“Dante Must Die” in this Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite community combo video

Those following Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite at Winter Brawl may have gotten a glimpse of a combo video called “Dante Must Die,” shown just before top 8. The video is a project led by former Shoryuken staffer Joseph “Wolverine Master” Quashie, and is a spiritual follow-up to a series of combo videos for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 called “Wesker Must Die.”

Now, for those who either missed the video (or simply want to see it again) Wolverine Master has uploaded it onto his YouTube channel.

The video below features the work of Josh360, Hi I’m Nasty, Ketsui, YoungBlood, BabaGhanoush, Dr. Snaketits, Mosh, Shadowed Fate, and of course, Wolverine Master himself. As the title states, it focuses on combos that can kill Dante (or any character with 9,000 life) by taking advantage of the increased damage and other properties of the Power Stone’s Infinity Storm.

In addition to this, they also tease a future follow up video, this time focusing on the Time Stone.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy is getting Switch port in Japan

Despite recent strides, it’s still pretty much slim pickings when it comes to fighting games on the Nintendo Switch. However, it seems its fighting game library is about to grow by three more titles, as Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced a port of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy for the Switch in Japan.

Originally released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in the summer of 2017, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy is a compilation of CyberConnect2’s Ultimate Ninja games for the Naruto franchise. Specifically, it features Naruto: Ultimate Ninja StormNaruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst. The Western physical release (called Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Legacy) also featured Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: Road to Boruto, however this will not be included in the Switch port.

With the transition to Switch, the three games will now run at a resolution of 1600 x 900 when docked, and 960 x 540 when in portable mode. While this is lower than the 1920 x 1080 in the other versions of Trilogy, the docked resolution is still higher than 1280 x 720 of the original PS3 versions. Meanwhile, the Switch version’s frame rate will match the 30 fps of the original PS3 versions.

In terms of additional content, the Switch ports will have the same DLC as the PS4 version.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy launches on Nintendo Switch in Japan on April 26, 2018. Whether or not it’ll get a Western release is — as of yet — unknown.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds is available now for PC on Steam and Humble Bundle

Finally, after a long and storied development period, Mane6’s Them’s Fightin’ Herds has finally been released.

And to think that the game almost never happened! Originally started as a popular fan game based on Hasbro’s My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the game was hit with a cease and desist order from said company. The project got a shot in the arm, however, thanks to Friendship is Magic producer Lauren Faust — who offered to help the team create an original cast and setting for the game. On top of this, Lab Zero provided a free license to use the engine for Skullgirls via a stretch goal on the latter’s DLC crowdfund campaign.

Now, almost half a decade since then, Them’s Fightin’ Herds is finally available for purchase.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds tells the story of a tournament (natch) between the “Key Seekers” of various tribes from the realm of Fœnum. These Key Seekers are looking for the a magical key that will once again lock away the Predators that are threatening the tribes of Fœnum. The winner of this competition will become the Key Keeper, who will face the champion of the Predators.

The game itself launches with six characters: Arizona the cow, Velvet the reindeer, Paprika the alpaca, Oleander the unicorn, Pom the sheep, and Tianhuo the longma (a winged, draconic horse from Chinese mythology). These characters are controlled via four-button control scheme with 3 normal attack buttons (light, medium, heavy) and a fourth “magic” button. The latter can act similarly to the “meter burn” button in NetherRealm Studios games, allowing for powered up versions of the characters’ special moves.

Online play for Them’s Fightin’ Herds is handled by the vaunted GGPO rollback netcode. The implementation of this in Skullgirls (whose engine this game uses) is still to this day one of the best implementations of online play in any fighter, so it stands to reason that this’ll be the case here as well. To this, the game adds a new visual lobby where you can hang around in locations in Fœnum, using customizable avatars.

For those interested, Them’s Fightin’ Herds can now be purchased via both Steam and Humble Bundle.

Mr. Peck shows off more stylish and explosive combos for Peacock in Skullgirls 2nd Encore

If you’re a Skullgirls 2nd Encore fan who’s been following Shoryuken, you’ll probably be familiar with Mr. Peck and the combo videos he’s put out for the game. These include a couple of combo videos for Peacock, showing some stylish things this erstwhile-zoner can do.

Mr. Peck has since managed to find even more amazing and stylish combos for Peacock. The video below is filled with ways Peacock can be used to create sometimes unbelievable-looking combos with other characters. As expected, it features a healthy amount of Lenny (her giant-sized living bomb), using him in unique ways to blow him —  and sometimes her partner — up. Additionally, he also has a healthy dose of Robo Fortune, using her hitboxes behind her (and of course, blowing her up too) to extend these combos.

Broly and Bardock’s profiles and stats are now up on the Dragon Ball FighterZ official site

Hot on the heels of giving us our first in game visuals of them, Bandai Namco Games has now put up the character pages for Broly and Bardock on the official Dragon Ball FighterZ website in Japan.

The profiles given for both fighters seem to give good indication of how they’ll play in the game. Specifically, Broly seems like he’ll play like a traditional “big body” character, with armor on his moves. His stats seem to support this with both power and reach rated as “SS”, while his speed is rated at a lowly “C”.

Goku’s dad Bardock on the other hand seems to be more of a rushdown chararcter. To this end, his power and speed are rated as “S”, but his reach is only rated as “B”, making him out to be a fast character meant to fight up close to his opponent. Interestingly enough, both characters are both rated as “S” in terms of ease of use.

In addition to these, we’re also given the names of what may be their super moves. Broly’s is the “Eraser Cannon”, while Bardock has the “Riot Javelin”. This is on top of the ultimate attack names we previously learned which are “Gigantic Meteor” for Broly, and “Revenger Assault” for Bardock.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is getting the Orbonne Monastery stage this March

Aside from additional characters, it seems that Square Enix will be updating Dissidia Final Fantasy NT with new stages as well. The company has announced that the game is getting a new stage, the Orbonne Monastery, in an update this March.

The Orbonne Monastery hails from 1997’s highly-acclaimed turn based strategy spin-off Final Fantasy Tactics. Specifically, it’s where the game’s introductory battle takes place. The Dissidia Final Fantasy NT version faithfully recreates that stage, as the trailer below demonstrates.

As for the arcade version: that’ll be getting the Orbonne Monastery earlier, as part of its February 22nd update.

Noble|Raptor breaks down the TMNT “Turtling” Glitch in Injustice 2

With the introduction of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as guest characters in Injustice 2, it seems we’ve also seen the dawn of a new glitch that, appropriately, involves “Turtling.”

No, the glitch doesn’t involve actually playing defensively, in fact, what it allows for is the furthest thing from it. Rather, the name comes from the foursome’s “Turtling” special.  Specifically, the glitch allows the meter burn version of this special to recover much more quickly, allowing for more pressure and combos.

Noble’s Raptor breaks down this glitch, and how to use it in the video below. This includes some character-specific things players can do, for specific Turtles. Make the most of it before this particular game mutation gets patched out!

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will have an “Episode Mode” with a story for each of the four franchises

With the game being a crossover between four different franchises, some may be wondering about how BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will handle its story; well, it turns out that it’ll be doing this by providing a story for each franchise.

In this week’s issue of Famitsu, Arc System Works dropped some details about the game’s “Episode Mode.” The mode will feature a separate story for each franchise: Atlus’ Persona 4, French-Bread’s Under Night In-Birth, Rooster Teeth’s RWBY, and of course ArcSys’ own BlazBlue.

Further details on how Episode Mode itself works, and how it ties all these stories together, have yet to be revealed. More will likely be explained when a full translation of the issue arrives — or when Arc System Works reveals it themselves.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle launches for PlayStation 4, and Switch on May 31 in Japan, followed by June 5 for the US.
