Everyone has a fighting chance
The Mediah quest line in Black Desert Online has been reworked to improve the quality of the story with most quests being rewritten from the ground up. The updated quests provide players with alternative viewpoints on the history and relationships in the game. Throughout the quests, players will “experience the consequences of pivotal moments in Mediah’s history” and will choose between two factions.
On June 5th, high-end Black Desert Online players will be able to take part in the Star’s End quest line that will yield the new legendary Blackstar weapon. Blackstar weapons are considered the “pinnacle of power” for players. The questline takes players to a new location called Star’s End where players work to gather materials needed to forge the weapon.
Black Desert Online has brought the latest event on board this week. Called the Starry Night, it challenges players to participate in an array of in-game events to collect Moon and Star Shards that can either be combined to create the 300,000 Silver Luminous Token or can be sold individually for 100,000 Silver each.
Kakao Games and Pearl Abyss have announced that the Underwater Ruins content expansion for Black Desert Online will go live on May 22nd. Players will be able to dive into the new content in water-themed locations “to face off against some of the fiercest enemies in the game”. Players will embark on a boat to check out two adventure zones: the Protty Cave and the Sycraia Ruins. The Sycrid is a new summonable field boss as well.
Starting May 9th, Xbox Game Pass owners will be able to check out Black Desert. Game Pass members will receive a 20% discount on all editions of the game (Standard, Deluxe or Ultimate) Black Desert as well as a 10% discount on all consumables.
Black Desert Online players will have the opportunity to unleash Doom if they can awaken a Tier 8 Level 30 courser using the Krogdalo’s Origin Stone. Doom is a fiery Dream Horse featuring a Dark Sprint that leaves a trail of fire as it gallops through the world and can burn enemies on the field of battle. To help players earn Doom, players can leverage the 100% EXP boost for mount/training. This boost begins today and runs through May 15th.
Pearl Abyss has released a new roadmap that will bring “a host of new content and activities” to Black Desert Online over the course of the next few months. Throughout Q2 2019, players can look forward to new areas to explore, new weapons and mounts and “a brand new PvE experience that will enthrall the community as a whole”.
According to a press announcement from Pearl Abyss, the company has raked in over $1B in gross sales of Black Desert Online in just under four years. In addition, Pearl Abyss CEO Robin Jung also reported that over 10M players from 150 countries had played Black Desert across PC, XBox One and mobile.
The Black Desert Online site has been updated with a note from the developers to let players know that the Shadow Arena, BDO’s take on Battle Royale, will be going the way of the world later this week. The post indicates that the development needs of that particular modeh were taking away from the development of the larger MMO alongside “the rise of 3rd party software” causing issues with hacking.
Black Desert on XBox has been updated to bring four new classes to players: Dark Knight, Lahn, Musa and Striker. In addition, both Node Wars and Conquest Wars have been released into the console client to provide players with large-scale PvP activities.
