Next year will see the launch of the first new VIRTUAL-ON game from Sega in a long time, with the crossover title Toaru Majutsu no VIRTUAL-ON. For those who still can’t believe that we’re getting a new game in the series — or that this crossover is actually a thing — Sega continues to offer more proof of its existence with the release of its Japanese box art.

The box art features the main character of Toaru Majutsu no Index lead Touma Kamijo and his version of VIRTUAL-ON‘s main mecha, the MBV-707-G/VSL “Temjin 707.”  Check out the box art below:

Toaru Majutsu no VIRTUAL-ON launches on PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita — in Japan — on February 15, 2018. No word yet on whether or not the game will see a Western release.

A new update for Tekken 7 has just gone live. While the big thing that the update brings is DLC guest character Geese Howard from SNK’s Fatal Fury and King of Fighters franchises, it also adds one much requested feature to online matches  — rematches.

With the update to version 1.09, Tekken 7 players can now make use of a rematch option in player matches. The only limitation of this is that it only works in player rooms that have been limited to two players.

Aside from this, the patch also adds new movies in the gallery. The game will now also keep track of individual character rankings based on win count in its leaderboards.

Tekken 7‘s version 1.09 update is currently live on PlayStation 4 and Steam. Xbox One is expected to follow before Geese’s listed launch time.

One of the main goals for most players looking to make the step into competitive fighting games is to be able to travel to tournaments around the country. Sadly, not everybody can afford to travel. As such, any sort of competition that gives players a chance to travel is a greet boon to the community.

One such competition is the new online tournament series by Body Count Fighting. Starting on December 11, Body Count Fighting will hold a series of online tournaments for Injustice 2, Tekken 7, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, and Street Fighter V. The winners of these tournaments will win a chance to fly to Los Angeles to participate in an offline Body Count Fighting tournament sometime in 2018.

The dates and times for the online tournaments are as follows.

• Monday, 12/11 @ 4:00PM PST – Injustice 2 Online Tournament
• Tuesday, 12/12 @ 4:00PM PST – Tekken 7 Online Tournament
• Monday, 12/18 @ 4:00PM PST – Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Online Tournament
• Tuesday, 12/19 @ 4:00PM PST – Street Fighter V Online Tournament

Body Count Fighting is holding these events in cooperation with Brachyon. Interested players can sign up over at their Brachyon page.

Arc System Works has generally done a bang-up job of bringing their fighting games to the PC via Steam. Both the latest updates to their flagship fighters, Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 and BlazBlue: Central Fiction have been successfully brought over to Valve’s service.

For anyone who has yet to pick up either title, now may be a great time to do so. Both Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 and BlazBlue: Central Fiction are on sale on Steam, as part of their Autumn Sale (active now, until November 28).

Both bundles for Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 are discounted on Steam at 30% off. The base “Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- + REV 2 All-in-One” package is now only $31.49, down from $44.99. Meanwhile, the “REV 2 Deluxe All-in-One” now goes for only $41.99, down from $59.99. In addition to this, the base Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- is also on sale, at 50% off, however this does not include the REV 2 update.

Meanwhile, BlazBlue: Central Fiction is also on sale. Interested players can get the game for only $23.99, 40% off its $39.99 regular price.
