Street Fighter V Beta Test Going Down for Extended Maintenance

It’s been a rough start for Street Fighter V’s first beta test on PlayStation 4. After players reported issues trying to get into the game, Capcom extended the nightly planned maintenance downtime to try to address issues that were keeping players from logging into the server.

However, after going back up sometime early this morning, the login issues have still been persistent. In light of this, Capcom will now be taking down the servers again for another period of extended maintenance to get to the root of the problem.

No timeline has as of yet been given for how long this extended maintenance period will take.

While issues like this are par for the course for online beta tests, Capcom are aware that many of their fans have been quite disappointed with these issues. Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono has offered his apologies for these developments while promising that the beta will be rescheduled.

As has been previously reported, Capcom plans to extend the beta period for an unspecified amount of time.

Shining Series Fighter Blade Arcus Coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4

Blade Arcus from Shining, Sega’s 2D fighting game based on their Shining roleplaying series, has so far been playable only in Japanese arcades. That’s going to change soon, however; according to this week’s Famitsu, the game will be getting a home console port soon.

The title is set to release on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 as Blade Arcus From Shining EX. What this name change means is as of yet unknown.

Blade Arcus features characters from recent Shining series games such as Shining Hearts and Shining Blade, as well as a couple of original characters developed for the spin-off. It recently received an update to ver.2.0 that added even more characters.

Learn What Nash, M. Bison, and Cammy Bring to Street Fighter V’s Beta

Street Fighter V’s first online beta test on PlayStation 4 is almost upon us. To help players get ready for it, Vesper Arcade has started a series of videos breaking down the game based on the playable builds demonstrated at recent events such as the E3, San Diego Comic-Con, and Evolution.

Vesper’s already released the first video in the series, covering the game’s system, last week. This time, his latest covers some of the characters that you’ll be able to use in Street Fighter V.

First up is the dictator himself, M. Bison. Bison plays quite differently from his Street Fighter IV incarnation with a bunch of new moves. In addition to this, his V-Trigger gives a great boost to his mobility by tapping into the Psycho Power.

Now if you think Bison is different, wait until you see Charlie Nash. As some folks may already know, Nash is no longer the Guile-like charge character of the Alpha games, instead using motion versions of his traditional specials, as well as some new ones. He also has one of the more unique V-Triggers in the game, which gives him a tricky teleport instead of the timed install of the other characters.

On the other end of the scale we have Cammy who, on the surface, doesn’t seem to have been changed much at all. However, the adjustments to her normals and specials do mean that she plays quite differently from her Street Fighter IV incarnation – relying more on footsies and ground game than on going into the air and going for cross ups.

Street Fighter V’s first beta on PlayStation 4 begins at 6 PM PDT today. The beta will initially launch with four characters–Ryu, Chun-Li, Nash, and M. Bison–with Cammy and Birdie being added later on to test the game’s new digital content delivery system.

Get Hype for Nitroplus Blasterz’ Console Release with This New Trailer

As some of you may already know, EXAMU and Nitroplus’ new crossover fighter, Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel, will be getting a console release on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 this winter. To help drive the point home, publisher Marvelous Entertainment has released the following trailer.

The video in question showcases the game’s cast, including its three console-exclusive characters Super Sonico, Homura from Senran Kagura, and Aino Heart from Arcana Heart.

Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel will be released on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan on December 10. It will also be coming to the west, via XSEED Games, sometime later this winter.

Catch a Glimpse of BlazBlue: Central Fiction in This First Batch of Location Test Footage

While most of the fighting game community was squarely focused on Evolution 2015 this past weekend, BlazBlue players in Japan were focused on something else – the first location test for BlazBlue: Central Fiction.

These location tests represented the first time that players were able to get their hands on the new game. In addition to this, the location test was also streamed via Niconico Live.

For those of us who missed out, AbelcruEX was able to capture some match footage from the test’s live broadcast, which you’ll find below. In addition to returning characters like Tager, Ragna, and Hakumen, the videos also provide us with a closer look at newcomers Hibiki and Naoto.

New Character Necalli Joins the Cast of Street Fighter V

One of the things fans look to the most with a new Street Fighter installment, is the return of characters who may not have made it into the previous installment of the game. With the in mind, Capcom surely didn’t disappoint with their latest announcement for Street Fighter V at Evo 2015.

Necalli will be the first of four new characters that will be joining the game’s initial cast of 16 characters. The dreadlocked wildman was first teased at the end of the Ken trailer. His Evo2015 debut shows of some sick moves including some claw slashes and a divekick, while activating his V-Trigger makes his already wild hair look even wilder, while providing him with some as of yet unknown buffs.

We’ve got a blurry capture of the wildman from the stream here. We’ll be sure to update with more media and details as they become available.

Street Fighter V is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC in spring of 2016. Meanwhile it’s first beta on PlayStation 4 will start this Thursday, July 23.

Olympic Gaming Showcases SH RASEC’s Zangief and Tommy Gunz’ Hakan in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Olympic Gaming is back with another set of Ultra Street Fighter IV player spotlights. This time, they focus on two grappler specialists: SH Rasec and Tommy Gunz.

SH Rasic focuses on Street Fighter’s original big grappler, Zangief. His spotlight video showcases him using the big Russian against players such as TS|Sabin and PIE|Smug.

Tommy Gunz, on the other hand, uses Street Fighter IV’s goofy Turkish oil wrestler Hakan. His video features him in action against players like Alex Myers, ActionJackRyu, and more.

Arcana Heart’s Heart Aino Joining Nitroplus Blasterz on Consoles

Examu and Nitroplus’ new fighting game, Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel, will be coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan on December 10. When it does, it will have one additional character that wasn’t in the original arcade version.

Heart Ino, who hails from Examu’s Arcana Heart series, will be joining the cast of Nitroplus Blasterz as a downloadable character. Much like Senran Kagura’s Homura, she will be available via a download code packaged with first print copies of the game.

Additionally, Nitroplus Blasterz will have a special limited edition box that includes 3D crystal art, an original soundtrack CD, an art book, and a swimsuit product code. Meanwhile, pre-orders will come with “Marvelous Colors” for every character, and a wallpaper for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, and smartphones.

Persona Takes a Second Look at EX Iori in King of Fighters XIII

Combo video wizard Persona has recently been going through his old King of Fighters XIII combo videos and updating them. Last time out, he showed us some new tricks for Hwa Jai, now he turns his sights onto the EX version of Iori Yagami.

Unlike his Hwa Jai video, this new one has discarded all the combos from his previous EX Iori combo video. The result is a series of even more impressive combos for the wielder of the purple flame using tricks like empty canceling his rekkas and even busting out an infinite combo that can lead into stun.
