Undefeated Announces Adoption of PlayStation 4 Version of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as Tournament Standard

In an announcement last night, Arizona tournament series Undefeated declared that their Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 events would be run on the PlayStation 4 version of the game, meaning that both their tournament singles and Curleh Mustache event will be run on the PS4.

According to Angelic–who has plenty of pedigree in UMvC3, with two top 3 Evo finishes under his belt–the PS4 port of the game is excellent, and it is stable for offline play. Angelic did warn that if problems do emerge before the tournament, Undefeated will revert back to the Xbox 360 version of UMvC3.

Undefeated–which takes place on February 4 and 5–marks the first major Marvel tournament to make the switch to the PS4 version of UMvC3, and will likely set the tournament standard going forward.

Stop Getting Hit By Ken’s Corner Tatsu V-Trigger Mixup in Street Fighter V

It’s quick, it’s ambiguous, and if you get hit by it you’ll be taking big damage. When Ken pops V-Trigger and lands a heavy dragon punch in the corner, you’ll often see them throw out a light tatsu while you are on the ground. This puts you in the situation of having to decide a direction to block in, and choosing wrong will be brutally punished.

We’ve seen players like Ryan Hart use this trick to good effect, but as it turns out, it’s not really a mixup after all. Check the video below for more information–no more getting hit!

Garou: Mark of the Wolves is Finally on PS4–But How Is the Netplay?

It’s no stretch to say that Garou: Mark of the Wolves is one of SNK’s most beloved fighting games. It’s also one of the most commonly ported, making an appearance on consoles from the Dreamcast to the recent release on the PlayStation 4.

It’s been around for 17 years–so can you teach an old dog new tricks? Well, this edition comes with the ability to play others over the internet–but how usable is it? Find out with this video from MarginalSC. Bear in mind that this is a small set of samples, but it’s a good way to get an idea of how decent the netcode actually is.

There’s a big update on the way for The King of Fighters XIV–but it’s a little different to what you might be used to. There’s no balance changes, in this patch at least: instead there are changes to the lighting and shaders for the game engine, giving all your favorite characters a very different look.

Version 1.10 isn’t available for us stuck at home, but it did make a little outing to the PlayStation Experience where YouTuber chocobotiger grabbed some footage of the game in action. Check it out below for a glimpse of what is in store.

Maximize Your Meaties in Mortal Kombat X with Active Frames

It’s not easy to keep your opponent under pressure at the best of times, but when your strongest pressure tools aren’t safe, things get even more difficult. That’s where understanding active frames comes in handy–by hitting with later frames, you can make moves safe that otherwise wouldn’t be, and make unique combos possible. Check out the video from xMEECHx2015 for more information on how useful active frames can be in Mortal Kombat X.

Scizor Announced as Newest DLC for Pokkén Tournament

We knew that there was another character on the way, and with the announcement of Darkrai seemingly confirming a widely shared leak about the three planned DLC characters, most conversation was on whether or not it would be Scizor or Empoleon.

This time, it’s the steel encased bug taking the stage, with an early trailer and some gameplay to feast your eyes on. It’ll be some time before we see what the character is truly capable of, but this is a great chance to get a first look.

There’s still no word on whether or not these DLC characters will be arriving on the Wii U version of the game, or whether they will be exclusive to the arcades, so for now, we’ll just have to wait in hope.

Bring the Thunder to Street Fighter V with Laura’s Delayed Wakeup Mix-ups

There are few things better in Street Fighter V than watching a great Laura go on a roll. All she needs is a few good reads to strip away a full bar of health–and she can make it even simpler when she gets the chance to unleash her mix-ups.

Revelant has done some lab work with the Brazilian wonder, coming up with a variety of fun options to punish an opponent for failing to quick rise, or for those fun moments where she finds a hard knockdown. Moral of the story? Make sure to quick rise against Laura, unless you’re very sure your defense is on point.
