve just around the corner, the developers have dropped a brand new trailer highlighting the winning outfits.

These costumes will be available for purchase in Japan for ¥191 (~$1.59 USD) each for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and ¥200 (~$1.67 USD) for Xbox One. Meanwhile, the complete bundle will go for ¥2,667 (~$22.26 USD) and ¥3,000 (~$25.04 USD), respectively. Prices for the rest of the world have yet to be announced.

On a related note, Team NINJA have noted that this will be the last costume pack for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, following up on previous statements that downloadable content would eventually bypass older consoles due to hardware limitations.

Help YUBIKEN Send KichijojiKEN and Super Santarou Man to Street Grand Battle in France

YUBIKEN has been one of the biggest contributors to the Ultra Street Fighter IV scene as of late. Not only do they produce great videos and regular streams, but they’ve also sent a good number of players abroad to compete.

Now, the Japanese organization wants to fly one of its best players, KichijojiKEN, to the upcoming Street Grand Battle in Lyon, France. Not only does Kichiken want to compete, but he also believes that, if an exhibition match were ever organized between them, he would handily beat Evo 2014 champion Luffy.

Unfortunately, the funds just aren’t there. As such, YUBIKEN is turning to the community for help, and is looking to raise €2,000 for the trip.

If the campaign’s goals are reached, not only will Kichiken fly to France, but YUBIKEN’s “Luffy killer” Super Santarou Man will also tag along in order to give Luffy a chance at a runback after his loss during their exhibition at Evo. However, to earn the chance for the rematch, Luffy must defeat Kichiken first.

But all of this will only happen if YUBIKEN reaches their funding goal. If you feel like helping, you’ll find all the details you need on the campaign page. They sit at €300 at the time of publishing.

Street Fighter V’s Laura Shines in This Early Gameplay Footage

After being inadvertently leaked twice, Street Fighter V’s Laura Matsuda has now officially been revealed to the world.  The older sister of Street Fighter III’s Sean shocks and awes her opponents with a combination of quick grapples and electric attacks. Fans attending Brazil Game Show and New York Comic Con have taken the time to record some off screen footage of the Matsuda heir.

First up, we have a video from Gabriel Simonetti. In his video, Gabriel goes over Laura’s moveset, doing his best to demonstrate them for the camera.

Buttons and specials in a vacuum only mean so much, so next up, we have a couple of videos showing Laura bringing the pain against opponents in actual matches. The first video, by Shack 462, features Laura going up against another heir, the Kanzuki-ryu’s Karin.

In this second bit of match footage, from SClawww, Laura takes on the strongest woman in the world, Chun-Li.

Match footage and move breakdowns are great to see this early on, but if you fancy yourself a Street Fighter fashion aficionado, you’d probably love to see Laura’s second player costume color in action. This video shows exactly that in a lengthy over-the-shoulder shot.

Do note that this is the first time these players are trying her out, so the level of gameplay is still quite rough around the edges.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Possibly Hitting Arcades in November

Square Enix and Team NINJA are currently working on bringing an updated version of the Dissidia Final Fantasy fighting series to Japanese arcades. So far, the game has been undergoing location testing at various game centers around Japan, and it seems as if it’s almost ready for release.

A notice spotted at the Playland King Nanajo game center in Kyoto indicates that the game is set to launch sometime this November.

Dissidia Final Fantasy is a 3D arena fighter featuring characters from various games in the Final Fantasy franchise. The arcade version mixes things up by focusing on team battles, with players controlling a a group of three characters. Check out our previous coverage for more information on its system and characters, and stay tuned for more details about this upcoming release.

Snake Eyez Grapples with -R- and Super Santarou Man in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Some time back, we showcased a couple of matches of Red Bull’s Darryl “Snake Eyez” Lewis taking on YUBIKEN’s Dashio and Hagejin when he visited their team headquarters in Japan. Luckily for all of you Zangief fans out there, those weren’t the only sets that the visiting American played. In these new videos, Snake Eyez takes on two more of the organization’s best and brightest.

For the first match, Russian wrestling takes on American boxing as Snake Eyez faces YUBIKEN’s resident Balrog, -R-. This competitor gives Snake Eyez quite a fight at first, resulting in a couple of clutch wins. However, he is able to quickly adapt and use footsies to get in and take control of the matches.

Next up, Snake Eyez is paired with Super Santarou Man. As one of the best Sagat players in the world, he’s obviously able to give Zangief quite a difficult matchup. Even when Snake Eyez gets the lead, it still feels as if Santarou is in control, as his zoning and poking game can quickly turn the match back into his favor. This forces Snake Eyez to dig deep and take a couple of hard reads to punish Sagat with Zangief’s Ultra 2 in the closing rounds of this match.

Ono: An Arcade Version of Street Fighter V is Not Impossible

When Street Fighter V launches sometime next year, it will be the first numbered Street Fighter sequel to head straight to consoles without a prior arcade release. The relatively smaller size of the arcade market compared to consoles and the fact that Sony is backing the title have both likely contributed to the upcoming game’s break with tradition.

But that doesn’t mean an arcade version won’t ever happen. In an interview with Mexican game outlet Level Up at Electronic Game Show, series producer Yoshinori Ono stated that an arcade version of the game is not impossible.

That said, the team is currently focused on the home version and the worldwide community on PlayStation 4 and PC. Ono states that hopes for an arcade version are not dead, and that Street Fighter V may eventually hit Japanese game centers sometime in the future.

Familiarize Yourself with Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX’s Various Assist Characters

For any players getting into the recently released Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX, one of the new mechanics they might have trouble wrapping their heads around are the assist characters. While the game itself is a one-on-one fighter, it also allows the selection of an supporter that can be called upon for help.

To provide a look at what all the game’s assists are capable of, Fatal Seabass recently shared a new video that breaks down their unique skills. Each support character has multiple attacks depending on which direction the player holds when calling them, and learning what they do and when to utilize them obviously forms an important part of FIGHTING CLIMAX’s gameplay.
