Get Ready for Street Fighter V’s Upcoming Beta with Vesper Arcade’s System Guide

Street Fighter V’s first beta test on PlayStation 4 is coming in less than two weeks. To help players get up to speed, Vesper Arcade has put together this system guide that breaks down the game’s systems so those who are in the beta spend less time trying to figure them out.

The video below focuses on the general game system, including the new V-Gauge and the options tied into it, such as V-Skills, V-Reversals, and V-Trigger. It also goes over other small changes, such as the removal of Street Fighter IV’s crouch tech option select and strike-invulnerability on backdashes, as well as how okizeme and ukemi now work.

Take note, however, that there are some things that he does get wrong. Specifically, he mentions that throw ranges in Street Fighter V are shorter, even though Capcom’s Peter “Combofiend” Rosas has confirmed that they are the same as its predecessor, as well as attributing Crush Counters as coming from other games, even though Street Fighter Alpha 3 already has a similar counter-hit mechanic.

That said, this is still a pretty solid guide, and anyone who’s pre-ordered the game to try out the beta should give it a go.

Sebastian Rikk Demonstrates Chadha’s Capabilities in Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm

Grappler fans trying out Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm will most likely be drawn to Chadha. This mysterious monster has a plethora of command grabs that should keep anyone getting close to him on edge.

That said, Chadha can also do a fair amount of combos, as this video from Sebastian Rikk will demonstrate. While the combos here may not be the most damaging in his arsenal, a good number lead to useful reset situations. Additionally, the really damaging ones come from anti-air situations, which should keep players from trying to jump in on him.

hit_box_xbox_one_622x320

Initially developed to help players who learned to play on keyboards transition to tournament play on consoles, the Hit Box has proved to be quite versatile, allowing for more accurate inputs than some traditional controllers. That said, anyone who wanted to use one of these unique peripherals on Xbox One was out of luck…until now.

Hit Box just announced that pre-orders for the Xbox One version of their popular controller are now open. As with the older model, they use a black, powder-coated, metal casing with Sanwa buttons. These sticks will run players $199.99, slightly less than their multi-console PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version.

Hit Box plans to start shipping Xbox One controllers in August.

Zeveron Signs Ryota “Kazunoko” Inoue

As fighters continues to grow as a competitive gaming genre, more and more professional teams are picking up notable players for their rosters. The latest team to do so is relative newcomer Zeveron, who recently announced that they have signed Ryota Inoue, better known as Kazunoko.

Kazunoko represents the team’s first fighting game player. Prior to this, the team was focused mostly on Blizzard’s MOBA, Heroes of the Storm.

Prior to the announcement, Zeveron had made several posts over social media teasing the fact that they would be signing a fighting game player and sending them to Evolution 2015.

According to details provided by Zeveron CEO Jeff Suddarth, Kazunoko has been signed to a year-long contract that includes a regular salary and travel, indicating that they are planning to keep the Japanese powerhouse around for some time instead of trying to cash in on quick exposure.

Mad Catz Releasing Chun-Li Tournament Edition 2 Arcade Stick This Fall

MadCatz_Chun_Li_TE2_622x320

Hot on the heels of their “Rivals” arcade stick, Mad Catz has announced yet another variant of the Tournament Edition 2 that pays homage to one of the classic limited edition variants of the original model.

In a recent post, Mad Catz community manager and arcade stick aficionado Mark “MarkMan” Julio revealed that a new Chun-Li themed Tournament Edition 2 will be coming later this fall. This variant is a nod to their previous effort from 2010 with new art based on Street Fighter V.

As with that stick, this updated model features a blue casing with white accents, though it seems to have lost the translucency of its predecessor. It will be be compatible with both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, the latter being the only console that Street Fighter V will be coming to this generation.

The cost of this new variant has yet to be detailed, though we expect it to retail around the same $199.99 price point as the currently available Tournament Edition 2 sticks.

Listen to Ken’s Rocking Street Fighter V Theme

sfv-ken-intro-622-crop

Alongside the recent reveal that Ken would return in Street Fighter V, Capcom’s Street Fighter team has posted a new update to their Saikyo Blog. While the blog mostly shares the same details that we’ve previously reported, it does have something extra that was not seen–or, more precisely, heard–in our original coverage: a sample of the Street Fighter V remix of Ken’s theme.

Yes, Ken’s classic Street Fighter II theme is back in a new mix that eschew the Street Fighter IV’s EDM-inspired stylings for a more guitar driven mix that feels closer to Yoko Shimomura’s original. This theme is so rockin’ that it made me want to grab a friend and start doing chin-ups.

Of course, this isn’t the only piece of new music that you can listen to; the blog post also contains samples of Ryu, Nash, and M. Bison’s themes, as well as that of the recently revealed Forgotten Waterfall stage.

We’ve included Ken’s theme below, but be sure to head on over to the Saikyo Blog to give the rest a spin.

CorkyJay Demonstrates Incoming Mixups and Guard Breaks for Vergil in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Vergil is one character that seems to have all sorts of ways to open people up in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.  But for those who still think that he needs more, Flying High’s latest video is just the thing for you.

In the video below, Flying High teams up with CorkyJay to demonstrate some advanced incoming mixups and guard breaks for the other son of Sparda. A lot of the setups here are timing dependent, so you’ll want to practice your execution to avoid being punished. Additionally, getting the spacing wrong can also result in Vergil getting hit by a counter X-Factor activation into air throw.

Give the video below a spin to learn how to do these setups right and continue to dominate with Vergil.

Dezmu Teaches How to Control Space with Mega Man’s Short Hop Buster Shot in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

A game like Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is all about movement. Good characters in the game are those that can use their movement best to either get in or space their opponents out.

One character who has an interesting application of movement is Mega Man, who can use a combination of his short hops and his buster shots, or lemons as some fans call them, to effectively control the space in front of him.

In his latest tutorial, which you can watch below, Dezmu demonstrates how to perform this technique, dubbed “short hop lemons,” using both the Wii U Pro Controller and the GameCube controller. Learning this trick can help Mega Man players effectively shut down any opponents trying to get in on him.
