Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- Slash Series From Mikado Presents: Kazunoko, Kazuki, Maroshi, and Tourio

Mikado, the premiere arcade for Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- action in Japan, has been running new Slash Series exhibitions. Two recently broadcast sets featured famous players, including former SBO teammate and Evolution 2016 Top 8 player, GGP|Kazunoko.

The first set features a rising Kum Haehyun player, Maroshi, vs. Tourio, a top I-No player. As for the second set, it’s Kazunoko’s Raven against Kazuki’s Dizzy. Kazuki is a veteran Dizzy player returning to Xrd -REVELATOR-.

Once again, MajinObama provides English commentary for the FT7 matches. The audio is set up over dual speakers, so in order to hear just English, adjust the audio settings on your computer for the right speaker, and left speaker for Japanese.

Check out the top-level sets below, and look forward to a special event this weekend: on Sunday, there will be a special Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R tournament held in honor of Hellmonkey, who financially aided the channel and helped with equipment costs.

Tokyo Game Show Overviews BlazBlue: Central Fiction’s Mai Natsume’s Moveset

The hype train for the newest character in BlazBlue: Central Fiction continues, this time with a more detailed look at Mai Natsume from the Tokyo Game Show.

As previously seen, Mai’s Drive is a chargeable spear throw. The spear homes in on the opponent, coming back to hit them from behind. When fully charged, which requires Mai to be holding it still (not aiming up or down), it becomes unblockable.

What’s more interesting is that Mai has a control scheme that’s unique to BlazBlue. In place of traditional specials, she has two quarter-circle motions, back and forward, that initiate types of movement. From there, she can press any button to execute a special move. Her normal attacks are unique as well: they can be whiff-canceled to get different strikes.

Check out the video overview from TGS for a visual guide on how Mai works:

Check out How the Digital Figure Mode Works in the Upcoming Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- Patch

As promised right after the 2016 Evo Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- championship, a Digital Figure Mode is making its way to the Arc System Works game later this month. On September 30th, the mode will be available thanks to a free patch alongside some as yet unannounced balance changes.

In an introductory trailer, the company explains how the mode works. It functions like a diorama: it allows to set a scene between two characters in any background available from the game. The trailer shows off how flexible it’s going to be. For example, it’s possible to put Sol Badguy in his motorcycle from Story Mode and change his facial expressions and color. Naturally, the game allows to freely move the camera around in 3D and zoom in on the details. PlayStation 4 users can then take a screenshot and share it across social media by using the Share feature.

There’s also a contest tied to a #GGXrd_Photo hashtag that will run until October 10th.

Mai Natsume Showcased in the Latest BlazBlue: Central Fiction Reveal Trailer

Alongside Es, the second console-exclusive character in BlazBlue: Central Fiction is Mai Natsume: she first starred in manga, as well as Chrono Phantasma Extend’s Remix Heart mode. The new trailer below showcases the character in action, and teases a few story tidbits involving Relius Clover.

This spear-wielding fighter keeps the opponent at bay with her long range and a returning projectile; it looks like she’s able to rapidly close the gap for mix-up opportunities.

In Japan, Mai will be available as downloadable content on October 27th, priced at ¥800.

Is Rosalina the Best Character in Super Smash Bros. 4 for Wii U? ZeRo Explains

Team SoloMid’s ZeRo has been busy compiling his Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tier list after the 1.1.6 patch; his finished list crowns Rosalina as the top tier character, and he has made another video to explain his reasoning.

While the metagame has been shifting around a bit lately, according to ZeRo, it currently favors defensive play, and that’s favorable to Rosalina. She can nullify a lot of projectiles with Luma and her Gravitational Pull down-B, forcing the opponent to approach. She also has good pokes to keep the opponent at bay. Furthermore, her float introduces lots of advanced techniques that players keep finding. This also makes her neutral safer, since she isn’t as easy to combo as many other characters.

ZeRo also talks about her offensive options and close-quarter combat, and whether Meta Knight is an answer to her.

Check out the rest of ZeRo’s Smash 4 tier list in our previous article.

Mai Natsume Faces Es in This BlazBlue: Central Fiction Gameplay Clip

The robust cast of the upcoming BlazBlue: Central Fiction is rounded out by two console-exclusive characters, Mai Natsume and Es. Recently announced, Mai wields a spear which she uses for dynamic jump-ins, and a chargeable projectile that she can steer.

While information is still scarce about her, there’s captured footage of Mai’s fighting Es from an ArcLive stream. The clip shows a lot of her attacks and gameplay as well as her new stage and music.

While we’ll have to wait until the October 6th Japanese console release to properly play either of them, anyone who preordered BlazBlue: Central Fiction now has access to a playable demo. There is no word yet whether that will be the case for US or European preorders.

Excited for Mai and Es? Did you get your hands on the demo yet? Let us know in the comments below!

Trouble with Axl Low in Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-? Here Are Tips on How to Counter Him

Match-up knowledge is a great asset for any player in a fighting game, and when it comes to Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- mainstay Axl Low, it’s a key tool to increasing the odds. At first look, he seems like an unfair character. The time-traveling Brit doesn’t stop at having full-screen normals and specials; his arsenal includes a number of strong reversal attacks, an unblockable, and more.

Reddit user Satsuasdfg has been compiling “Counter Strategy” guides that explain characters’ tools and ways to deal with them. While they strongly recommend finding out specific punishes your main can use, they offer general tips on most of Axl’s repertoire.

For example, make sure to come up with a big punish on Axl’s dragon punch move, Benten. Since it doesn’t make Axl jump or move up closer, it’s sometimes difficult to step in for a bigger combo. As for Rensen, the green chain move with two follow-ups, air-dash YRC is a good way to beat out his options. Sol’s Bandit Bringer works great against it, and since the move has fairly long recovery, characters like Sin or Johnny can punish it fast with their own special moves.

FTG-Reversal Catalogs Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- Tweets and Videos for Every Character

Looking for the very latest tech in Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-? It’s hard to keep track of everything out there, as many people share videos across YouTube, Twitter, and other means. Now, there’s a website that has established hashtags for every character in the game and readily catalogs tweets and videos for easy viewing. The Japanese website FTG-Reversal is a portal to Guilty Gear knowledge.

The splash page has icons for every current character in the franchise; clicking those leads to a channel view that has tweets with the designated character’s hashtag. The list of hashtags is displayed on the left. Until recently, those hashtags were only in Japanese, but now, the website functions with English letterings, such as #GGXrd_SO for Sol Badguy or #GGXrd_KY for Ky Kiske. This makes it easier for players around the world to get sharing and pooling content together.

Clicking “Videos” at the top takes you to a section that has uploaded videos on Nico Nico, often listing what characters played in what match. Here’s a quick guide to what character is what in Katakana:
