Early Access to Killer Instinct’s Shadow Jago Begins December 4

Near the end of last month, the folks at Iron Galaxy Studios announced that they still had plans to add Jago’s possessed form to the playable Killer Instinct roster before the turn of the new year. Earlier today, they decided to show the fruits of their labor and confirm that, yes, the edgier version of the game’s protagonist is still on schedule for release this month.

Those looking to get their hands on the new character will be able to do so through purchase from December 18 until January 15; however, if you already snagged the swordsman through the Community Fund Bundle or the Xbox Live Day One Gold promotion, you’ll be able to slice up opponents on December 4.

Once the purchase window closes, Iron Galaxy states “there’s no promise that he will be available again,” so if you’re looking to own a complete roster of characters, don’t forget to grab him while you can. Pricing details are still forthcoming.

To see Shadow Jago in action, check out the trailer below.

Official Capcom Cup 2015 Bracket Released

Ultra Street Fighter IV competitors around the world have been throwing down all year in hopes of winning a prized position among the thirty-two players and cap off the tournament season at Capcom Cup 2015. Any chance to gain entry to this prestigious tournament as a competitor through participation in Capcom Pro Tour events drew to a close last weekend with the conclusion of Sweden’s DreamHack Winter 2015.

With just Capcom Cup itself left, the event’s official bracket landed on Challonge earlier today. If you’ve been curious who will be fighting whom in the first round, you can head over to the bracket and check it out.

Figuring out which competitors will walk away with two losses in this stacked lineup is undeniably difficult, and choosing just one to come out on top may be even more so. Feel free to let us know how you think things will break down in the comments.

Capcom Cup is set to take place this weekend in San Francisco, California.

Beefy Smash Doods Break Down Westballz’ Super Smash Bros. Melee Input Speed

Anyone who has played a fighting game knows that there are periods in which the amount of inputs being sent from the player to the game climb to incredible levels. In some titles, this number is more pronounced than others; typically speaking, the faster the game, the more inputs required to succeed.

With this in mind, it only makes sense that a game as quick as Super Smash Bros. Melee would see top players pumping out hundreds of inputs per minute. In a recent video, the Beefy Smash Doods team analyzed footage of Tempo Storm’s Westballz throwing down in some high-stakes matches to see just how fast his fingers go when controlling Falco.

While their final numbers likely run quite close to being spot-on, Melee does occasionally involve some hidden inputs which would be impossible to count solely from in-game footage. That said, Westballz is still alarmingly fast.

The team produced a similar video for Alliance’s Armada back in August, so be sure to check that out as well.

Jay Rego Analyzes Tokido and Fuudo’s Grand Finals Match at Canada Cup 2015

When watching high-level competition in Ultra Street Fighter IV, it’s easy to pick out the best plays as they unfold on the screen, but unless we slow things, there’s a good chance that the finer details may slip by unnoticed. This is especially true following moments of increased excitement that tend to happen when one player makes (or fails to make) a hard read on their opponent.

Luckily, Jay Rego has been taking the time to slow down high-stakes matches so viewers can watch each decision some of the world’s best players make as they make them. His latest breakdowns cover the first two games of the Canada Cup 2015 grand finals between Mad Catz’ Tokido and Fuudo of Razer.

For more videos of this nature, be sure to take a look at Rego’s breakdown of the Stunfest 2015 grand finals as well.

Deku Tree Explores Sheik’s Neutral Air to Bouncing Fish Combos in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

There’s no denying Sheik’s power in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, but even the (arguably) strongest character in the game isn’t without her shortcomings. Her biggest–and perhaps only–weaknesses include a general lack of reliable combo options above 100% or so, and difficulty finishing her plate. Once opponents make their way north of that figure, there’s a marked increase in the scramble-style of play that Sheiks often exhibit, a stark contrast to the perfectly-machined portion that usually takes place at the beginning of a stock.

This newest video from Deku Tree explores a way around both of these weaknesses by breaking down some information discovered and compiled by Tristan_win and Absol 359 earlier this year. In the video, Sheik players will learn to use a weak neutral air to set up a combo into her bouncing fish.

It’s important to note that this works for a fairly large range of percents and against a vast number of characters, though once outside of its sweet spot percentage range, it isn’t a true combo. However, having this option in your back pocket may be the best way to close out a set against an unsuspecting opponent.

Pick Up Some Item Toss Options for Pac-Man in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Dash item tossing and canceled item tossing work for many characters in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, offering massive ground coverage in the blink of an eye. This sort of technology is good to learn, but only sees play in competitive settings when characters who can create items are involved in the match. Peach has her turnips (as well as the rare bombs and Mr. Saturns), Diddy has his banana peel, Mega Man has his metal blade, and Pac-Man has…well, Pac-Man packs a copious amount of chuckable goodies. It’s sort of his thing.

Since each of these items act differently once the Namco rep sends them spiraling skyward, PEPESPAIN’s latest video will help aspiring key flingers make the most of every object.

On top of gaining some interesting stage presence while sliding around, Pac-Man can dole out massive damage and secure ridiculous kills by utilizing this technique. There are also plenty of setups to trap opponents, so check out the guide and see if you can pick up a thing or two.
