Amazing Skullgirls 2nd Encore Combo Video Parodies the “Rhythm Heaven” Series

Combo videos for fighting games are commonplace, and there isn’t any shortage of players trying to put their own spin on the notion. Themed combo videos are always neat, but what we have here today is something particularly neat: this video takes heavy inspiration from Nintendo’s popular Rhythm Heaven series, creating something that’s almost unrecognizable as a combo video.

The video’s creator, Salty Noob, has some other interesting content on his channel as well, such as narrative combo videos.

Stomp On Foes for Footstool Combos Straight Out of Shield, Courtesy of the Beefy Smash Doods

As popularized by Kamemushi’s devastating footstool combos with Megaman, footstooling someone out of shield can be a fantastic way to punish landing opponents. While it’s not for every character and you can’t expect to just footstool someone every time they land a hit on shield, knowing the correct situation for a footstool out of shield could be the difference between resetting to neutral or taking a stock.

Using Megaman, cFive from the Beefy Smash Doods take viewers through the step by step process of when a footstool out of shield would be a prime punish. In this case, they show how a shielding Megaman could successfully footstool a Sheik who had just landed a miss-spaced forward-air on shield, in order to lead into a Metal Blade kill combo. The amount of variables going into this one interaction shows just how situational a footstool out of shield is–but with fast enough reactions and a misspaced move, it can net you an easy kill.

Following the initial example, cFive then explores how perfect shielding a move can actually make a footstool punish easier to pull off, before finally showing off some setups with characters like R.O.B., Bowser Jr., Diddy Kong, and Ganondorf. A whole lot of information to digest–but if mastered, the footstool out of shield can do serious damage.

Hear What Pro Players and Invited Guests Thought about Kuwait Battle Royale 2016 in This Short Documentary

Home to the Middle East’s first and largest fighting game event, this year’s Kuwait Battle Royale saw pro players and special guests from all communities come together to experience what the Kuwaiti FGC had to offer. While they were all in town–either competing, spectating or commentating the event–tournament hosts Fikra sat down with many of the visiting community members to get their thoughts on Kuwait, its gaming scene, and the event itself.

The overwhelming response from those interviewed shows just how passionate and welcoming the Kuwaiti community was: with many praising their hospitality, along with the zeal of the competitors and cosplayers who attended the event. As Kuwait Battle Royale was twinned with GX, a general gaming expo held in Kuwait, this gave the whole tournament a much busier atmosphere and showed just how dedicated the general gaming scene is in Kuwait.

Hopefully, the positive response of all those interviewed has shown Kuwait as a potential destination for any traveling tournament attendee. Here’s hoping Kuwait Battle Royale 2017 is even bigger.

Players, Start Your (Feng Shui) Engines! Useful Juri V-Trigger Combos for Street Fighter V

YouTube user VesperArcade recently gave use some videos showing off Juri’s bread ‘n’ butter combos. This time, he brings us combos that she can do perform when her V-Trigger, Feng Shui Engine Type Alpha, is activated–giving Juri access to Fuharenkyaku specials without having to store them, and gaining the ability to cancel normals you wouldn’t normally be able to. VesperArcade breaks down which normals and specials can be cancelled into the V-Trigger, as well as various links to extend combos for further damage.

One interesting aspect about this combo video: VesperArcade shows which V-Trigger combos to use effectively–ones that consume precious V-Gauge meter, as well as ones that don’t consume too much and can be ended with EX or non-EX specials instead. This will give Juri users ideas of how to balance her damage-dealing resources and her mix-up game to open up their opponents.

Bandai Namco Addresses Tekken X Street Fighter Status & Possible New Tekken 7: Fated Retribution Characters

Bandai Namco Brand Manager Mark Religioso recently spoke about his company’s decision to focus on fleshing out Tekken 7: Fated Retribution’s story mode; in the full Dualshockers interview below, Religioso speaks optimistically about the forthcoming console release of the latest Tekken title and how his company has been “fine tuning the game” during the time it has been available in Japan’s arcades. He regrettably informs viewers that the development of Tekken X Street Fighter is officially on hold, noting that with their focus being on Fated Retribution, it wouldn’t be the “best time” to release the long-awaited crossover. Back on the positive side, he teases that there will be even more new characters joining the game’s roster, and that there should be an announcement regarding that soon.

Take a Look at Pop Culture Shock’s New Street Fighter Figures from San Diego Comic-Con

Pop Culture Shock always delivers the goods when it comes to high quality Street Fighter statues and figures; these latest shots captured by Toy News International are from PCS’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con, and they include the first look at some of the toy company’s 1:6 scale figures. Though they have covered a good number of World Warriors already, these latest models include a render of Alex, a Chun-Li sporting her pink alternate, M. Bison showing off his psycho power and–most unexpectedly–a battle-ready Oni. We also see a 1:12 scale Ryu in his blue gi performing a perfect Tatsu, as well as some more angles of the previously revealed Ken and Akuma statues. Check out the full gallery below for a good eyeful of what’s to come.

From ZeRo to Hero: Training Tips for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

What are some good ways to make sure time spent in training mode is efficient? In this video, ZeRo recommends a few methods to improve in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U–in general, he says it’s good to spend at least 30 minutes to an hour in training mode daily.

He emphasizes studying movement as a way to get better at the game: “Once you make sure your movement is perfect, your eye and your brain are as coordinated as possible, you’ll notice that you’ll only be focusing on the opponent, and that’s what you should be doing,” he says, in the video below.

Check out the full clip to learn more about how to utilize the CPU effectively for training, as well as how to approach tournament play.

Pick Up Byakuya and Chaos with These Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late Beginner Guides

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late recently appeared on Steam, giving a fresh set of players an opportunity to try out the game. Reignited interest can also coincide with trying out new characters.

Crimefighter recently put together two video character guides. They’re intended for players who are at least a little bit familiar with UNIEL terminology and notation.

“If you are new to UNIEL, Byakuya is an easy character to pick up, he’s got good damage, decent mix-up options, good neutral, and fun movement,” Crimefighter writes in the video description. “His execution is relatively low, not the easiest in the game, but pretty darn easy.”

The video explains what normal moves work at certain ranges and the properties of his special moves.

His second guide covers Chaos, a character who fights alongside a summonable lizard.

For a more basic introduction, Crimefighter wrote up a UNIEL Steam guide that covers fundamental mechanics of the game.
