Everyone has a fighting chance
Yesterday, QC Games raised a few eyebrows with the announcement that it would be migrating Dauntless to the Epic Games launcher and that the Epic Store would be the exclusive PC platform. After learning that the process to migrate to Epic, players expressed concerns that player information was being shared with Epic without their consent. However, this is not the case and QC Games have some clarification to offer to players.
Phoenix Labs has announced that players will soon be able to start managing their Dauntless account through the Epic Games Store. The process of migrating account information will start soon and it is the first step “towards Phoenix Labs’ vision for One Dauntless, a true cross-play experience that will unite players across PC, XBox One and PlayStation 4 in April and on mobile and Switch later in 2019”.
The Dauntless site has been updated with a preview of Hunt Pass Season 2 that brings some romantic rewards into the game alongside platinum bundles. There are two tracks players can pursue, the Basic track and the 1,000 platinum Elite track. Each does, however, offer players fifty levels of activities to pursue.
Dauntless has been update to bring a brand new challenge to players. Scorchstone Hellion is a new Dire Behemoth that is “burning it up in the Maelstrom” with it command of lava. In addition, players will find new ways to customize their characters thanks to the addition of new curly hairstyles as well as new customization slides. Players can check out the full changes by “interacting with the mirror in Ramsgate Plaza”.
Dauntless will become a truly cross-platform title when it launches on consoles in 2019. The PlayStation 4 and XBox One versions of “One Dauntless” are expected to launch in April 2019, with Switch and mobile launch dates coming alone later in 2019. The announcement was made during this evening’s Game Awards 2018 along with the news that Dauntless will be launching on the Epic Games store platform.
Dauntless players are invited to check into the game to experience the first-ever Dark Harvest Halloween event and to take on the game’s newest behemoth, the Riftstalker.
Beginning October 17th and continuing through November 1st, Dauntless players will be able to take part in the Dark Harvest that will “cast the hub city of Ramsgate into night” while a new cult called the Unseen makes its appearance. New cosmetic items will be introduced to the in-game store starting October 19th and players will be able to face off against an event Behemoth that is “stalking the Shattered Isles”.
Thanks to the latest update to Dauntless, players can now check out the brand new Ostian Repeaters ranged weapons. In addition, devs are preparing players for the Dark Harvest, “an expansive new Halloween-themed in-game event” that also introduces a new Behemoth that will kick off on October 17th.
The Dauntless site has been updated with a blog post to let players know that the Repeater type of weapon is coming to the game on October 3rd. Players will be able to mix and match grip, chamber, barrel and prism parts to customize their Repeater. To get the first set of Repeaters, players will need to “reach the Monstrous Verge and defeat a Shrike”.
When Dauntless is updated this week, players will have a new vendor to visit, a shadowy salesman named the Middleman in Ramsgate. Middleman provides players with up to three new cells per week that can be purchased using aetherdust. This is a new currency obtained by breaking down unwanted cells. The available stock of cells changes weekly.
