Everyone has a fighting chance
Over six million players have taken part in Dauntless since launch on May 21st. During their game time, players have completed 20M hunts, logged over 15M hours played and over 60% of the hunting parties consisted of cross-platform groups banding together. 13M Behemoths have been taken down and Ramsgate’s two doggos were “petted an incalculable number of times”.
The latest challenge activity for Red Dead Online is the Wild Animal Kills Challenge that awards players points based on the size of the animal and can even include extra points for “prized” and “dangerous” predators. As the focus is squarely on the hunt itself, PvP activities are disabled during the Free Roam Event.
Cowpokes playing Outlaws of the Old West will enjoy the largest update so far that bring both farming and homesteading into the game. Players will be able to customize objects around the town and will be able to engage in a number of farming activities such as churning butter and many others.

League of Legends players have from now until August 28th to claim the first Rift Herald’s Capsule that contains a in-game items totalling nearly $900. The Herald’s Capsule contains two random Skin Shards, one random Legendary Skin Shard, and an exclusive emote. Once the first container is claimed, three more will arrive at 30-day intervals: the Red Buff’s Capsule, Blue Buff’s Capsule and a Baron’s Capsule.
A ruined city, a strong female lead, rogue-like elements, and a crafting system – what more can one ask for? Vambrace: Cold Soul, developed and published by Devespresso Games and Headup, respectively, has all of this and more in this new release. Side-scrolling, rogue-like games have generally been welcome, if hit-or-miss, but does Vambrace: Cold Soul swing for the fences or strike out?
Wild West Online has kept its old timey roots but has added dinosaurs, alien technology and steampunk walking robots as part of its rebranded game “New Frontier”. While many of the original components (survival open world sandbox game centered on building and crafting) remain, “magical storms” have torn open holes in the space – time continuum to bring “creatures from another dimension”. The cover photo for the “new” game includes alien tech and a gigantic mech. We’re flabbergasted too.
Invasion has officially launched into EVE Online. The latest content expansion brings a new storyline into the game starting with the first chapter of the Triglavian story “plunging New Eden into chaos”. Players will have to “meet the threat head-on” as they battle enemy ships with “escalating consequences” while earning some of the game’s newest rewards.
The most recent patch to the Torchlight Frontiers Alpha fixes what could likely be the biggest problem I’ve had with the Action RPG MMO – character progression. While it’s still a work in progress (it is Alpha), the new and more traditional skill trees and levels prove that Torchlight Frontiers doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel to make an impact.
Now that the breakup with Activision is complete, Bungie is looking ahead to “a new era” for Destiny 2. While there are literally no details about what that might mean, Bungie has promised to provide more details in the future. Right now, the focus is on Season of Opulence and the awarding of Raid belts, but plans are seemingly already in motion.
