My.com has sent out a brand new trailer for Revelation Online that spotlights the Vanguard class, complete with game play action. Most notably, however, My.com also announced that the first round of beta testing will kick off in October and that Founders’ Packs will come in a trio of varieties including Explorer (17.99), Founder (59.99) and Deluxe (89.99). Each will include closed beta access.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV is basically a 2 hour story trailer for the upcoming long-wanted Final Fantasy XV video game. We also all remember the last time Final Fantasy was a movie… and it didn’t go well. Leading up to the release of Final Fantasy XV, Square Enix created a full length feature film set in the new universe, and well, frankly… it’s pretty good.

Of Kings & Men Launches on Steam Early Access
Of Kings & Men, a collaborative effort between Green Man Gaming, Northern Ireland Screen and Donkey Crew, has been released on Steam Early Access. The game features medieval game play and combat with battles between up to two hundred players at once. Of Kings & Men has been developed using Donkey Crew’s proprietary ‘bespoke’ engine.

Edge Case Games has announced that Fractured Space will be emerging from Early Access and straight into beta beginning September 15, 2016. More information about the beta launch will be provided during next weekend’s PAX West in Seattle.
Black Desert Online – Awakenings Coming Every 2 Weeks, All Released by Year’s End
The Black Desert Online forum has been updated with a new post about the forthcoming release window for all class Awakenings. The first, the Warrior, will take place on August 31st, followed by the Sorceress two weeks later. The interval between will allow the development team to address any potential balance issues and to ensure that updates fire off without a hitch.
Dark and Light – Buy to Play or Pay to Play, That is the Question
Conflicting information about the Dark & Light revenue model has emerged. 2P.com has reported that Snail Games representatives tweeted that the game would be “p2p game” indicating that it would run via subscription. However, another representative named “Horsejoke” wrote in the Dark & Light Discord channel that “you can consider PC (version) B2P confirmed” seemingly indicating that it would require a one-time purchase.

MMOs have been around for a long time and have morphed and changed over the decades now as we enter 2017. We’re in a period which I would consider the second era of MMOs with Ultima Online for all intents and purposes kickstarting the genre back in 1997. Games began simple and expanded over time, breaking off into sub genres, independent projects, and huge AAA titles. But we’re going back to the drawing board…
