When people talk about their experiences gaming online, especially in MMORPGs, it can often feel overwhelmingly negative. It’s not uncommon to hear that MMOs are irrelevant, too expensive, cash grabs, superficial, and at worst, have ‘communities’ in name only, full of either apathy or trolling. Take your pick. Yet, while the genre has seen shifts over time, there is still something about MMORPGs that remains unique, and brings out the best in online community.
General: The Best MMOs with Sailing
Now that the bold new year of 2015 is upon us and we’re striking out into unknown territory, I felt like it was only appropriate that we take a look at MMOs that let you embark on grand voyages of your own. When doing research for this list, I noticed that there are shockingly few MMOs with robust sea-based content. As a result, some of the games on this list feature sailing as an extra feature, while some of the games have sea adventures as the primary gameplay mechanic.

Shroud of the Avatar is arguably one of the most-anticipated MMOS of 2015, and with developer Portarlarium is hoping to keep it that way by promoting the game at the upcoming CES event in Las Vegas. Among other things, the company will be showing new screens of environments like Wyrmsands, Dragon Pass and Shardfall Biome.
