Wrap Your Ears Around Street Fighter V’s ‘City in Chaos’ Themes

With fan favorite Alex standing in the background, Street Fighter V’s City in Chaos stage doesn’t need much help generating hype. Even so, that hasn’t stopped Capcom from creating a couple of killer tracks to pair with the action.

Thanks to the arena’s appearance in the most recent stress tests, Versus Fighting TV was able to capture these themes and upload them for the rest of the community to check out.

How do you think these songs sound in comparison to some of the other themes we’ve heard so far? Let us know in the comments.

Keep Your Dragon Punches in Check Against Cammy in Street Fighter V

The Umeshoryu is a sure way to keep opponents on their toes, but failed attempts at this top-level trademark often find the would-be psychic suffering from a severe lack of health, sometimes coupled with a staggering dose of stun. Thanks to Street Fighter V’s Crush Counter system and the fact that it applies to recovering uppercuts, the upcoming title presents players with an even better reason to be mindful when attempting hard reads.

In the video below, wauhti offers a look at the options Cammy can bring to the battle when presented with a counter opportunity. These options call for various amounts of super meter, and some require the use of a V-Trigger. As an added bonus, Cammy’s distance from the opponent after combo completion changes depending on the combo ender, potentially allowing for varied follow-ups.

Core-A Gaming Breaks Ultra Street Fighter IV One Last Time

In their latest episode of “Breaking Ultra Street Fighter IV,” Core-A Gaming’s explores the stranger side of Capcom’s flagship fighter.

With such a long life, players have had more than enough time to discover plenty of strange interactions within the game’s engine, but there’s still a good chance you’ve not encountered all five of the things presented in the footage. Below, Gerald talks about dying during a Red Focus, Akuma chipping out opponents with Demon Armageddon, general death animations, and more.

Sadly, this is to be the last episode of the series, but fans have a Street Fighter V-focused version of the show to look forward to after the game launches next month.

Check Out Street Fighter V’s Newest Alternate Costumes in Motion

Chances are you’ve had a chance to look over the stills of the recently discovered Street Fighter V alternates, but pictures can only show so much. To get a better look how these outfits look in the heat of battle, r/Kappasvoice put together a quick video showcasing each new wardrobe offering.

In the footage, you’ll get to see every currently-known alternate costume in motion, from battle-damaged Bison to officer Chun-Li and everything in between. You’ll likely notice the distinct lack of an alternate option for Nash, but we can hope footage of the Frankensteined fighter’s latest apparel will surface soon.

Which costume do you plan to wear into battle? Let us know in the comments.

Prima Games Announces Street Fighter V Strategy Guide

If you enjoy the finer things in the world of fighting games, you’ll be pleased to know Prima Games has announced a hardcover collector’s edition of their upcoming Street Fighter V strategy guide. The book contains over 400 pages of frame data, tactics and combos, as well as a 16-page segment dedicated to Street Fighter V art.

In addition to the guide itself, this collectible guide comes with a special edition art print for framing, or, you know, leaning against some stuff on a shelf.

Since the folks at Prima haven’t yet mastered some sort of futuristic ink they can remotely alter, the information in the collector’s edition of the guide will likely remain accurate for a (very) limited period. Luckily, those who pick up a copy will also receive the mobile-friendly eGuide for free. On top of being markedly easier to tote around to tournaments, Prima has confirmed that the information provided in the mobile version of the guide will be updated throughout the first year of the game’s life so you can keep your frame data knowledge crisp.

The collector’s edition guide is set to release on February 16, and will set you back $39.99. Players can pick up the eGuide by itself for $9.99.

Add More Mobility Options to Your Rivals of Aether Game with Cactuar Dashing

The Beefy Aether Doods recently released a new Rivals of Aether tutorial, this time teaching viewers how to perform and effectively use the Cactuar Dash.

Cactuar Dashing in Rivals of Aether works much like its counterpart in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and provides players with a way to move in a style similar to dash dancing but without range limitations. Like most higher level techniques in Rivals of Aether, this option doesn’t take hours of training mode to master, but will certainly prove useful under the right circumstances.

For more tips from the Beefy Aether Doods, be sure to check out their tutorials on reverse aerial rushing and ledge canceling.

Tri-Borg Details Planned for ESL Mortal Kombat X Broadcast This Weekend

After a short hiatus, NetherRealm Studios is set to host another special Mortal Kombat X broadcast during this weekend’s ESL Pro League finale.

While it’s hard to pinpoint the Kombat Kast’s exact topics, creative director Ed Boon has made it clear that at least a portion will focus on upcoming character Tri-Borg. This might also indicate the cyborg mashup will lead the charge when Kombat Pack 2 officially kicks off this year.

Since the broadcast will be airing live from the ESL Studios in Burbank, California, we may also receive some details on related events in Mortal Kombat X’s future. This would come as little surprise with updated netcode on the horizon, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

To find out what the team has in store, tune into Twitch this Sunday, January 24 at 3:45 PM PST, 6:45 PM EST.

Mortal Kombat X Enhanced Netcode Beta Registration Now Open

Last week closed out with some excellent news for the online warriors of Mortal Kombat X: the game is getting new and improved netcode. While not exactly GGPO, as Ed Boon’s mysterious Tweet earlier last week hinted, it will be rollback-based and should, therefore, offer an improvement over the game’s current connection method.

Before dropping new code into the existing game, the folks at NetherRealm Studios have decided to hold a beta test to make sure everything runs as expected. While it will be open to the public, those looking to participate have to go through a signup process. This won’t guarantee a spot in the beta, but it never hurts to give it a shot.

Registration just went live, so head on over to the registration site and drop in your credentials if you’re looking to help improve the game. There’s no word on when this beta will begin, but invites are expected to start going out this week.
