Ultra Street Fighter IV Omega Mode Roundup feat. Blanka Combos, Juri’s Aerial Rave, and More

Omega Mode just turned half a week old and, as is evident from the videos we’ve received, everyone is having a blast with this modern (albeit toned down) answer to Rainbow Edition. We’ve got another great collection of crazy conten for you today, so let’s get started!

Starting off, Tom Badguy (no relation to Sol) uploaded a collection of quick combos for a variety of characters. Guile, Adon, and Evil Ryu take center stage to flaunt their new Omega Mode toys in a variety of different ways.

If you haven’t yet seen Evil Ryu’s new Hadouken in action, it’s a different sort of experience from the standard, or even the aerial, projectile that Akuma offers. It’s a strange middle ground between the two, existing in both worlds just long enough to collide with some faces.

Next up, Indo Imran returns with a handful of new Blanka combos. The best thing about the fighter’s Omega iteration is how normal most of the combos look for their duration. Everything’s completely calm as the electric Brazilian slaps his targets around a few times then cancels into Rolling Attack…then rolls back a second time for good measure.

Things get crazy when he breaks out the two bar version of Shout of Earth to put an end to his strings.

I’ve often compared Juri’s Feng Shui Engine combos to something we’d see out of the Marvel series, and I know that I’m not alone in feeling this way. Those magic series cancels just look so much like the signature combos that Magneto and the crew have at their command. This footage from UGSLive only helps to cement this idea, as Juri not only performs a full ground series, but also takes Ryu into the sky for some aerial rave action.

What sorts of insanity have you found in Omega Mode? Record your videos and send them our way through our tip line!

Bafael Covers the Benefits of the Crouching Shoryuken in Ultra Street Fighter IV

The crouching Shoryuken was an interesting addition to Street Fighter IV. Thanks to the way that the game handles inputs, the shortcut of down-forward, down, down-forward allows players to slam out super fast dragon punches without having to go through those pesky standing animations. It’s also just plain easier to do once you get used to it and you don’t look goofy when you’re buffering a dragon punch motion anymore. Crouching is way cooler than that awkward stumbling forward walk alternative.

Of course, ease of use and the ability to hide the fact that you’re buffering an input are only a couple of the benefits of this useful technique. In his newest Street Fighter 4 primer video, Bafael covers these as well as a handful of other reasons to keep this trick in your back pocket. There’s a good chance you’ve been using this technique for a while, but have you been using it to its fullest potential? Check out the video below to see!

If you enjoy this style of tutorial video, Bafael has released tons of other content ranging from character tutorials to mechanics breakdowns. Follow this link to check them out!

Ryu Lets the Plasma Fly in Post-Patch Ultra Street Fighter IV

While many players have understandably turned their attention to the exciting world of Omega Mode, players like todoro3S have instead taken the time to uncover new technology hidden within the slight alterations of Ultra Street Fighter IV’s main 1.04 patch.

Ryu’s Hadoukens were among the apsects of the game to receive minor tweaks, receiving slight speed alterations depending on the version of the fireball that is thrown. These changes allow for some fireball combos that weren’t possible before and, while many of the strings that todoro demonstrates involve a great deal of meter, there are some options that build quite a bit as well while dishing out respectable damage numbers. Ryu players should definitely take this change into consideration when it comes time to combo.

And here’s a bonus combo that didn’t make it into the original footage.

Guile’s Theme Clashes with Wu-Tang Clan in this Mashup from TechnoJustice

Aspiring indie Dj and producer TechnoJustice recently contacted us to share one of their newest creations. It’s an unlikely mashup that combines the Street Fighter IV mix of Guile’s theme with Da Mystery of Chessboxin’ from the Wu-Tang Clan.

This track is a pretty good piece of evidence in support of the argument that Guile’s theme goes with everything. If you’re looking to fill your earholes with something a little different today, give it a listen.

Also, it should go without saying, but there are some seriously NSFW lyrics at work here. Wait until the commute home to crank it up.

Become a More Efficient Demon with this Ultra Street Fighter IV Akuma Combo and Setup Video

Akuma has always been able to lay down some serious damage. His array of specials, the way his juggles work and his wide selection of special-cancelable moves in Ultra Street Fighter IV give him an alarming number of ways to get the job done, but with so many options, which ones come out on top?

Drive Cancel took Akuma version 1.04 to the lab and figured out some of the most efficient ways to unleash the demon in combat. These combos make use of some of the changes that the Dark Hado wielder saw in the Ultra update, so you’ll see some things like far standing fierce special cancels.

If you’ve already got a handle on efficient Akuma damage output, you may find the setups that Drive Cancelled has included helpful.

DriveCancelled Show How Demons Deal with Delayed Wake Up in Ultra Street Fighter IV

When it was announced, delayed wake up sounded like the perfect way for Capcom to put a stop to the okizeme-focused style of play that everyone had become so accustomed to in Street Fighter IV. As the months since the mechanic’s implementation have stretched on, we’ve seen that some characters can not only mitigate the impact of those extra frames spent on the floor, but can, on reaction, modify their setups to work (or at least remain safe) regardless of if there’s a delay or not. I think it’s funny that Ibuki and Akuma, two of the strongest okizeme characters from pre-Ultra, count themselves among those who can largely react to the word “Technical” appearing on the screen.

If you’ve been looking to take advantage of these sorts of setups, the latest video from DriveCancelled provides enough options to keep your time in the lab filled with timing practice. While many of these setups do allow for adjustment, there are a handful that still require a hard read to pull off successfully. Many of the setups also involve a good deal of leniency in their timings, and those are noted with the handy in-video text overlays.

If you’ve got Akuma setups under control, why not check out DriveCancelled’s previous video that puts the “demon” in “efficient combo demonstration”?

I’m sorry. That was terrible.

JDog Breaks Out the Big Guns in His Newest Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Combo Video, Scientific Weaponry

JDog, known for his Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 combo video series The Giants of Science, which focuses on his main team, Hulk, Nemesis and Sentinel, recently released a high-quality combo exhibition with a slightly different focus. This time, instead of big bodies stealing the show, big weapons take the stage in the hands of a team he’s calling “Heavy Weaponry.” There’s good reason for the name, too, as Chris Redfield commands a plethora of guns and explosives, Mike Haggar makes bopping people with a pipe look like art and, well, Sentinel is just Sentinel.

The combos demonstrated push the limits of damage output and meter gain, especially when the raccoon city veteran takes point. The video also features some new combos from JDog’s main team as well, so get ready for Hulk and the boys to do some serious smashing.

Get Your Falcon Punch Fix with this Super Smash Bros. Brawl Montage

There’s something so satisfying about seeing a well-timed Falcon Punch light someone up and send them flying, or watching a perfectly-placed Fair connect to secure a match. If these are the sorts of things that get your blood pumping–and they probably are–then you’ll love the video embedded below.

The footage, which comes entirely from Brawl, shows off some of the craziest Falcon fighting out there. Everything from a Meta Knight eating two Falcon Punches at once, to what may be the most perfect Falcon Punch ever recorded. Add in a soundtrack straight from Mute City and it’s hard not to have a good time.

Warm Up Your Warlock Punches, It’s Time for Alpharad’s How to Play Ganondorf 101

Thanks to the incredible damage output, knock back and windup time of his Warlock Punch, and, to a lesser extent, his up tilt, Ganondorf thrives on making difficult reads in order to secure stocks in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Of course, he can net kills with plenty of other moves as well, but let’s face it, there’s nothing quite so satisfying as landing his signature move.

Below, you’ll find a Ganondorf highlight reel from Alpharad, and since this is a video from his How to Play series, you’ll not only get to see the Zelda antagonist land some perfect Warlock Punches, but you’ll see plenty of hilarious uses of most of his other attacks as well. Get ready for some shield breaks, plenty of Ganoncides, and only the hardest of reads.
