General: Fable Legends PAX East Hands-On Preview
Prior to arriving at PAX East, I’d heard of Fable Legends, but I honestly didn’t pay too much attention to it. I’m a fan of the Fable IP, but I haven’t really been grabbed by anything to come from it since the series’ debut (on PC) back in 2005. I had no expectations for the game when we arrived at the Microsoft booth to take some footage of the free-to-play title, but once I got to the booth I just had to get my hands on it.

I spent my weekend with the wonderful community team from Kingsisle Entertainment (they work on Wizard101 and Pirate101) as they slowly walked up and down the aisles of the SXSW Gaming Expo. It is a free event (a good offset to the astronomical ticket prices that SXSW can often ask) and allows indie or smaller games to hook up with potential players. It also shows off new technologies, trends and even hosted video game museums with hands-on consoles. It was a blast, to say the least.

Guild Wars 2: Today’s Update Includes First Person Camera & More!
Today’s Guild Wars 2 update notes have been released with the welcomed surprise that the first-person view camera is now part of the game. Also, the WvW map requirement for the World Completion achievement has been removed and a new streaming client notification system has been implemented.
General: RUMOR: Lay Offs Hit Perfect World
According to a Twitter post sent to us, there are unconfirmed rumors of lay offs affecting employees of Perfect World Entertainment. We do not know if this is internationally-based or US-based yet and we do not yet know which games and teams have been hit. We will keep you posted as the story develops.
General: Lineage Eternal – GW2 Expansion Figure in NCSoft’s Future
Investment firm, Daewoo, has published its buyers’ prospectus for NCSoft. In it, several scenarios are presented for potential investors that project data on how NCSoft can remain solvent and avoid any corporate takeover by Nexon. Both Lineage Eternal and the Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns expansion come into play as major components of NCSoft’s success or failure this year.
General: Orcs Must Die: Unchained – New Build Will Make a Difference
Orcs Must Die: Unchained has been in beta for a while, and the developers at Robot recently unveiled a new build that will kick off phase two of the beta beginning on March 24th. The new build features hero overhauls, new systems, UI improvements, and more, and was playable at PAX East.
