CCP Games is opening up the universe to past, present and future EVE Online players by implementing “clone states”, a free-to-play version of the game. The new revenue model will allow players to take part for free forever and will arrive as part of the November 2016 update. This big news comes after thirteen years of EVE Online.

EVE Online players have scored another first with the destruction of Project Mayhem’s Keepstar citadel earlier today. A video replay of the event has been posted that is a definite must-see for fans of EVE Online.

CCP has announced that EVE Online will be free to play through August 21st. Players can download the Steam client and play without limitations throughout the weekend. The account can be brand new or any players whose accounts have been inactive (if created after May 2013) can reactivate them for this special weekend.

The EVE Online team has posted a brand new video showing off the immense size of the game’s version of “player housing”, though not like any home most have encountered. Citadels are literally floating cities as this video shows when comparing one (and not even the biggest one!) to Manhattan. See what you think in the video below!

The preliminary patch notes for the EVE Online updated scheduled for August 9th have been released on the game’s official site. The Contracts system will be going live in this update which will allow players to exchange goods and auction items from within the Citadels.

A new event has gone live in EVE Online called the Shadow of the Serpent. During the event, players will be investigating a new type of capital ships being built in the Serpentis region. During battle, players will be able to grab Serpentis pirate salvage that can yield Serpentis-themed ships, skins and implants.

CCP Games has released an interesting video that compares the size of the smallest of the three citadels, EVE Online’s ‘cities in the sky’, to the Empire State Building. It’s an impressive look at an impressive ship. Check it out!
