While a good number of strong Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 players from the east coast made their way to The Fall Classic 2014, at the end of the day it came down to one competitor’s struggle against another team. Evo 2014 top eight finisher Jan (now of Boost Gaming) found himself sent to the losers bracket by Control Gaming’s Flux, and as a result, he had to fight his way through two other CTRL players, RayRay and Unknown, just to get a chance to face Flux again and hopefully stop his quest for his third tournament win in a row.

Lucina from Fire Emblem is one of the exciting new characters joining the Super Smash Bros. cast in the recent 3DS release. For those who want to learn how to use her, AG|Arc and Origin from Smash and Grab have put up this tutorial video, which covers combos, setups, and kill-moves.

Aside from being a notable competitor in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, BROKENTIER’s Angelic also occasionally dabbles in making combo videos. In his latest project, he showcases some rather flashy and damaging combos for a number of teams.

This video in particular focuses on using all of the characters in the selected teams. Also, since it’s Angelic, all of the teams in the video feature Shuma-Gorath in some capacity. Check the video out below and share your thoughts in the comments.

As with most Arc System Works games, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax’s characters are able to pull off Instant Kill attacks that can immediately end a round when they hit. These attacks are generally difficult to land in competitive play, but they provide quite a show. Minimal Efficiency recently put together a video that showcases all of the Instant Kills for both old and new characters.

While returning characters remain relatively similar to the previous title, they are complemented by instant kills for the newcomers that play on their character traits, such as Junpei and Yukari’s, which reference their respective careers, or Margaret’s, which shares some visual similarities with her sister Elizabeth.

One of Morrigan’s most interesting tools in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is her Soul Drain, a projectile that lets the Darkstalkers alum steal from her opponent’s hyper meter when it hits. This move can be used by smart players to create combos where Morrigan takes two precious resources at once while at the same time regaining her own meter.

Hitomi Morita recently shared some footage demonstrating a couple such combos. These utilize Dante’s Jam Session and Rocket Raccoon’s Log Trap on assist, allowing Morrigan to go into her Astral Vision hyper mid-combo, start a loop with her fireballs, and sneak in more than a few Soul Drains.

The combos shown here do enough damage to kill off some characters but, more importantly, they build meter for Morrigan, giving her the opportunity to finish the combo off with a hyper while totally draining her opponent.

Out of all the guest characters in the new Super Smash Brothers for 3DS and Wii U, Megaman is arguably the one that most players are excited to use.

For those who want to pick up and learn the Blue Bomber competitively, Dezmu from Edmonton Gamers has put together this video demonstrating a a few combos as well as some important concepts players will need. These strategies include a few ways to guard and keep opponents from recovering at the edge of a stage.

With the changes made to the yoga practitioner in Ultra Street Fighter IV’s ver.1.03 patch, Dhalsim lost the ability to do his EX Yoga Fire loop in the corner. In response to this, Javits Arias has gone back to the lab searching for some new cool combos for the character, combos that he’s shared in the following video.

Take note that the strings shown so far are all somewhat impractical, as they require Dhalsim to land a jump in, something that he rarely does in a real match. That said, it’s still interesting to see what he can do post-patch.

With five new characters in rotation, players are busy learning how their respective mains fare against Ultra Street Fighter IV’s fresh faces. As a ton of details can go into learning these matchups, Callisto has taken it upon himself to help his fellow Sakura competitors by putting together a series of videos on the combos she has at her disposal when facing off against these newcomers.
