Dead or Alive 5 Last Round to Add Costumes Based On Characters from Fairy Tail Anime

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is no stranger to collaborative costume packs. To add to the growing list of such costumes, a recent issue of Weekly Famitsu Magazine has given fans their first look at DOA’s most recent crossover.

This time the characters of Dead or Alive are going to be graced with costumes based on the Fairy Tail anime and manga series.

The magazine stated that the newest batch of DLC will be available sometime this month. There are a ton of characters within the Fairy Tail universe, so it will be interesting to see which ones get the DOA costume treatment.

Fairy Tail was created by Hiro Mashima, who is also the creator of the Rave Master anime and manga series. Fairy Tail is currently being serialized within Weekly Shonen Magazine with a new anime series “in the works.”

Learn How to Turn May’s Mixups into a Touch of Death in Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-

May has always been a heavy hitter. It’s built into her character design: easily lugging around an anchor that rivals her size. However, in Xrd, she has been given a slew of new mixup tools that make her pressure much more complex and difficult to block. May can set a hoop, release a dolphin from it, and ride the dolphin—this is old news. The newer mixup comes from the fact that she can then cancel this dolphin ride into an air normal and maintain the extreme forward momentum. This creates a devastating 50/50 mixup based on whether she chooses to hit high or land and hit low.

Now a player (Ice Cube) has turned this concept into a 100% combo off the 50/50 mixup. It requires the small amount of guard gauge from the few blocked normals beforehand, as well as 100% tension and burst meter.

High hit using j.H (jumping Heavy slash):

Low hit, faking out with j.2H (jumping down+Heavy Slash):

If you’re cornered against May, it’s likely you’ve already taken some damage, and therefore the guard gauge may not be necessary–maybe not even the second overdrive. But who doesn’t love finishing an opponent with the whale super?

Watch FujiONE’s Televised Japanese Pokkén Tournament feat. Sako, GO-1, Azazel, and More

“Lipso Saturday Night Fight,” an eSports program in Japan, recently ran an 8-player invitational event for Pokkén Tournament. Airing on the sports/variety station FujiONE, the tournament featured strong players from across Japan, including:

Saku (Shadow Mewtwo), tonosama (Braixen), Shiruo (Charizard), GO1 (Shadow Mewtwo), crowd (Pikachu Libre), Azazel (Machamp), Iibuu (Blaziken), Sako (Gengar)

There’s no chaff among these eight (as far as we can see–Saku vs. Tonosama was played off stream before they went live) each fight is an uphill battle for both sides. Of particular note is the down-to-the-wire grand finals, the neck and neck score for which is settled in an explosive finish.

The event, advertised and orchestrated closely with Nintendo as an official event, brought together players and commentators from across the Japanese gaming landscape, including LoL, SFV, and, of course, Pokkén.

Rashid as the Flash, Laura as ‘Blana’: Sparks Fly in These Street Fighter V PC Mods

Racing in just as hype for Injustice 2 is on the rise, TheJamk has provided a mod for the PC version of Street Fighter V that brings DC Comics’ Flash into the fray. It’s a costume mod for Rashid, similar to Cammy’s Spider-Gwen mod. Check out how Rashid’s flashy moves suit the Scarlet Speedster in this new video.

While it’s easy to dismiss the name “Blana” as a typo of the name we’ve associated with electrifying Brazilian fighting skills for more than two decades, this next mod–for Laura–is anything but an error. If you’ve kept up with the steady stream of concept art coming from Capcom, you’ll likely recognize the source material for the mod, which sees Laura turn more than a bit bestial.

Aside from that little walk on the wild side, if you wondered what Laura would look like in the roles of the other Street Fighter V cast, wonder no longer: this video swaps her for (almost) the entire roster, similar to the Q swap reported earlier. Laura as Ryu never looked more determined. However, some of the larger cast members result in some facial distortions that could be described as… nightmarish.

Prey On Backdashes as Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-‘s Raven with this Okizeme Guide

Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-‘s Raven doesn’t rely on huge damage to secure a victory, but instead wears his opponents down by swooping in and harassing with projectiles and strong okizeme.

Keeponrock.in has been busy producing short Raven clips that cover various techniques, and his latest provides an in depth explanation of Raven’s Ball okizeme. After getting a knockdown, Raven sends out a projectile that stays on the enemy, at which point he proceeds with his special glide dash to confirm into a combo. Since this setup is designed to beat backdashes, and since the Guilty Gear cast has loads of intricate differences between characters, Keeponrock.in goes through the best way to use the technique against each fighter.

In order to perform this, the player needs to know how to proficiently control the glide, which is explained on the Guilty Gear Wiki. There are many more videos on Keeponrock.in’s YouTube page which cover specific aspects of Raven.

Additionally, www.keeponrock.in is a useful resource for viewing archives of current, competitive Guilty Gear matches.

Send Cloud Back to Midgar with ZeRo’s Counter-Tactics in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Team SoloMid’s Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios has been busy putting together his personal tier list for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, after patch 1.1.6; in his top tiers he placed Cloud at number two overall, just behind Ryu as having the most potential in the game going forward. In ZeRo’s latest video (aimed particularly at beginners) he offers tips on how to take the ex-SOLDIER down–like punishing him for blocked or dodged attacks, rather than taking a Buster Sword to the face by trying to get inside his long range first. Among other things, ZeRo also discusses how quickly Cloud fills his Limit guage–by dealing or taking damage, or by charging it outright–and how the Limit Break state changes the properties of his special moves.

TSM|ZeRo recently explained his counter-strategies for Little Mac as well. His personal Smash 4 1.1.6 tier list has, so far, reached the upper-high tiers.

Get the Most Out Of Guile’s V-Trigger with This Sonic Boom Loop Tutorial

Since the release of Guile in Street Fighter V, we’ve seen dozens of players pick him up and show off his crazy combo potential thanks to his new V-Trigger, Solid Puncher, which allows him to throw Sonic Booms without needing a backwards charge stocked. This allows him to string together moves in combinations that we’ve not seen before, and it didn’t take long for a damage arms race to start, with players posting their highest damage combos for the world to see.

ChrisG brought this back to everyone’s mind when he did a Sonic Boom loop in tournament at Wednesday Night Fights, not only dealing massive damage but sealing a comeback win that looked wildly improbable before he got started. He’s done it again since, proving that it’s not only possible in the heat of a tournament match, but that it’s a tactic Guile players should definitely have in their back pockets.

The Sonic Boom loop is one of the tougher strings in SFV in terms of execution, so Brian Kasugano has stepped in with a great guide to doing the basic loop. Not only does it detail the steps that you need to take to pull it off, it also helps break down the awkward timings of some of the moves in the loop. Of course, this is only one variation and, as the top players have shown, not necessarily the most damaging one, but it’s certainly a great starting point.

If Guile’s your guy in Street Fighter V, this is a technique that is worth experimenting with.

Learn to Analyze Your Match Replays in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U with This Lengthy Guide from KillerJawz

Recognizing your own bad habits and taking steps to break them can be the hardest part of improving in any fighting game. In his ongoing Trainer Tips series, the UK’s resident Smash 4 teacher and Mewtwo main KillerJawz has provided a lengthy guide on how to analyze your past matches and extract the most important details to help you improve.

Using the example of the grand finals set between Abadango’s Mewtwo and Mr-R’s Sheik at Melbourne Battle Arena, KillerJawz not only points out certain important moments and interactions during the set, but analyzes why a trade or mistake may be important to the match as a whole. This granular analysis should help in instructing you on what things to look out for in your own replays, as well as showing the thought process of a top player during the course of a match. While this video is useful for all Smashers who are wanting to improve, it’s incredibly useful for both commentators who are looking to work on their play by play skills, as well as Mewtwo mains trying to crack the Sheik matchup.
