After reaching out to Daum about the costume prices in the Black Desert Online shop, the team has responded. Overall costume prices will be reduced ~10% from $32 to $29. Costume sales will continue throughout the head start period and into launch with the development team keeping a close eye on community reaction and will assess feedback received.

With the Black Desert Online head start program ready to kick off this weekend, and with launch coming early next week, Daum has announced that the game client is ready for download.

Crafting in Black Desert Online can be an intimidating and complicated affair. In most recent MMORPGs players collect 100 of x and 100 of y then go AFK while they combine materials and come back an hour later at the new crafting cap. This does not hold true for BDO. In BDO crafting is separated into collecting, processing, and finally crafting. A slightly more complicated affair than what some are used to.

The recent buzz surrounding Black Desert Online these past few weeks hasn’t been all that positive. There’s been a fervent argument back and forth about it being pay-to-win, not having any relevant endgame, and even a vocal minority still attacking it for not being free-to-play. All of those are conversations worth having, but after several dozen hours spent playing Black Desert Online, its biggest problem isn’t any one of those issues.

Daum has published a new in-house interview with questions gleaned from the Black Desert Online community. Questions range across a wide variety of topic, most of which would be additions or alterations after the official launch of BDO next week.

With the closed beta behind it, Daum has announced a trio of ways for players to blast off into launch of Black Desert Online. Contest include uploading a BDO music video using the game score; taking a selfie of a character on any type of mount; and a screenshot with guild mates. Prizes range from limited edition Black Spirit statues, t-shirts to in-game items.

Daum has announced that IP blocks will be put in place for the Korean version of Black Desert Online with the release of the North American and European version of the game on March 3rd.

There is no question that closed beta two has ignited the Black Desert Online community in a variety of ways. On the one hand, there are those who have found a game they can see themselves playing for a good long while. On the other, there are those bemoaning the fact that BDO seems not to have fulfilled the dream of “the next great MMO”. On the united front, the BDO Cash Shop has come under fire from all sides.
