Try This On for Size! Bafael Takes a Look at Assorted Rose Tools in Ultra Street Fighter IV

The road to character mastery is a long one, filled with training and information that may go unused for a time. That doesn’t mean that the technology is bad, but when getting into the groove with your character of choice, habits form and that unused stuff can fade into the background.

In the clip below, Bafael digs up some Ultra Street Fighter IV strategies for the Rose player who has a good idea about what’s going on with the character but may be looking for a few new tools to add to their game to keep things fresh. There’s also a very real chance that Rose players who watch the footage will know about these techniques, but they’re worth taking a second look at all the same.

Bafael includes hit confirmation options that don’t involve one frame links–which are always welcome, especially for online warriors–some ways to combo into her Ultra 1 as well as methods of netting around 600 damage with a fairly simple string of attacks.

If you enjoy this style of tutorial, be sure to check out Bafael’s extensive list of tutorials by following this link!

Geoff the Hero Takes a Serious Look at Killer Instinct’s Omen

Killer Instinct’s version 2.3 patch has been in the hands of players since yesterday, which means that we’ve all had a chance to spend a little quality time with Omen, the Herald of Gargos. If you’ve found the play style of this mix-up-heavy demon appealing, but are looking for a bit of a springboard to get the ideas for how to best lay waste to enemies flowing, Geoff the Hero’s day one breakdown has just what you’re looking for.

This video is all business, which isn’t something that we typically see from Geoff, but that doesn’t change the fact that the information is crucial to dominating matches as the game’s newcomer. Geoff covers some ambiguous cross-up options, the various methods of employing Omen’s shadow, and a general idea for how the character should be played.

Jay Rego Shares Useful Post-Ultra Setups for Sakura in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Jay Rego sent in a video earlier this week that covered how to make the most of Sakura’s plinked EX Tatsu. As it turns out, this nuanced attack comes in pretty handy when following up her Ultra 2 at midscreen, an attack that may not readily appear to have a lot of setup potential.

In the video below, you’ll see how this kara-cancel can lead to some ambiguous situations following the Ultra, but Rego covers a host of other options as well. Most of the setups presented expend an incredible amount of meter, usually involving an FADC as well as an EX Hadouken or Tatsu, so you’ll want to be sure to keep opponents on their toes by mixing up the setups used. There are plenty to choose from, though, so that shouldn’t be a problem!

Get Wario’s Motor Running with This Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Guide

Wario isn’t the only character in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U that can summon items–far from it, actually–but the item that he summons may be one of the most unique, especially when compared to more mundane options like Mega Man’s Metal Blade or Diddy’s banana. Due to its special properties, it’s important to know how to make the most out of Wario’s motorcycle once the rubber hits the pavement, or in some cases, the air.

My Smash Corner, the same YouTube channel that brought us Charizard’s sliding Rock Smash technique and an excellent early guide to performing perfect pivoting, has compiled some tips and tricks for Wario players who want to get the most mileage out of the bike. He covers topics like ledge-canceling for punishing an overzealous edge-guarder, a way to make his bike go at full speed as soon as it appears, and a lot more.

These techniques aren’t unbeatable, but it’s always good to have as many options as possible.

ssb4-8p-622-crop

While it certainly won’t affect tournament play, Nintendo’s most recent Super Smash Bros. for Wii U patch more than doubles the pool of playable stages in 8-Player Smash mode. This news comes as quite the boon to the casual Smasher who has plenty of extra controllers lying around and enough friends to fill each one, and should also add a good deal more variety to the frantic action that the mode already offers.

The new stages can be broken up into two quick lists, which you’ll find below.

Standard Mode

  • Mario Circuit
  • Luigi’s Mansion
  • Pyrosphere
  • Norfair
  • Lylat Cruise
  • Pokemon Stadium 2
  • Animal Crossing – Town and City
  • Animal Crossing – Smashville
  • Wii Fit Studio

Omega Mode

  • Mario Galaxy
  • Mario Circuit
  • Kirby: The Great Cave Offensive
  • Lylat Cruise
  • Pokemon Stadium 2
  • Animal Crossing – Town and City

The patch weighs in at a modest 316 MB and can be downloaded to your Wii U console right now!

Cjbqulix Unleashes Hugo’s Omega Mode Potential in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Hugo’s damage in Ultra Street Fighter IV isn’t exactly small potatoes. Through proper meter usage and relatively simple combos into his Ultra, he can make health bars vanish with the best of them. When he switches over to Omega Mode, though, things get a little out of hand.

To demonstrate just how crazy the Street Fighter III veteran can get when the gloves are off, cjbqulix has compiled a collection of Hugo combos and setups that will leave opponents either dead or close enough that a proper guess will guarantee a victory. The video also showcases a handful of unlisted changes that the grappler received that help keep things fresh as well as devastating.

If you enjoy this video, you’ve got a lot to look forward to in the future, as cjbqulix says that this is only the first of many similar reels to come.
