Fenrich Talks About His Views on BlazBlue Central Fiction

Famitsu posted an interview with top Japanese BlazBlue Central Fiction players, Fumi and Fenrich.

Fenrich, who plays Jin, is currently the number-one-ranked player in the arcades. The interview (translated by HiagoXYZ) talks about how Fenrich got started in BlazBlue and what his thoughts are on one of the new mechanics, Active Flow. Fenrich also talks about playing against his brother’s Ragna, the aspects of his gameplay that he’s working on, how to improve in BBCF, and his thoughts on which characters are strong.

Catching up on Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- 1.03 Changes, Gameplay and Patch Summary

Dust is slowly setting after the post-Evo 2016 Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- patch, which overhauled the balance in the game mainly by nerfing the top characters, Sin Kiske, Johnny, and Elphelt Valentine. Many characters have seen slight tune-ups and a few, notably Jam, received a lot of buffs. The patch also introduced Dizzy.

Niconico streamed an Arc System Works Post-Evo Festival, which showcased top Japanese talent playing with the balance patch applied (which is hitting Japanese arcades August 4th).

The video shows Machabo, Omito, Rion, and Nakamura experiencing the patch changes. Notably, Machabo starts considering playing Ky Kiske again.

American player Oso created a humorous “visual” patch notes video, which doesn’t showcase every single change that’s taken place, but provides useful examples of new things.

Refer to the full list of patch notes here.

Get Your (Juri) Han’s Dirty With These S.I.N.ful Street Fighter V Combos

With Juri having officially released, even getting a nifty introduction video to go along with her release, fans are at a fever pitch with excitement and giddiness. Between the form fitting spandex, the spine-defying poses, and the sadistic innuendos, there’s a lot to love. One fan, Ray Ishima, took to making a combo video showing off some of her practical and impractical combos.

Another long time Combo crafter, Desk, also tries his hands at a combo video, heavily featuring Juri’s V-Trigger.

If you want more of Juri, there was a roundup of tech earlier this month, as well as a useful V-Trigger guide. With all this tech already available, this Spider-like spandex-sporting sadist seems like a real force to be reckoned with, if a bit frail. Whether or not you win with her seems like it’ll all be in the Feng Shui you use her.

Put Safe and Simple Pressure on Your Opponent’s Wake Up with This Juri Okizeme

Juri might only be a few (official) hours old, but there are already plenty of ideas floating about what she can do. One of them is maximizing the damage that she gets when she gets a knock down – a key part of any character in Street Fighter V – by making use of her fireballs to leave the opponent in an awkward situation. Juri might not be able to kick an opponent while they’re down – although I’m sure she’d make the attempt – but she can certainly make it a lot easier to kick them again once they’re back on their feet.

By using her fireball in combination with her V-Skill, which is already proving remarkably flexible, Juri can leave the opponent in a 50-50 situation whether they quick rise or not. From there it’s just a matter of choosing which of her myriad options to make use of to put the opponent back on the ground and, hopefully, back in the mix-up situation. Check out the video below by Matthew Flores for more information, and to find out just how to make use of it in your own game.

Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator Glitch Leaves Dizzy’s Fish Frozen on Screen

Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator’s newest character, the returning veteran Dizzy, released last week on July 18, to much fanfare, after winning a character poll last year. As players all over the world have been searching for any and all tech they can find, a strange glitch has also been discovered.

Dubbed “Fish Install,” if a player grabs during a small window of either version of her ice fish move, “We talked a lot together,” before it hits the opponent with its lunging animation, the fish will become stuck in place, losing both its hitbox and its hurtbox, rendering it nothing more than frozen graphics filling up the screen–unless a new fish is summoned and hits within the same area, at which time the old fish will take on the properties of the newly-summoned one. The P version hits three times in front of Dizzy, but does not track the opponent, whereas the K version will track horizontally before hitting twice.

You can see a pair of videos showing off the glitch below, courtesy of ImperiousGent and yoefu02, as well as some Tweets explaining more about how this works.

With Patch 1.04 scheduled for a Fall 2016 release, hopefully Arc System Works can patch this out as they add the new Digital Figure Mode.

Vicariously Experience the Trip to Evo 2016

Gearing up for a big event is a special time. From packing to the airport to arriving at a still and subdued venue, there is nothing quite like it in Fighting Games. This moment, of course, followed by an explosive weekend of exciting matches, great friends, heart pumping upsets, and stadium shaking cheers. This moment has often been felt, though occasionally it’s shown.

One Evo attendee chronicled his trip this year, his first Evo on his way from Hawaii. The video is perfect, and captures the spirit and thrill of everything that makes trips to events so special.

Feast Your Eyes on This New Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Footage

Dragon Ball Xenoverse was one of the best Dragon Ball games in a long time, channeling the spirit of the Budokai games into something loads of fun and nostalgic. And, if this new footage is anything to go by Bandai Namco and Dimps – yes, the very same Dimps that made Street Fighter 4 and V – have their eyes set on making it even better with the sequel.

Much like in the first Xenoverse, you’ll be able to create your own character to step into the DBZ universe and will be able to choose and change how they fight throughout the game. From the looks of the video below, you’ll be revisiting iconic scenes from the anime and manga, and getting involved in 3D battles that shift freely between the ground and sky. Check out the footage below for a taste of what’s to come when the game drops in October.

Feast Your Eyes on The Best Super Smash Bros 64 Combos You Can Get at Super Smash Con 2016

As a community, Smash Brothers has never done a particularly good job of letting go of the older games in the series. Super Smash Bros. Melee broke all sorts of records at Evo 2016, and as we head into Super Smash Con, another major event on the Smash calendar, some of the lesser loved games are getting their chance at the spotlight. One of those will be the granddaddy of them all, Super Smash Bros. 64, the very first incarnation of the series.

Not content with – already – breaking all attendance records for a Smash 64 tournament with more than 300 attendees registered, Super Smash Con has announced that it will be kicking off the event with a 64 Combo Contest. With some of the best and brightest talent in the scene already signed up and more than ready to strut their stuff, there’s little doubt that it is going to be an unforgettable event.

But why Smash 64? Well, thanks to the higher hitstun present in the game, Smash 64 allows for much more intricate and extended combos than later installments, which has led to a neutral heavy style of play that is frequently punctuated by long strings that end in death. Without having to worry about landing that first hit, players will be able to be much more creative and showy, which should go a long way to putting on a great show to kick off Super Smash Con, which will be running from August 11 to 14, and will feature tournaments for Super Smash Bros 64, Melee, Brawl and 4, alongside other events and panels focused on Smash Bros.

Desk Takes Street Fighter V’s Juri out for a Spin in His Latest Combo Video

Juri is now officially out in Street Fighter V and alot of players are now figuring out what her final release version is capable of. One of those is none other than combo video genius Desk who spins some delicious combos with her in his latest video.

The video below makes generous use of Juri’s unique tools, including her stored specials as well as her Feng Shui Engine alpha V-Trigger that allows her to chain her normals together.  These include some unique juggles that are possible only when specific specials are stored as well as an interesting use of her V-Reversal as a pseudo-OTG against a downed opponent.
