Two costume bundles are on sale for Street Fighter V on both PlayStation 4 and Steam

For any players who missed out on some of the older costumes released for Street Fighter V, now may be a great time to pick them up. Capcom has a couple of costume packs on sale on both PlayStation 4 and Steam, until May 22.

The discounted bundles are the “2016 Summer Costume Bundle” and the “Original Characters Battle Costume Pack”. The former features swimsuits for season 1 characters Chun-Li, Cammy, Laura, R. Mika, Karin, and Ibuki. It’s currently subject to a 50% discount on both PlayStation 4 and Steam, bringing the price down from $11.99 to $5.99.

The latter features Battle Costumes for the original 16 characters. Some folks may remember some of these as the retailer exclusive pre-order bonus costumes for select characters. For those who missed out on these, the pack is currently subject to a 70% discount on both PlayStation 4 and Steam, bringing the price down from $29.99 to just $8.99.

Anyone interested in picking either bundle up should do so quickly, however, as the sale will last only until May 22!

Vegito (SSGSS) and Zamasu (Fused) clash in Dragon Ball FighterZ on May 31

Witness the next Battle of Gods — to the second power!

The official profiles for both Vegito (SSGSS) and Zamasu (Fused) are now available on the Dragon Ball FighterZ official site. Alongside their profiles and stats, the characters’ pages also give us some more important information — their release date.

Both Vegito (SSGSS) and Zamasu (Fused) are listed as being available for purchase and download on May 31, 2018. Each character will be available individually for ¥500 ($4.99) or included in the game’s FighterZ Pass.

As for the profiles, Vegito is described as a versatile character with a variety of deadly techniques, including his trademark “Final Kamehameha” attack. Zamasu (Fused), on the other hand, is described as a technical fighter who overwhelms his opponent with his unique movement (in reference to his 8-way airdash, among other abilities).

Both characters have similar combat ratings with very high rated traits. Where they differ most is in their ease of use, with Vegito (SSGSS) rated as SS, and Zamasu (Fused) with a B.

Now that their release date has been announced, the true countdown for the next two fighters finally begins!

SNK to reveal more details, and answer questions about the NEOGEO Mini this June

Recently, SNK announced the miniature arcade/console hybrid, the NEOGEO Mini. But there was still a lot more that the company hadn’t revealed about it, until now — it looks like we’ll finally get to know more about the miniature cabinet soon. Next month, to be precise, according to SNK’s announcement via Twitter:

As part of this, they are asking fans to send in any questions about the device that they want answered. Interested parties can do so by replying to the above tweet.

Some of the unanswered questions regarding the NEOGEO Mini include the exact game titles that will be included in it, whether or not it will accept modern arcade sticks (or if it’ll have its own controllers), as well as when the miniature console will actually be released.

Hopefully, these questions will get addressed during this presentation.

Blade Strangers latest trailer focuses on Cave Story+’s Curly Brace

Who doesn’t like robot girls with machine guns?

Nicalis has released yet another character trailer for their upcoming crossover fighter Blade Strangers —This time, the focus is on Curly Brace from Cave Story+.

Now, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Curly Brace in Blade Strangers — she was among the first announced characters in the game. However, this is the first time she’s had a proper trailer focusing just on her.

As the trailer below demonstrates, Curly fights with her machine gun and various projectiles to zone her opponent and set up offense.

With that, there’s only 5 more characters that have yet to receive dedicated trailers: Solange, Ali, Master T, Emiko, and Lina.

Blade Strangers launches on PlayStation 4, PC, and Switch this summer.

ARIKA showcases more Fighting EX Layer gameplay with Cracker Jack, Allen Snyder, Garuda, and more

Hot on the heels of their previous video, ARIKA have released more gameplay footage of Fighting EX Layer. This new video features some matches with characters who weren’t in the previous video — namely Cracker Jack, Allen Snyder, and Garuda — alongside characters who were.

Specifically, the video below showcases Cracker Jack going up against Hokuto; then we have Doctrine Dark fighting Darun Mister; then Garuda takes on Skullomania, before Allen finally takes on Shadowgiest.

Fighting EX Layer arrives on PlayStation 4 this June.

Original character Helen gets the next character trailer for Blade Strangers

“Was this the face that launch‘d a thousand ships…”

Nicalis’s Blade Strangers has, for the most part, been focusing on the many characters from other indie games that are joining its roster. That said, the game also has a few original characters in the mix.

The next original character to receive the spotlight is Helen, who Nicalis showcased in a new trailer. Helen is a goddess, whose design is inspired by greek myths. She comes into battle wielding a sword and shield that she uses for an array of strikes and counters.

Blade Strangers will arrive on PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC this summer.

New Blade Strangers trailer showcases Noko, the time-traveling cop from Sayonara Umihara Kawase

The transforming baton must be standard issue in the future.

Nicalis has dropped a new trailer for Blade Strangers, this time featuring Noko, the time-traveling policewoman from Sayonara Umihara Kawase.

For those not familiar with the franchise, Umihara Kawase is a series of platform games dating back to the mid-1990s. Noko Yokoyama hails from Sayonara Umihara Kawase, the 3rd game from the series, where she’s introduced as a descendant of the main protagonist, Kawase.

Noko joins her ancestor, as well as Emiko, as the third representative from their home series. Here, she fights with a police baton that transforms into an energy gun during certain moves.

Blade Strangers is set to hit PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC later this year.

Nintendo will let E3 attendees reserve tickets to play Super Smash Bros. at their booth

One of the most anticipated reveals at this year’s E3 is Nintendo’s new Super Smash Bros. title for the Switch. We knew we’d see it in action via the Invitational event to be held there –but until now, we didn’t have confirmation that it would be playable on the show floor. But the game will be indeed be available for attendees to try — if you sign up in advance!

To make sure that fans get a chance to play the game — while keeping lines manageable — Nintendo has announced that they will be implementing a ticket reservation system for the new Super Smash Bros. game at E3. With the system, not only will fans be able to reserve a slot to play the game, they’ll also be able to choose between playing casually “for fun”, or joining a competitive elimination match “for glory”.

To reserve a ticket, attendees must register for E3 on or before May 31, 2018. Those who do so will receive an email from the E3 organizers (via the email address e3expo@e3expo.com) on June 5 with details on how to avail of said ticket. The tickets themselves will be in the form of QR codes that can either be printed out or stored on the player’s smartphone.

Sign ups to play the game prior to the event are mandatory — there will be no on site registration whatsoever. Additionally, the tickets are valid only for Super Smash Bros. for Switch. Other games at Nintendo’s booth will be available for play on a first-come, first-served basis.

Learn to use the King of Dinosaurs’ buffed crouching heavy punch with this new The King of Fighters XIV tutorial

With its recent 3.0 patch to The King of Fighters XIV, the King of Dinosaurs received a number of changes meant to patch some holes in his gameplan. Among these, however, is one that some players may be overlooking: the expanded hit box on his crouching hard punch.

As demonstrated in the video below by APE OF THE UNIVERSE, expanding the hitbox on crouching hard punch (or “2C” in numeric notation) gives the wrestler formerly known as Tizoc better hit confirms. He gains him more damage from further out, whereas prior to the patch, he had to go for sub-optimal combo routes from these ranges. This is on top of having a much more lenient close range confirm into Quick Max.

In addition to this however, the expanded hit box also gives King of Dinosaurs a better anti-air option. Prior to the buff, he had to go for a preemptive air-to-air to stop jump ins. With the buff, he can now use crouching hard punch to anti-air instead, especially since it has auto-guard frames.

ARIKA shows off gameplay of Fighting EX Layer’s Shadowgeist, Skullomania, Sanane, Doctrine Dark, Darun Mister, Kairi, & Hokuto

For those hungry for some more Fighting EX Layer action, here’s some great news. ARIKA has dropped a new gameplay video showing off some fights between some of the game’s cast.

The video below showcases fights between a number of classic characters in Fighting EX Layer. The video starts with Skullomania taking on Shadowgiest, followed by Sanane, then we have Doctrine Dark grappling with Darun Mister, before finally concluding with the siblings Kairi and Hokuto.

Fighting EX Layer is coming to PlayStation 4 on this June.
