Everyone has a fighting chance
Some months back, combo wizard Persona released a combo video for King of Fighters XIII’s Hwa Jai. However, he wasn’t satisfied with how it turned out. This has prompted him to revisit the character with a revised version of said video.
In the new project, Persona adds a couple of more combos for the hard-drinking Muay Thai fighter that push the character to what he believes is as good as he can get. Check it out below.

As we previously reported, Team NINJA will be hosting their major Dead or Alive Festival exhibition tournament for Dead or Alive 5 Last Round this August in Japan. The developers recently held a vote to allow the community to decide which of the top eight ranked players in the Dead or Alive Battle Royal tour would be sent to compete in the exhibition.
While there were a lot of great choices, Team NINJA and Big E Gaming have announced that Kristian “MC Kwiggle” McLean and Ryane “XCaliburBladeZ” Jimenez will be representing North America at the main event.
MC Kwiggle is the brother of Dominique “Sonic Fox” McLean, but unlike his sibling, he’s focused solely on Dead or Alive, a decision that’s brought him quite a bit of success. He’s currently the top ranked player in the Dead or Alive Battle Royal tour as well the winner of last year’s Road to the Fall Classic. With this in mind, Japanese players looking to challenge the current status quo are sure to be gunning for him.
XCaliburBladeZ, on the other hand, was one of the earliest players to dominate the competitive Dead or Alive 5 scene. He’s brought those victories with him into Last Round, and is a favorite to win any tournament he enters. Though he uses multiple cast members, his main character, Alpha-152, is considered to be one of the weakest in the game by the Japanese, so it’ll be interesting to see how he’ll perform.
With this selection, all that remains is for the European representative to be chosen at Stun Academy 3 later this month.
Dead or Alive Festival takes place on August 1 at the Osaki Bright Core Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

This year’s South East Asia Majors hosted last leg of the Mortal Kombat X Asia Pacific Championships, the finals of which saw four qualifying players face each other for a chance to earn a trip to Evolution 2015. The event also ended up featuring one of the most inspiring stories in competitive fighting games this year.
Timothy Cruz previously won the Philippine qualifier against a stacked field of that country’s best Mortal Kombat competitors, playing in what was his first tournament ever. During the Fatal Four finals, he was out to prove that this win was no fluke. In his way, however, was some tough competition: Singapore’s Rchusan and Australians Sam Baxter and Edison, the latter of which had just won the open qualifier the previous day, denying Thailand of their own representative.
At the end of the day, Cruz was able to show he deserved to be there. Fighting his way past Baxter in the losers bracket, he would eventually come up against Edison. Although the Australian bested Cruz earlier in the tournament, their amazing grand finals set saw him defeat Edison 6-1 and secure a flight to Las Vegas.

One of the hardest things to learn in Mortal Kombat X is defense. The game gives attackers so many tools to work with that many beginning players can easily get overwhelemed just trying to figure out how to get an opponent off them. This exact topic is the subject of the latest episode of Ketchup and Mustard’s “From Casual to Competitive” tutorial series.

Aside from the big tournament games, one of the draws for players attending South East Asia Major 2015 last month was the presence of Tekken 7.
Among those who tried their hand at the game was none other than South East Asia Major 2014’s Tekken Tag Tournament 2 champion BooK (represented by Thaigeruppercut), who played more than his fair share of matches.

Some great news for any players in the United Kingdom who can’t wait to get their hands on Street Fighter V, as Capcom UK have announced a special tour for fans in the region.
This series will bring the game to select community events around Britain, starting with Rushdown Edinburgh on Tuesday, July 7.
Please note that Rushdown Edinburgh, as well as Manchester Battle Arena and Electronic Dojo in Birmingham, will require attendees to sign up to play Street Fighter V. Links to each event’s sign-up page can be found below.
Additionally, the London event at Capcom UK’s own headquarters will likely be limited to only 80 people. More details on this should be released soon.

Prolific Super Smash Bros. content creator Dezmu has been quite busy as of late, sharing a couple of videos demonstrating tricks for the two Capcom guest characters in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
The first of these is a tutorial on how to use Mega Man’s faithful pet dog Rush to set up a kill. Normally, Rush Coil disappears once Mega Man jumps off the spring, but apparently there’s a way to cancel the move to keep summoning the robotic canine as soon as it ends. Using this technique, Mega Man players can set him up so that he can easily knock respawning characters off-stage.
The second video demonstrates a brand new infinite combo for Street Fighter’s Ryu. The infinite is supposedly more practical than the previous one, and allows for a fair bit of damage even though opponents can likely use directional influence to escape. It’s also important to note that this seems to work only on characters in the same weight class as Fox.

As some of you may have known, Street Fighter V was playable at the recently concluded BET Experience. The event, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, saw a number of notable Southern California players try their hands at the new game, including Evil Geniuses’ Justin Wong, Floe, Filipinoman, Chris Tartarian, Marq Teddy, and more.

With how heavily Mortal Kombat X can get changed with each patch, it’s not surprising that players keep developing new combos and setups for the game’s various characters. One such fighter is Kung Lao, whose Hat Trick variation received a few changes that made it easier for him to juggle after some moves while reducing his recovery on others.
In his latest combo video, Elite Tournament Chile’s McFly sets out to explore the new techniques available to this Kung Lao variation after the most recent patch. Give it a spin and see what you can pick up.

One of the key things that any Faust player has to learn in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- is how to Faultless Defense cancel his aerial drill. This technique allows the good doctor to do quite a few things: it cancels his vertical and horizontal momentum in the air, abd at the same time he can also use aerial normals afterwards to either control space or set up an instant overhead.
In this new tutorial, Zissou teaches players not only how to perform this technique, but also various applications for it. This includes the possible combos Faust can get from an instant overhead jump kick based on factors such as whether or not the opponent is standing or crouching, ambiguous crossups, and more.
