Learn How to Dish Out (and Deal with) Bayonetta’s Best Options in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

With all the hype surrounding Street Fighter V, it’s easy to lapse into temporary amnesia with regard to other fighting titles. Luckily, My Smash Corner is still hard at work providing helpful Super Smash Bros. for Wii U content for those not wholly enamored with Capcom’s latest offering.

Their most recent video focuses on tech for series newcomer Bayonetta. Since she has come to be known for her devastating kill combos, you’ll find plenty of information on how to execute these strings against a few different directional influence options and weight classes. Perhaps more importantly, My Smash Corner includes a lengthy segment on how to prevent this gun-toting terror from scoring free stocks.

Whether you play as or against her, this Bayonetta video is worth a watch.

Don’t Fall Victim to Crossups in Street Fighter V

Fighting games are complex. Learning how to create damage opportunities of your own while defending against an opponent’s attempt at the same can turn some seemingly simple strategies into truly overwhelming situations.

Because of this–and, certainly, other reasons, too–newcomers often have difficulty dealing with crossups. Even if they know how to correctly change their block direction, they may still find themselves stuck in an endless spin cycle with an opponent hopping from side to side attempting to crack them open with the same string until they eventually hit a button at the wrong time and eat a full combo. It’s frustrating.

In another recent tutorial video, jmcrofts addresses a few methods for dealing with these potentially infuriating attacks. Of course, the defender still needs to hone their reaction times in order to successfully pull these off, but, if nothing else, the video demonstrates that a crossup heavy offense is far from bulletproof.

For more beginner tips, be sure to check out the rest of jmcrofts’ videos.

Practice Frame Traps in Street Fighter V’s Training Mode

The importance of frame traps can’t be denied, but figuring out how to perform them, or even what they are, can prove difficult to those new to the genre. In a recent video, jmcrofts offers a quick definition of the term, shows when frame traps can and should be applied in a match, and then goes on to demonstrate how to practice them in Street Fighter V’s training mode through the use of various options.

As with the other training mode videos we’ve featured since the release of Street Fighter V, this information might be old news to the majority of our readers; however, if you know someone taking their first steps into the realm of fighting, have them give it a watch. It may help them enjoy themselves more when throwing down for Fight Money.

Lamerboi’s Rashid Goes Marvel Against PR Balrog in Street Fighter V

Evil Geniuses’ Eduardo “PR Balrog” Perez has done his fair share of match recording throughout the early life of Street Fighter V. He’s used Vega, Necalli, Laura, and a handful of other characters to dispatch opponents, but all of his training up to this point didn’t prepare him for a recent match against Lamerboi’s Rashid.

Their match starts out looking standard enough, but once Eduardo has Lamerboi on the ropes, things change; the restrictors truly come off. In a tweet containing the match video, Eduardo notes that Rashid looks a lot like a Marvel character in Lamerboi’s hands, an easy comparison to draw after witnessing the character’s juggle potential.

We’ve included this replay below alongside a couple more from Eduardo’s channel to highlight  his other matches. If you’d like to see even more, be sure to head over to YouTube.

Street Fighter V Roundup – Character Tutorials, Karin Safe Jumps, and More

It’s time for another Street Fighter V community roundup! Today, we’ve got character tutorials, combo videos, and a varied collection of technology ranging from the most basic to fairly advanced. No matter your skill level, you’re sure to find something useful in today’s post.

We kick things off with a new set of character tutorials from Sajam. Those looking to jump right in to the game with a new character, or those looking to brush up on the basics of their favorite fighter will find these bite-sized bits of information invaluable in their quest. Below, we’ve included Sajam’s four most recent offerings, and you can follow this link to check out the whole series.

When it comes to combos, Doopliss never ceases to amaze, and their newest multi-character compilation is no exception. If you find yourself longing for something more than the everyday combo video, leave the past behind in favor of these often stylish strings.

Of course, Doopliss isn’t the only one putting together combo-related content. We also received a couple of videos from other players around the community, including Vexoid UK’s IndoImran’s take on Nash and Can’t Stop Playing’s approach to Birdie.

The guys at Smash and Grab kicked practical combos to the curb with their most recent Ken video. Multiple V-Skills, awkward spacing requirements, and plenty more training mode-only antics abound in this impressive reel. As an added bonus, the video clocks in at just under two minutes, so if you’re looking for a quick fix, this is the way to go.

Next up, CLxJames brings us a Karin video demonstrating the heiress’ ability to shut down many of Ken and Necalli’s wakeup dragon punch options. With a slight step forward following a standard bread and butter, Karin can keep herself safe from these wakeup attacks and in prime position to lay out some beefy punish damage.

Apolo Loussalier brings us another Rashid video today that focuses on various rushdown tactics the newcomer can employ. You’ll find a host of frame traps in the footage that should help poke holes in your opponent’s defense. Do note that these frame traps should be used as a springboard; the nature of such tactics makes it difficult to craft options that will work in every situation, so be prepared to make tweaks depending on the matchup in question.

And let’s wrap things up with a couple of beginner tactics videos from jmcrofts. You may have seen jmcrofts’ training mode tutorials, but the two videos included below focus on punishing very specific special moves–specifically wakeup dragon punches and Dhalsim’s teleport–as opposed to exploring training mode as a whole. If you’ve found yourself at a loss for how to deal with these moves, be sure to check out these tips

You’ve probably found some cool tactics of your own, so send them to us! Your videos could make it into our next Street Fighter V community roundup.

Momochi Talks Ryu Basics in Latest Street Fighter V Tutorial

With general system mechanics out of the way, it only makes sense for Evil Geniuses’ Momochi to spend his second Street Fighter V tutorial discussing Ryu.

In the video below, Momochi speaks to the traditional Ryu style and how that hasn’t changed all that much in Street Fighter V. This includes insights into how a lack of focus attacks has improved the strength of projectiles, how button strength affects projectile properties, how to apply the ever popular crouching forward, and much more. Normals, optimal crush counter combos, anti-airing options, and other necessary information make the cut as well.

And it wouldn’t be a Street Fighter V tutorial without a look into Ryu’s V-Skill, including tips on when to attempt a parry and when such a defensive option is impossible. As with all videos of this nature, those spending more time combating Ryu than playing him can also expect to learn a thing or two about the fighter when he finds himself in disadvantageous situations.

Pick Up Some Useful Street Fighter V Training Mode Tips

Those new to fighting games may be puzzled, or perhaps intimidated, by training mode. With this in mind, lordofultima set out to provide new fighting game players with some different things to try in order to not only familiarize themselves with the mode, but also to level up their Street Fighter V ability in the process.

This video offers a slightly different take on training mode options than what was presented yesterday by jmcrofts, so be sure to check out both videos to see how they can improve your training experience.

Many of our readers will already know how to make the most of Street Fighter V’s training mode, but this new era of fighting games has brought an influx of players who may not have ever hit The Grid to punch some robots. Feel free to pass this along to someone in need if it doesn’t exactly match your skill level.

Desk Destroys More Health Bars in Street Fighter V

We’re a week into the life of Street Fighter V and Desk has continued to work his magic through a number of new video segments. We’ve included four of latest newest offerings below for your viewing pleasure.

While not the most combo-heavy character in the game, Zangief can pull off some impressive feats by wading through several blows before finally unleashing his own attacks. This first video involves plenty of armor and several different ways for the Red Cyclone to combo into grabs.

Desk dedicates this next video to the dreadlocked fighter, Necalli. While many of the combos presented in this bit of footage aren’t too far out of the ordinary, Desk does include a few cases demonstrating the character’s juggle potential that may raise some eyebrows.

Sometimes it’s fun to have a way to smack opponents around after their life bars have emptied. When it comes to this sort of postmortem pummeling, no one in Street Fighter V can top Birdie. As Desk demonstrates below, the grappler has a number of ways to waste everyone’s time after leaving a round victorious–for added troll points, of course.

Sure, regular combos are exciting, but what about mid-combo meaties? In his most recent bit of footage, the combo creator shows how a delayed cancel into a dragon punch can affect Ken’s combo potential.

We round this segment out with Desk’s aptly named “Weird Stuff” video. For the next few minutes, you’re going to witness some seriously goofy interactions including backwards parries, F.A.N.G extending his opponent’s combos, wacky hitboxes, folks rapidly wiggling under a hovering Dhalsim, and much more. You’ve probably run into some of these interactions before, but you’re certain to see something new here.

If you missed Desk’s previous Street Fighter V videos, you can find them here.

Street Fighter V Roundup – Extensive Laura Strategy, Cammy Mixups, and More

Another day into the life of Street Fighter V, another community roundup. We’ve received loads of footage from familiar names and newcomers alike, and we’ve compiled the best we’ve received for your enjoyment. It’s study time!

Today’s roundup leans heavily toward combos, and who better to get us started than Bafael? You’ve probably seen plenty of his work by now, but if you haven’t, this is a great place to start. We’ve included his newest three combo videos below, and you can head over to his YouTube channel to find the rest if your character didn’t make it into this post.

The folks at Hurtbox TV have been busy cranking out combo reels as well. Their newest videos include footage for R. Mika, Chun-Li, Nash, and Karin. We’ve included those four new videos below, but you can find combos for many other cast members on their YouTube channel.

Laura takes the stage next in a couple of videos featuring various technology with a peppering of combos throughout. The first video, from Meno Jazz, features a general breakdown of how to use Laura’s V-Skill before moving on to various frame traps and mixups. The second video, from vryu123, focuses on okizeme and resets, while offering some general tips as well.

Madscientist hit the lab (yep) and figured out some ways to activate Karin’s V-Trigger while setting up meaty hits. Additionally, a correctly-timed V-Trigger activation can lead to a safe jump against 4 frame dragon punches, as demonstrated.

But that’s not all of the new Karin footage! We’ve received a few combo videos for the fighter as well. Evilhoshi, Persona, and Pepopulo all get in on the action, showing off what they’ve discovered for the heiress. Most of Pepopulo’s video showcases combos for stylishly putting down opponents, so if you’re looking to add some flair to your Karin, their video is a great place to get started.

MrOrchazm and Indoimran of Vexoid UK offer up some Cammy combo options in the next two bits of footage. The former’s video focuses more on the reset and mixup options the Killer Bee brings to the battle, so if you’re planning to fight dirty, you’ll definitely want to give it a look.

If you’ve found yourself having issues when facing Vega, this next video from Hiya Maya may help you dispatch the masked fighter. Thanks to a deceptive animation, Vega’s toward fierce may be scoring him additional (safe) pressure when it shouldn’t. As you’ll see below, the ninja’s hurtbox lingers during the attack’s recovery frames and can be heavily punished.

For those of you who prefer playing as the clawed assassin, we’ve included a handful of combos from ClutchCombo as well.

Up next, THE COOL KID93 takes Rashid online to demonstrate his potential. There’s a heavy focus on V-Trigger tricks in this footage, so if you’re looking for a way to wrap up a round or score some exceptionally devious damage, be sure to give it a look.

Being able to confirm into damage off a Crush Counter is important in Street Fighter V. In some cases, these confirmations can involve hard reads that, if unsuccessful, land the aggressor in a heap of trouble. In the case of F.A.N.G, Chocobuny has discovered an option select using a combination of standing fierce, throw, and command dash inputs to make Bison’s second-in-command perform a command dash for combo extension only if the fierce results in a Crush Counter.

In this next bit of footage, Johnny Bravo takes control of Dictator to demonstrate over six minutes of combos. The video doesn’t incorporate any fancy effects or editing tricks, so viewers can expect to witness plenty of combos in their purest form.

To close things out today, we’ve got a beginner video from MetalMusicMan. To give an idea of how basic the guide is, viewers will learn about topics like how cross-ups work, how to perform charge moves, how throws function, and plenty more.

Coming in two parts, this pair of videos clocks in at just under the 20 minute mark, but if you’re brand new to the game, they’re definitely worth your time.

You’ve probably found some tech of your own by now, why not drop us a line? Your footage could make it into our next community roundup!

Get a Grip on Faust’s Item Toss Mechanics in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-

Every character in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- brings a host of unique abilities to the battle, but none of these abilities offer the same sort of chaos as Faust’s item toss. The right item at the right time can change the flow of a match entirely, but only if the person playing Faust knows how to take advantage of such a situation.

In the video below, Zissou picks apart every item Faust can send careening toward his opponents and how to make the most of each piece as it appears. Additionally, the tutorial provides a look at how those fighting against Faust can deal with the chaotic nature of the character, so even those who don’t often find themselves at the helm of the good doctor can make use of this information.
