Zenimax Online Studios seems to have adopted a unique way to release content, a way that has some of the community upset and calling the content "unfinished". Is it really unfinished content or is Zenimax releasing their content in a way that will keep players interested and engaged?
Today’s column is a list geared toward you, the returning player who might be stepping back into what seems like familiar territory only to land in a city and find yourself at the mercy of the guards within the first five minutes. Or not. But for those returning to ESO, here are a few quick things to keep in mind.
In a surprise move, Zenimax has announced that Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimted, the ‘buy to play’ version of the game, is now live nearly a day earlier than anticipated. The word is out that the North American megaserver IS online and players can begin updating their clients in order to log in to check out the big changes that the update brings.
With Tamriel Unlimited releasing next week, I thought now would be an excellent time discuss some of the addons that I feel new and old players of ESO should be using. There are hundreds of different addons for ESO but for this column I’m going to focus on five quality of life addons, helping to increase your gaming experience.
We’ve arrived at the release of the packed update 6 to The Elder Scrolls Online before it becomes subscription-optional. This means the road of consistent updates and major content releases that isn’t DLC has reached its end. Aside from tweaks to existing systems and completion of the implementation of others that began with this update, we simply await the conversion and possibly the console versions before we know what else we might see first down the line.
The massive 1.6.5 update has been applied to the Elder Scrolls Online servers and the game is back up and running. The patch brings several updated features and systems online as well as lays the groundwork for the March 17th update that will bring Tamriel Unlimited, the buy-to-play version of ESO, online. Tamriel Unlimited is slated for a March 17th deployment.
The MMO community is a weird one. We demand that games take a chance and do something new and innovative, yet we get upset when those new things aren’t what we’re used to. The Elder Scrolls Online received a lot of this attention even before the game was being released. ESO’s User Interface (UI) is minimalist. If you asked me my opinions of it two years ago, I would have told you it sucked.
Next month, Elder Scrolls Online officially adopts a hybrid revenue system that will include the moniker "Tamriel Unlimited". We caught up to the ESO team to ask a few questions about the upcoming changes and what it means for players.
Elder Scrolls Online players who have been playing for the past nine months have a new loyalty reward to look forward to in the form of the Mask of Cheerful Slaughter. Those subscribing for 300 days can score the Striped Senche. Check out the video below to see what these items look like and more.

When the switch was announced, and the buy to play option with future DLC (included for subscribers or available for purchase) made known, there were still some pressing questions left with regards to just what this might entail.
