As we grow closer and closer to Mortal Kombat X’s launch, tons of details are being provided on playable characters, extra content, and more. While some sources are a more dubious than others, the latest bit of information comes straight from NetherRealm Studios’ Adam Urbano.

During an interview with GameCrate at Game Developers Conference 2015, the senior producer let slip not once, but twice that series veteran Johnny Cage will be playable in the upcoming fighter. The first name drop comes in reference to the story mode, but he adds to that later on by mentioning the action star has one of his favorite Brutalities in the game.

Kenshi was spoken of as well, which falls in line with a recent screenshot that was released for the mobile port, but specific details about his playability on home platforms is still left up in the air.

Urbano also spoke a little bit about the connectivity that will be present between the console and mobile versions of the game, stating that the unlocks provided will be a bit crazier than those seen in Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Today, Aksys Games has announced that they will be localizing BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND for the western market, bringing the updated gameplay and expanded roster already being enjoyed by players in Japanese arcades to North America sometime this summer.

In addition to making Celica A. Mercury and Lambda-11 playable and revamping the guard gauge system, this upgraded port includes a brand new storyline involving characters from the spin-off manga Remix Heart.

This release also marks the franchise’s first arrival on current-generation consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, though luckily folks who have yet to purchase these new platforms can still get their fix on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND will be available in both physical and digital forms when it launches later this year. Aksys Games currently has no plans to produce a limited edition bundle, but stay tuned for more details.

Early this morning, Level|Up Series announced the extensive collection of games that players will be able to compete in at SoCal Regionals 2015.

While all the regulars are here, there are also quite a few surprises, including another appearance by Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Full Boost.

SoCal Regionals 2015 will also play host to two separate qualifiers, allowing competitors the opportunity to earn spots at Capcom Cup 2015 and Team NINJA’s Dead or Alive 5 Last Round Battle Royale 2015 grand finals.

As part of their recent move to eliminate subscription fees for Unreal Engine 4, Epic Games dropped a brand new promotional video showcasing a lineup of games that utilized the tool during their development. This sizzle reel accomplished its actual goal, for sure, but it also revealed some new details on Tekken 7.

While not all that shocking, it appears as if Tekken 7 will eventually make its way to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The fighter is currently enjoying an early launch in arcades across Japan, with a full release planned for later this month.

Bandai Namco Games has yet to make any formal announcements about their plans for bringing Tekken 7 to consoles, but this is a pretty good sign that one is in the works. The only question now is how long players will have to wait between releases.

Since first being announced in January, the player lineup for Red Bull Kumite has been somewhat of a mystery. Small reveals were made here and there by the competitors themselves, but we weren’t provided a full look at the talent pool…until today, that is.

The organizers themselves recently provided new details on the upcoming event, sharing the entire lineup of players that will be making their way to France to compete. In addition to Kun “RZR|Xian” Ho, Naoki “BE|Nemo” Nemoto, Olivier “MD|Luffy” Hay, Hajime “MCZ|Tokido” Taniguchi, and Kenryo “MCZ|Mago” Hayashi, Red Bull Kumite will see appearances from Masato “Bonchan” Takahashi, Eric “CNB|ChuChu” Silva, MCZ|Daigo Umehara, Kevin “TSC|Dieminion” Landon, Keita “RZR|Fuudo” Ai, Seonwoo “Infiltration” Lee, Ryan “Prodigal Son” Heart, Darryl “Snake Eyez” Lewis, and Valentin “GL|Valmaster” Petit.

Last-chance qualifiers will also be held the day of the event, allowing the top two placers to join this illustrious group of competitors.

As it stands, eight countries will be represented in the sixteen-player bracket, providing a glimpse of high-level Ultra Street Fighter IV competition from all across the globe.

Hipster mecca Austin, Texas will once again play host to South by Southwest’s gaming convention this year, but with an added twist: Street Fighter!

Sixteen of the world’s best Ultra Street Fighter IV players have been invited to the expo to compete in what’s sure to be an intense competition. The full list of participants can be found below.

Competition will consist of a group stage, with players split similarly to our columns above, before the top four from each section move onto the finals. From there, it’s a simple double-elimination bracket setup to decide who is crowned champion.

Oh, and did we mention there’s $20,000 on the line?

SXSW Gaming Expo 2015 is scheduled for March 13-15. Entry to the invitational tournament is completely free, and a live stream will be provided through Twitch for those unable to attend in person.

While the next Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- update has been scheduled for a vague March release, the announcement of a final round of location tests may indicate that the arcade version may be patched sooner than later.

According to new details from developer Arc System Works, more public demonstrations for the ver.1.10 update are set to begin on March 5 and last for about a week. Much like past showings, these events will take place at various Club Sega locations in Tokyo.

Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-‘s ver.1.10 patch introduces console-exclusive characters Sin Kiske, Elphelt Valentine, and Leo Whitefang and a multitude of changes for the existing cast members.
