KurtzPel hasn’t been in Early Access for much more than a week, but it’s been a rough one with a number of issues involving accusations of pay-to-win mechanics across a number of items that were being sold for premium currency. Niantic has published a very cool new blog called “Making Strides for a More Sustainable Future”. In it, the company reveals that 17,000 Pokemon Go players volunteered over 41,000 hours and were instrumental in the collection and removal of 145 TONS of trash throughout the world. The efforts were made in cooperation with forty-six non-governmental agencies throughout the globe to bring “together community members, players, and sustainability efforts for a better world”.
Earlier this week Blizzard opened up Nazjatar for testing on the PTR, and since it is another big piece of content coming with 8.2 I wanted to take some time to talk about it. Firstly, much like my post about the Heart of Azeroth changes I’m not going to discuss the story aspects of Nazjatar. I’m mostly focused on how being in the zone feels and if the new elements it brings will help everything stay fresher than it is currently.
On May 28th, EVE Online will be expanding again when “Invasion” launches. As the name implies, capsuleers will be facing off against the rising threat of the Triglavian as its forces come to bear. In addition, players will find “new visuals, new content and new system-wide effects” coming as part of the Invasion expansion.
Epic Games is proving that nothing is safe in Fortnite after last night’s destruction of Tilted Towers. The volcano that has been active since Season 8. It’s eruption not only took out the popular Tilted Towers location but also damaged Retail Row, Greasy Grove and Polar Peak. All this comes just days ahead of the start of Season 9 on May 9th.
For Honor players can celebrate Star Wars Day today with a surprise event that features lightsabers. During the event, all weapons including axes, swords and polearms will be turned into lightsabers.
Those looking for MMO action on the go may be interested in the upcoming release of Talion. The game will be coming out on May 28th from developer Gamevil and is said to feature “massive 20 vs 20 battles throughout a vast and expansive open world”. Interested players can pre-register in order to receive some free goodies once the game launches.
Contrary to reports last month that Disney may have expressed interested in buying Nexon, a second report from South Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo calls that into question. An official “well-versed in the sale of Nexon” told the publication that, while Kim Jung-ju had approached Disney officials, the offer was refused. According to the article, Kim Jung-ju may also be interested in approaching other Western companies including Amazon.
